High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 851: Chapter 199 Temporarily Arranging

When Su Shijun was expelling Mr. Vampire from the store, in a corner outside, the venerable Ferna who had been silently observing all the colorful guests finally relaxed and withdrew his gaze.

Originally, he had only planned to stop by this newly opened little shop to see if he could find some novel toys and snacks for his old companion Lord May.

But he didn’t expect to see so many interesting guests and stories.

”Tsk, old already, old already... If I were a few hundred years younger, seeing such an outstanding girl, I too would have rushed up regardless of everything,” the elderly groundskeeper stroked his chin, sighing as he took one last look at the little shop, before finally kicking his old companion by the foot and muttered, ”Let’s go, let’s go, those who should leave have left, and those who are coming will arrive... We onlookers shouldn’t stay here and get in the way... Swallow that little thing under your paw quickly.”

Lord May made a wuwu noise in his throat, raised his head, and showed his bloodstained mouth.

Beneath its paw, it was pressing down on a bloody and mangled little ferocious creature.

The little ferocious creature is a new generation magical creature from the Magical Creature Kingdom, Mammalia class, Muroidia order, Squirrel Family, Magic Squirrel Genus; similar to Small Axe, Mei Became Angry, Big West Few, and others, they are mutants of their original species—Or according to scholars in the wizard world, they prefer to call such mutations ’magic degenerate creatures’—The original species of the little ferocious creature is the Two-tailed Squirrel, which is often seen around the First University campus.

However, in comparison to the Two-tailed Squirrel, the little ferocious creatures are even smaller in size, about a third of the size of a mountain squirrel, with some individuals even smaller. Moreover, compared to mountain squirrels, their intelligence has significantly decreased; this is mainly indicated by their unclear squeaks and the unpredictability of their behavioral habits.

Like the little ferocious creature under Lord May’s paw, for instance.

Now, in the depths of winter, normally, most Squirrel Family creatures, including the Two-tailed Squirrel, would be hiding in warm tree holes filled with dry leaves and sawdust, holding dried hazelnuts and acorns from autumn, and lazily snoring away.

Yet for some reason, this little ferocious creature boldly appeared on the Pedestrian Street, shivering with cold while wildly dancing the breakdance, which prompted Lord May, who had originally been staying in a corner to avoid the Fishmen’s fishy smell, to be overcome with a hunting instinct, smacking it half to death with one paw, and then dragging it under his paw to play with.

Following Mendel’s Paradox, it’s unlikely for an animal with stable magic power to be the result of a wizard’s transformation—unless that wizard is willing to split his own spirit—but to be on the safe side, the old Ferna still checked to confirm that the little ferocious creature was not a wizard’s accidental transformation before allowing his old companion to torment it.

Upon hearing the groundskeeper’s urging, the old hunting dog reluctantly gave a few gentle taps on the half-dead little ferocious creature at his feet, then lifted it by the tail, tilted back his head, and Gollum, swallowed it down his throat.

With a gentle movement of his throat and stomach, Lord May’s body and mind were fully satisfied, and he suddenly found everything around him tasteless.

”Virtue.” Ferna cursed with a smile and called softly, ”Let’s go, let’s go... This afternoon, I still need to take a few young ones for a stroll on the Silent River.”

”I really don’t know why those kids are so fascinated by that gloomy river.”

Lord May hummed along, dragging his heavy, aging body, and slowly followed the old man towards the school.

After just a few steps, the groundskeeper seemed to notice something and suddenly turned his head to look behind him.

Across from the small shop, a tall and lean wizard who had just stepped out from the Wandering Bar was wearing a gray robe and a gray pointed soft-brimmed hat. He held pastries in one hand and a bottle of wine in the other. As if he noticed the groundskeeper’s wary gaze, the tall and lean wizard turned his head and smiled, lifting an arm in a greeting gesture.

”Damn,” the groundskeeper swore softly, ”that old wretch has gone over there too... He sure picked a good time.”

He stopped in his tracks, hesitated for a moment, but eventually decided not to meddle in those problematic matters. Shaking his head, he followed the silhouette of the old hunting dog as it disappeared into the campus.

...

Inside the small shop.

After watching Duke Milton’s figure vanish completely from his sight, Su Shijun then turned around, took off his oversized red-framed glasses, and looked at the several young wizards.

Before they could speak, he quickly explained,

”Su Ya made a mistake and was grounded by Su Man. She can’t go out today... so I am here to take a look around on her behalf.”

”And to return that little thing to you.”

Poseidon, who had been lying on Zheng Qing’s shoulder, turned his head and let out two loud calls, seemingly supporting the witch’s story.

With the testimony of the little fox, even if the previous reason seemed a bit far-fetched, it was still reasonable, given that a Big Wizard’s thoughts and concerns naturally differ from those of an ordinary wizard. The young wizards didn’t find it hard to accept.

”...The shop is not bad. Keep up the good work,” Su Daxu finally nodded, ending her brief visit with a short evaluation. Then, with a twist of her figure, she instantly vanished from the spot, without a trace.

Her departure was brisk, with not a hint of hesitation.

This left the young state-funded student deeply relieved, but for some reason, a faint sense of loss also rose from the bottom of his heart.

Beside him, the other young wizards were still standing in place, dazed for a long while until the bustling voices from the street outside the door seeped in again. Only then did they come to their senses, as if awakened from a dream.

”Am I dreaming?” Zhang Ji Xin muttered with a hoarse voice.

No one mocked his composure, since everyone seemed somewhat disoriented. Even Zheng Qing, who had interacted with Su Shijun many times, couldn’t help but experience a momentary loss of soul when the witch removed her glasses.

”That person just now... was Su Councilor from Qingqiu, right?” Xin Fat Man also showed a rare hint of anxiety on his face, glancing around cautiously as he asked for confirmation.

”Do you even have to ask?!” Li Meng wrinkled her nose and glared at the fat man with annoyance, ”Is your head filled with fat? Other than my Su Daxu, who else possesses such irresistible charm?”

As she spoke, the little witch ’pffted’ twice and spat out a cat hair that was sticking to her lips.

The cat tail that Jiang Yu had stuffed in her mouth earlier had indeed brought her quite a bit of trouble. Thinking about this, the little witch couldn’t help but look at her cousin with a mix of grievance and sadness. Jiang Yu, feeling apologetic, rubbed her little head without saying anything.

”Fantastic...” Zhang Ji Xin clapped his hands in praise, ”Our little shop is going to become famous. Looking around the whole Pedestrian Street, which shop can boast of having Su Daxu make an appearance at their opening ceremony? Absolutely none!... Oh right, Fat Man, did the journalist who interviewed you leave? Can you add this event to the end of the interview?”
