Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 473: Chapter 256: In Pairs (Part 3)_2

He squinted provocatively at Kenneth Osborne, ”Kenneth, did you remember to prepare a red envelope for Lawrence? I remember you used to give one every year, you can’t let the engagement make you abandon good traditions.”

”I did prepare one; I’ve already sent it to her phone,” Kenneth Osborne said with a smile, without looking up.

”That’s more like it,” Nick Zeller muttered, rubbing his temples, ”I got drunk yesterday, what were you guys talking about?”

Here it comes.

Gabrielle Winters and the old Daoist exchanged a glance, then looked away from each other.

Kenneth’s hand paused while tapping on his phone screen, but he didn’t speak.

Still, Gabrielle didn’t want to cause any unhappiness on New Year’s Day, so she smiled and said, ”Oh, nothing much. After midnight, we each went back to our rooms to sleep.”

Nick Zeller frowned and said, ”Really? I seem to remember someone mentioning betrothal gifts, and I replied with ’dowry’. Were you guys playing a word game?”

Gabrielle was momentarily stunned, uncertain of how to respond, but the old Daoist already spilled the beans.

He chuckled and said, ”You heard right, Kenneth decided to set a wedding date yesterday, and my little apprentice picked sometime in the second half of the year. What do you think?”

”What?!” Nick Zeller exploded, ”How can she decide the wedding date on her own?! Am I still her master or not?! No way! I’m setting the date! Whatever date she picked doesn’t count!”

”Why wouldn’t it count? It’s someone else’s wedding, not yours,” the old Daoist rolled his eyes, ”You should just calm down. The bride agrees, the groom agrees, her mom agrees, even I, the ancestor, agreed. You don’t agree; who are you anyway?”

Nick Zeller was so choked up he almost couldn’t breathe.

He pounded his chest, put the teacup down, leaned back on the sofa, and weakly said, ”...But you can’t completely bypass me... That heartless little girl... All for nothing.”

Gabrielle saw how upset he was and quickly tried to mediate, ”Lawrence just mentioned the second half of the year; she didn’t specify a date. It’s probably left for you to decide.”

”Ah? Oh! That’s right!” Nick Zeller instantly perked up, ”Lawrence still cares about her big uncle! I’ll go back to my room and fetch my best Plum Blossom Divination System Calculation to pick a lucky date for her!”

Nick Zeller stood up excitedly and gave the old Daoist a look, ”Master, do you want to help us take a look?”

The old Daoist knew he had something to say, so he smiled and stood up, ”Sure, the date picked by our master and disciple is bound to be very lucky!”

The two of them laughed and walked towards Nick Zeller’s suite.

Once inside, they closed the door, and Nick Zeller put on a serious face, nervously asking, ”...Master, will Lawrence’s marriage be okay?”

”...She’s already got a fiancé; isn’t it a bit late to say this now?” The old Daoist sneered while sitting down on the sofa in the studio of Nick’s suite, ”Don’t be so anxious, I say there’s nothing wrong, so there’s nothing wrong. Just wait for them to have kids!”

Nick’s face expression changed unpredictably for a while, then finally calmed down and nodded, ”That’s right, we’ll always be with Lawrence. If she gets pregnant, she’ll definitely come back home to rest, I won’t let her be alone with Kenneth living outside during pregnancy.”

”I agree with that. Lawrence definitely should come back to live if she’s pregnant; even if you don’t say it, her mother won’t be comfortable. Should we find a reliable obstetrician to stay at home to take care of her then?”

The old Daoist already started planning as if Lawrence were already pregnant.

But even the wedding date hasn’t been set.

...

When Lawrence Winters truly woke up, it was already close to noon.

Wrapped in her blanket, she shifted and felt like she’d been run over by a huge rock.

Finally, rubbing her head, she sat up, only wishing to tear Kenneth Osborne apart.

After sitting on the bed for a while, she moved to the bathroom for a bath.

Fortunately, she had a good physique, and a soak in a rose essential oil bath revived her.

Putting on her new Year’s outfit, she pushed the door open and nearly bumped into Kenneth Osborne, who was loitering at her door.

”...Why are you here...” Lawrence’s face instantly flushed red as she held onto the door and asked somewhat awkwardly.

Kenneth glanced over her quickly, seeing that aside from being red-faced, she was fine, he breathed a sigh of relief and said with a smile, ”You’ve been sleeping, Auntie Winter was worried and asked me to check on you.”

”Is it only my mom who’s worried?” Lawrence narrowed her eyes at Kenneth Osborne, thinking about asking whether her big uncle was worried.

Besides her mom, her big uncle was the only one she was anxious about.

But Kenneth blurted out, ”...Of course, there’s also me.”

”...You have the nerve to say that?!” Lawrence scolded him in a low voice, then quietly reminded him, ”Okay, don’t act like this, sneaky behavior will make anyone suspect something’s going on.”

Kenneth collected himself and said with a smile, ”You’re right about that.”

But he touched his own face and found it burning, and he dared not look at Lawrence again, saying, ”Go eat, we’ve already had lunch, but kept a portion for you. I’ll return to my room to read.”

He hurried back to his room, closed the door, and finally relaxed the tension in his heart.

Sitting at his desk for a while, he turned on his computer to focus on some programs to calm down, when his phone rang.

Kenneth Osborne looked at the display and saw it was Brooke Osborne calling.

He swiped his phone open and answered.

Brooke Osborne was calling to wish him a happy New Year. From the sound of it, there seemed to be many people on her side.

”Kenneth, Happy New Year,” Brooke said softly, ”Mom and Dad also want to speak with you, can you video call us?”

Midday on New Year’s Day, of course, a video call is no problem.

Kenneth Osborne accepted the video call request.

But once connected, Kenneth found out that not only were Brooke and his parents there, Cameron Spencer and Cameron’s two daughters, and even Blake Leaf were present too.
