Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 494: Chapter 268: Not to Be Underestimated (First Update)

”Yes, I got engaged to Nora.”

He held Lawrence Winters’ left hand with his left hand, showing the two ring-wearing hands to Kenneth’s dad and mom.

Mrs. Osborne saw the tiny diamond on Lawrence Winters’ left hand, which was smaller than any diamond she’d ever bought, and certainly couldn’t compare to Brooke Osborne’s big diamond ring, which immediately made her feel better.

In a blink of an eye, the more she looked at Lawrence Winters, the more she liked him, especially since his family had such a big house...

Mrs. Osborne immediately beamed with joy, holding Lawrence Winters’ other hand and said, ”Oh, I’ve watched Lawrence grow up since he was little. He’s such a good boy, it’s truly a blessing for our Kenneth to be with you!”

Then she advised Lawrence Winters, ”Although our Kenneth isn’t making much money right now, he’s sure to make a lot of money in the future. And as a young girl, you shouldn’t be all about the money. Rich men are no good; where can you find anyone like our Kenneth, who is both capable and... thoughtful, right?”

She originally wanted to say ”makes money,” but considering that Kenneth had just mentioned he still had to ”pay interest,” she couldn’t bring herself to say it.

Cameron Spencer, suddenly accused, was speechless: ”...”

Kenneth Osborne found it amusing inside, but maintained a serious demeanor and said, ”Oh, recently my company’s been having some cash flow issues, and I’ve borrowed money from Nora to get by, but she doesn’t have that much. If you and dad don’t mind, I was hoping to borrow some money from you guys too...”

Mrs. Osborne immediately got nervous, ”Borrow money... Your dad and I only have our pension, and we still have to pay our mortgage, so we don’t have much money for now... But your sister does!”

She turned to Brooke Osborne, ”Brooke, you’re the one with money! You must help your brother. You’re siblings! When your brother makes money in the future, he definitely won’t forget you!”

Brooke Osborne wasn’t sure about Kenneth Osborne’s company, but Cameron Spencer had said Kenneth had talent, and his company had great potential. And since he was her brother, she had already prepared some money to give him even if he didn’t ask.

So she nodded right away, saying, ”Don’t worry, mom, I won’t ignore Kenneth.”

She took out a bankbook she had prepared and placed it in Lawrence Winters’ hand, saying, ”Lawrence, this is a little something from me and your brother-in-law, as a congratulations on your engagement.”

Then she added, ”Giving this to Lawrence is the same as giving it to Kenneth, right?”

Lawrence Winters understood Brooke Osborne’s meaning and smiled, ”Of course.”

He immediately handed the bankbook back to Kenneth Osborne, saying, ”Bro, this is for your business turnover.”

Kenneth Osborne returned it to her with a smile, ”I said it’s for congratulating our engagement, how can it be used for business turnover?”

He glanced at Cameron Spencer, who was watching from the side, and said meaningfully, ”Brother-in-law does such big business, easily taking out five billion. Adding another ten billion, wouldn’t that be easy too?”

Cameron Spencer was slightly startled, cautiously glanced at Kenneth Osborne.

He wasn’t afraid of Kenneth Osborne, but he had to be wary of the SSA Private Equity behind him.

Although SSA Private Equity had invested in another AI company, Everwake Intelligent, they hadn’t withdrawn their investment in AI Vision Promise.

It’s just that people weren’t too optimistic about Kenneth Osborne’s AI Vision Promise now, so industry attention had diminished significantly.

Cameron Spencer liked taking small bets for big wins.

He had long wanted to invest in Kenneth Osborne’s AI Vision Promise, so under Kenneth’s wordplay, he smiled and said, ”We can’t take out ten billion... but we can definitely take out one to two billion to buy some shares. Kenneth, if you need investment, I can have our Spencer Group’s investment department contact you to buy some shares of your company.”

”Huh? Selling shares too?” Kenneth Osborne showed a disappointed expression.

Lawrence Winters also seized the opportunity and said, ”We’re all family, how can you take advantage of someone when they’re down? But Mr. Spencer surely does big business; in the business world, there’s no father and son. Our Kenneth needs the ’most selfless’ help from family now, and you propose buying shares in our Kenneth’s company...”

He emphasized the words ”most selfless.”

Mrs. Osborne didn’t understand what ”buying shares” meant, so she quickly asked.

Lawrence Winters explained with a smile, ”...it means he wants to buy Kenneth’s company, and then Kenneth wouldn’t be the boss, just an employee...”

Mrs. Osborne could understand that.

Actually, Cameron Spencer might not have meant to buy out the whole company, but becoming a shareholder would mean Kenneth would be working for him, which also made sense.

So Cameron Spencer didn’t refute.
