High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 852: Chapter 200 The Overlooked Guest

Earlier today, because of the new store opening, guests who had been invited to the ceremony and those passing by came in an endless stream. Along with the various decorations and settings placed outside the storefront, the already narrow Pedestrian Street was almost completely blocked.

Students opening a store, lecturers and representatives of the assistant team, the Bird Workers Association, Fishmen, the Mouse Clan, etc., etc., various races and factions appeared in turns, arousing great interest from the media.

Including Beta Town Post and First University Campus Newspaper, many media outlets dispatched journalists to the streets for on-the-spot interviews at the first opportunity. And interviewing Xin Fat Man was none other than his direct supervisor at the campus newspaper editorial department, Senior Linda — she was also Fat Man’s mentor at the Campus Newspaper and, for that reason, she had been issued an invitation to the D&K opening today.

The moment Xin Fat Man heard Zhang Ji Xin’s words, his face immediately fell.

”They left early,” he grumbled, with a hint of complaint in his tone, ”After Iseni arrived, a lot of people left... You know, the Fishmen’s identity is sensitive, and nobody likes them... Later, I can fly a Paper Crane to send a brief message to Senior Linda. I believe she will be interested in these happenings.”

”Hey, speak with some decency!” Andrew Taylor, who had been sitting in a corner nursing his injuries, suddenly got angry and raised his voice to defend his team member from the Hunting Team: ”Iseni attending your opening was already showing you a lot of face! This is called cross-factional support, got it? You were the one who sent the invitation, was that also wrong? Doesn’t your conscience hurt?”

Even Jiang Yu couldn’t help but laugh when she heard this rough fellow mention conscience.

”That’s right, that’s right, it was my oversight, it has nothing to do with Iseni,” Zheng Qing said, feeling a headache coming on while continuously waving his hands and looking at Andrew with concern, ”Are you alright? How about we take you to the school hospital to have a look first? Injuries to muscles and bones are not a small matter, you should have a professional therapist check it out.”

”We’ve got a low-flying magic carpet prepared in the back warehouse, it’s new equipment purchased by our Hunting Team, and we can help transport you there,” Xiao Xiao added from the side.

Upon hearing this kind gesture, Andrew’s face immediately lit up with a smile.

”That sounds great; later on, I’ll communicate with Iseni too, to have him put on a few more pounds of perfume before coming out of the lake,” said the leader of the Ouroboros Snake Hunting Team, his belly slapping resoundingly and causing Zheng Qing’s eyelid to twitch in fear that he might accidentally break some bone that was previously fine.

When Xiao Xiao pulled out the brand new Persian magic carpet from the storage area behind the small shop, a bunch of people awkwardly helped the young wolf pup of the Taylor family onto it, and then he was escorted away by the Hunters of the Ouroboros Snake team.

Standing at the store entrance and watching the Hunters of the Ouroboros Snake team’s departing figures, Zheng Qing felt as if he had neglected something.

But after thinking for a long time, he still could not recall what it was.

So, he simply stopped being hard on himself and turned to look at Xin Fat Man, revisiting the topic, ”That... Considering the sensitive identities of those two from earlier, I think, maybe we should let it be? If we report it, wouldn’t it bring trouble to us?”

The ’those two’ he referred to were naturally Su Shijun and Duke Milton.

As members of the Moon Council, their status was almost on par with the four deans of First University, and it was no exaggeration to say they are of noble stature.

Such important figures showing up in a small shop in Beta Town, if the news got out, it would inevitably attract many unnecessary troubles — like those seeking revenge, provoking incidents, or trying to pull connections; all kinds of issues abound.

In addition, with the store located outside the university, Zheng Qing was well aware that there was no big backer standing behind this business venture. Keeping a low profile and avoiding any trouble was certainly the best option.

Hearing his concern, Xiao Xiao scoffed.

”Trouble? We’d only have trouble if D&K were making a loss.”

He fished out an abacus from behind the counter and plinked away at it before reminding, ”I hate to burst your bubble, but you must know, today’s opening day wasn’t particularly promising... especially inviting Iseni was a huge blunder.”

”If we don’t want to end up dubbed with titles like ’wizard disgrace’ or ’friend of the Fishman’ after the public opinion ferments, then we had better come up with some other kind of stunt... Just like at the start of the school year, the tactics of Arthur Ness and his group, using a bigger news story to overshadow this negative one.”

”Su Daxu’s appearance at D&K would be a decent stunt,” Zhang Ji Xin also nodded repeatedly, ”Of course, Duke Milton would count too, but he doesn’t have a great relationship with us. Using his name in private would certainly draw a legal notice from the Karen Family.”

”Imagine hanging a sign in front of our store that reads ’Nice little shop—Su Shijun review,’ in bold letters. Would we still worry about not having customers coming through the door?” Xin Fat Man gesticulated with a face full of longing.

”I was just saying I’m worried about too many people coming... Overeating can make your stomach burst,” Zheng Qing ridiculed.

Of course, what he was more worried about was being discovered for his relationship with Su Shijun, being bagged in the middle of the night, and dragged into some dark corner of the school for a beating.

After D&K was associated with Su Shijun, the risk of exposure would increase exponentially.

Too dangerous, too dangerous. At the thought of those chilling consequences, the young cost student couldn’t help shaking his head repeatedly.

”Actually, you have other options,” an abrupt voice interrupted the fervent discussion among the young wizards.

Zheng Qing looked toward the sound, and in the corner of the shop, those clothed mice were still lined up neatly, squatting on the carpet, quiet as if they were stone statues.

It was none other than the bigwig of the Mouse Clan, the ’Walnut Mouse’ who Duke Milton referred to as the ’Rat Immortal.’

It was then that Zheng Qing realized what he had just forgotten.

”Ah, sorry, sorry.” The young cost student patted his head, full of remorse, and sat seiza (kneeling) in front of the mouse clan guests. He leaned slightly forward, uneasily said from his position of height, ”I got a bit too caught up just now... What did you mean when you said we have other options?”

”It’s okay.” The Rat Immortal accepted the young wizard’s apology first but then added, ”Not noticing me is not your fault. I prefer quiet, so wherever I am, I habitually open a shielding barrier. Unless permitted, it’s very difficult for others to notice me.”

”Of course, if you were seasoned registered wizards or Big Wizards, you would not be affected by such a small barrier.”

”As for the ’option’ I just mentioned, it’s exactly as it sounds.”
