High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 859: Chapter 207: The Adventures of Wizard Amin

Given the alarming situation outside, like a whispering wind causing turmoil, D&K, which had been open for less than thirty-six hours, soon decided to close for reorganization to avoid unnecessary trouble.

Of course, reorganization didn’t mean that everyone would rest. Xiao Xiao, along with Zhang Ji Xin, Blue Bird, and others, would still stay in the shop for further cleanup, inventory, and accounting work.

Meanwhile, Xin Fat Man, who had been busy writing and editing articles the previous night, Zheng Qing and Lin Guo, who participated in the night patrol at Lin Zhong Lake, and Dylan, who had a completely different schedule from the others, took this time to return to the dormitory to rest.

To say they were resting wasn’t exactly accurate—it wasn’t much easier.

After catching up on sleep and getting up at noon and having a rushed lunch—Zheng Qing even had a sprite fetch the lunch from the cafeteria—everyone chatted casually while quickly finishing up homework.

Tomorrow was the start of a new week, and it was time for the teachers to collect homework again. And, with the end of the term approaching, each subject’s teacher had outlined the exam scope, leaving everyone with endless problems and cases to solve, leaving little spare time.

As for the unsatisfactory interview reports from the Absolution Hunting Team, aside from verbally complaining and muttering a few phrases of disappointment, the young wizards staying in dormitory 403 didn’t have many options.

After all, these issues weren’t so significant that they needed to be made worse or attract more attention.

The only thing Zheng Qing could think of was to wait until the Absolution Hunting Team gathered again and then unify everyone’s version of events when talking to outsiders.

This wait lasted until the evening.

It wasn’t until the evening class meeting that Xiao Xiao and others hurried back from the shop outside the campus.

”Wasn’t it agreed that today we were just going to organize the stock and do some accounting? Why did it take so long?” Zheng Qing commented in a low voice as he opened a copy of the ”Beta Town Post.”

There was still a little less than half an hour before the class meeting commenced, and most students hadn’t arrived yet. The sparse figures in the classroom were busy with their tasks, which gave Zheng Qing and the others a little relief.

They had initially thought that their classmates would crowd around them as soon as they met to inquire about Su Shijun.

But whether it was because the newspaper had provided comprehensive reports or because academic pressures far outweighed the motivation driven by curiosity, when others saw them, they merely exchanged simple greetings or jovially called out ”big boss,” before they returned to catching up on homework or copying down notes.

This, while relieving, gave Zheng Qing a familiar sense of loss.

Fortunately, the news in the newspaper was quite interesting, which helped dissolve his slightly sensitive mood. At the moment, he was complaining to Xiao Xiao while poking a figure on the newspaper with a feather pen, directing it to fly over a canyon—this was a mini-game on the entertainment page of the ”Beta Town Post,” similar to ’Super Mario.’ It was called ’Warlock Amin’s Adventure,’ a story about a warlock, riding a broom, holding a Law book, and wearing a robe, hunting demons and seeking the truth along the way.

Whenever faced with challenges, the little figure named Amin would ask readers for help. Then, readers needed to write the appropriate answer in the blank spaces that popped up in the frame. It could be a spell to counter a demon, names of gathered herbs, a potion formula, or even the identity of a strange creature they encountered, its weaknesses, and tactics, among others.

Only by answering correctly could the little figure continue its journey.

Each edition of the newspaper contained just a small segment of an adventure experience. Before playing, readers needed only write down their game ID on the little person’s robe, and they could continue the adventure from where the last edition left off. If the last edition wasn’t completed successfully, the adventure in the next issue would be blank.

Although the ID on the little person’s robe could be rewritten several times, there was a limit to the number of times it could be used. According to common belief, a newspaper could accommodate ten to fifteen people passing it, but any more than that, the little person’s robe would shatter, and the bashful little figure would hide in the shadows of the painting frame, never willing to come out again.

As Xin Fat Man put it, this game was purely a promotional tactic for the ”Beta Town Post.”

But undeniably, for many students at First University, this small game not only relieved tension but also offered educative fun and was very popular.

Different from the public-cost student, who was lively in directing the wizard Amin on an adventure, Doctor Xiao had been busy in the shop all day and was now writing his weekly journal without lifting his head – thanks to Zheng Qing’s mercy, usually his homework completion rate was very high, but today he had to do additional homework. As for Elder Zhang Da, who usually couldn’t complete over fifty percent of his homework without copying from others, he was now even more strapped for time. Having taken Zheng Qing’s Talisman Studies and Xin Fat Man’s Potion Studies homework as soon as he entered the classroom, he began to frantically copy.

Looking at the feather pen in his hand, clenched so tightly that the feathers were disheveled and bent in all directions, one couldn’t help but worry the tip would snap off on the homework notebook at any moment.

Upon hearing Zheng Qing’s complaint, although Xiao Xiao did not look up, he still responded patiently, ”It’s precisely because we have to tally up the stock and do the accounts that I’m late.”

The young public-cost student couldn’t help but lift his head, looking at Xiao Xiao in astonishment, and asked,

”Didn’t we just open recently? Are there that many accounts to review? Plus, we just organized the warehouse the day before yesterday, it seems like there isn’t much to sort out.”

”It’s precisely because we just opened that things are so hectic and messy,” Xiao Xiao sighed deeply.

”I know, I know, this is called having specialization in one’s craft... That’s why I initially said that the shop should hire a professional accountant to manage the accounts,” Xin Fat Man hurriedly interjected.

Zheng Qing, with a grim face, watching the wizard Amin in the newspaper die due to mistaking ephedra stem for ephedra root which were meant for dispelling wind and causing sweating instead of consolidating the body and retaining sweat, involuntarily grabbed his feather pen and poked the newspaper several times forcefully, muttering in a low voice,

”Hiring people? It sounds so simple... Are you paying the wages? Managing to open this small store has already exhausted all the savings from the last hunting competition, where would we find extra money to hire someone?!”

Xin Fat Man shrank his neck and quietly closed his mouth.

Just then, a familiar voice suddenly sounded not far from the warlocks.

”If needed, I could invest a bit of money, consider it as taking a stake, how does that sound?” Matthew Karen stood a few steps away with a pale face, politely looking towards the members of the Absolution Hunting Team.

Everyone in Zheng Qing’s small circle, including those making up homework like Xiao Xiao, all simultaneously lifted their heads to look at the unexpected guest.
