Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 486: Chapter 263: Growth Comes Without Warning

Lawrence Winters grew even more curious and smiled, ”I’m not a fan. May I ask who you are?”

The middle-aged lady maintained a professional smile, as if wearing a lifelike plastic mask, and said, ”If you’re not a fan, then you definitely can’t come in. Please wait outside for an hour.”

Lawrence Winters then took out his business card and, smiling, said, ”I am the spokesperson for the PR department of the production company, and also an agent. Who are you? Where’s your business card?”

The middle-aged lady didn’t expect that someone dressed so casually, looking like a high school student, could already be a spokesperson and agent for NewHuman Corporation!

Though her professional smile didn’t change, it regressed from a plastic mask to a plaster one, appearing stiffly pale.

She awkwardly said, ”...But we’re a bit busy right now, could you come back in an hour?”

Lawrence Winters raised an eyebrow, his smile fading, ”If you do not reveal your identity, I will have to call the police.”

He took out his phone.

At that moment, a man in black sunglasses standing by the door suddenly reached out, trying to grab the phone from Lawrence Winters’ hand.

His movements were swift as the wind, clearly trained.

However, Lawrence was also trained. He quickly withdrew his hand, simultaneously lowering his body, and with a sweeping kick, toppled the man in black sunglasses lunging at him!

The man reacted quickly; after being tripped, he immediately rolled on the ground, reaching out to grab the leg Lawrence had just kicked with.

Lawrence sidestepped and dodged, stood up, and seized the moment to pull the bewildered middle-aged lady in front of him, while stamping firmly on the chest of the man he had just toppled, holding him down harshly.

The place Lawrence stomped was precisely the man’s heart. With the right technique, it would obstruct the heart’s blood supply, causing a momentary syncope in the brain, incapacitating him briefly.

It’s a move used to defeat stronger opponents when the odds are stacked against you.

If it came down to a real fight, Lawrence might not be the man’s match.

But the opponent underestimated him, and Lawrence caught the flaw, making it hard for the opponent to recover.

Although Lawrence’s actions seemed complex, they actually happened in a flash.

The middle-aged lady snapped out of it, immediately screamed at the top of her lungs.

The other men in black sunglasses hesitated, afraid to act against Lawrence directly but surrounded him closely.

The middle-aged lady’s scream finally caught the attention of the film crew.

They all rushed out to see what had happened.

Lucas Harlow originally didn’t want to come out, but Ruby Sheldon dragged him, saying it sounded like her nanny’s voice, so he came out too.

He walked out to see Lawrence standing in the center of the crowd, stepping on a burly man in black sunglasses, holding a middle-aged lady crying profusely. It was Ruby Sheldon’s personal nanny.

One hand holding a phone pointed at the men in black, the other arm was around the nanny’s neck in a way that could break it with a bit of force.

Remarkably imposing.

Jason, who had rushed out earlier, was more excited than ever, taking many photos with his phone, then started recording a video, exclaiming, ”Lawrence, you’re amazing! Do you really know martial arts?! When did you learn?!”

The director and producer, who also came running, were stunned.

They exchanged glances, regretting the trouble they were in.

None of the sides involved are ones they can afford to offend!

Lucas Harlow, though troubled, immediately stepped forward, saying, ”We’re all on the same side, it’s a misunderstanding.”

After shooing away the men in black surrounding Lawrence, Lucas approached Lawrence and said, ”Lawrence, let them go.”

Lawrence nodded, smiling, ”I came for a visit today, but this lady wouldn’t let me in and asked me to wait an hour.”

”I told her I was the PR spokesperson and an agent for the company, but she didn’t believe me.”

”I asked for her identity, but she wouldn’t tell me, so I had to call the police.” Lawrence motioned to the man he had knocked out underfoot, ”Then this person lunged at me to grab my phone and tried to hit me. I had to fight back for self-defense.”

He looked at Lucas seriously, ”You might not believe it, but they really started it.”

Lucas’ mouth twitched slightly, ”Why wouldn’t I believe you? Of course, they started it.”

Ruby Sheldon looked at Lawrence with admiration, saying, ”It’s Sister Lawrence! You’re amazing! You can fight so many on your own?!”

Lawrence remained expressionless, seriously saying, ”I’m not amazing. I couldn’t take on that many alone. I was surrounded just now, didn’t you see?”

Ruby chuckled, ”They don’t count, I only saw you take on two yourself!”

She made a V sign, with a double meaning.

Lawrence Winters tugged at the corner of his mouth and released the middle-aged lady.

The nanny, released from Lawrence Winters’ grip, immediately covered her mouth and started coughing.

Ruby Sheldon hurried over to pat her back and said, ”Mama Liu, you’ve worked hard. Are you okay? Do you need to go to the hospital?”

”No, no.” Mama Liu shook her head. ”Thank you, Betty. I’m fine, just a bit uncomfortable in the throat. I’ll be okay after a rest.”

Lawrence Winters stood by watching them talk, raised an eyebrow, glanced at Lucas Harlow, and said, ”Who is this? What are they doing here?”

Lucas Harlow looked a bit awkward and said, ”... It’s Betty. She came to visit the set.”

”Oh—!” Lawrence Winters dragged out the sound, ”So it’s a set visit. If I’d known she was coming, I wouldn’t have come.”

With that, she nodded at Jason, ”I’ve already ordered fruits and snacks. Please have everyone eat them later and say they’re from me. I have business at the office, so I’ll leave first.”

Lawrence Winters turned around and left, without even a polite word.

Ruby Sheldon frowned as she watched Lawrence Winters’ back, murmuring, ”Sister Lawrence didn’t even speak to me. Does she not like me?”

Lucas Harlow’s heart tightened, and he instinctively said, ”It’s not that; she’s just really busy. Plus, your dad warned her not to get close to you, so it’s probably out of caution, not dislike.”

”Oh, right.” Ruby Sheldon remembered and said sheepishly, ”I also promised my parents not to befriend Sister Lawrence.”

Then she shook her head, ”What a pity, such a pity. Sister Lawrence is so much fun. I’ve never met a girl as adorable and fun as she is.”

And she’s about the same age as her.

Ruby Sheldon didn’t say the last sentence out loud, just mumbled it in her heart.

Lucas Harlow just wanted her to leave quickly and said, ”That’s right, you have to listen to your parents. Now that you’ve visited, you should head back. I have to continue filming.”

”Alright.” Ruby Sheldon obediently nodded, ”Uncle, will you come home this weekend? I’m learning to cook from Mama Liu. Once I learn, I’ll make soup for you over the weekend!”

Lucas Harlow: ”...”

He smiled wryly and said, ”Once you learn, make soup for your parents first. If they say it’s good, then make it for your two brothers. I can be after them; I’m not in a hurry.”

”Haha! Uncle, you’re right! Once I learn to cook, I should make it for Mom and Dad first!” Ruby Sheldon nodded vigorously, ”I’ll listen to Uncle! Am I obedient?!”

Her face was full of a look seeking praise, as cute as a kitten, just shy of purring.

Lucas Harlow had no choice but to pat her head and praise her, ”Good girl, go back quickly.”

Ruby Sheldon finally obediently left with her large entourage.

After getting in the car, her expression cooled, and she sternly said to the distressed-looking nanny, ”Mama Liu, I am displeased with today’s events. From now on, don’t come out with me.”

Mama Liu was startled.

There were various staff around Ruby Sheldon.

She was a nanny type of staff responsible for caring and accompanying Ruby Sheldon, not only taking care of her daily needs but also teaching her various social etiquettes.

Mama Liu was a professional who had returned from abroad and went through numerous assessments to get this job.

The salary was higher than that of executives in listed companies.

Of course, she didn’t want to lose this job, so she hurriedly apologized, ”Miss, I won’t do it again. It was all because of Lawrence Winters today; if it weren’t for her...”

She had seen Lawrence Winters’ business card, so she knew her name.

Ruby Sheldon brushed a slight wrinkle off her sleeve and said lightly, ”It’s because of this that I don’t want you anymore. Why did you act so imperious? We came for a visit, not an inspection. You caused a big scene, how do others see me?”

”You offended Sister Lawrence today, Uncle was very displeased, didn’t you notice?”

Mama Liu looked at Ruby Sheldon in astonishment, ”Miss, you mean Mr. Harlow? He didn’t... I didn’t notice.”

”So you don’t need to come out with me anymore. Rest assured, I won’t fire you; just help me tidy up at home. The management of my wardrobe is up to you.” Ruby Sheldon finished, raising her hand to stop Mama Liu’s impulse to speak, ”No need to say more. I won’t repeat myself.”

She finished speaking and closed her eyes, leaning back onto the car seat to fake sleep.

Her hands crossed over her chest, her expression indifferent, and the childishness finally began to fade away.

Growth came unexpectedly; she finally grew up.
