Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 480: Chapter 260: What If I Hadn’t Forced It (Part 3)

The mother and daughter lay side by side, Summer Spencer speaking, while Hazel Winchester communicated using her phone.

[Hazel Winchester]: Summer, as your mother, I’ve actually been holding you back all along. This time, I finally understand, the last thing I’m doing is for my own daughter.

[Hazel Winchester]: Going to the family temple will not only appease your dad and make him care for you more, but also help me get along well with Cousin Ruby.

Summer Spencer knew Cameron Spencer would surely treat her a bit better, but she didn’t understand the point of getting along well with Ruby Rayner, who was already divorced, so she asked.

[Hazel Winchester]: Don’t underestimate the first wife. Her family’s connections are real connections. It’s just that her family is very low-key now, and her relations with them are distant, which is why your dad dared to divorce her. And it’s just a divorce; he doesn’t dare touch anything else.

[Hazel Winchester]: As long as I’m with Cousin Ruby, your dad will have to put us on a pedestal. And you, I’ll help you explore the first wife’s connections, hoping that one day, you can directly connect with them.

[Hazel Winchester]: Cousin Ruby once let slip to me, if it weren’t for her family’s connections in the past, your dad wouldn’t have succeeded in his first major business deal.

Summer Spencer was extremely curious, ”What major business deal? Which one? How come I don’t know?”

[Hazel Winchester]: The deal that allowed the Spencer Family to rise, also the one that made the Foster Family hate them to the core. —That’s what Ruby Rayner said. I don’t know the specifics either.

Summer Spencer furrowed her brows, even pulled out her phone to check the Spencer Family’s history but found no deal that matched the description.

Hazel Winchester saw her unable to find anything on the Spencer Group’s official website and typed with a smile.

[Hazel Winchester]: Stop searching, such matters are definitely not glorious. Do you think they would put it on the official website?

Logical.

Summer Spencer nodded, ”Then I won’t search anymore. But this information is very important. Now that you’re accompanying the first wife, take the opportunity to chat more, tell old stories, maybe you might get more out of her.”

[Hazel Winchester]: I’ll do my best. If you have time, come visit us often; the first wife lost her son, she must be very lonely.

Summer Spencer understood, hugged Hazel Winchester’s neck and sighed, ”Mom, I really can’t bear for you to go.”

[Hazel Winchester]: I can’t bear leaving you either. But for your future, this is all I can do.

Cameron Spencer’s ruthless tactics had truly made her wake up.

As someone whose family background is only slightly better than Brooke Osborne’s, without having a son, what right does she have to keep on stirring things up?

Several times she nearly involved Summer Spencer.

Hazel Winchester experienced life and death to gain enlightenment and decided to plan a safer path for herself and her daughter.

Without connections herself, she’d go find some.

...

The next day, Summer Spencer personally took Hazel Winchester to the Spencer Family temple where Ruby Rayner stayed.

The place was very secluded, but it was obvious that the scenery was particularly good, and the land was very vast.

She even visited Justus Spencer’s grave and offered a bouquet of flowers.

Ruby Rayner chanted the Rebirth Scripture for her son every day and kept his grave surroundings clean, not a single weed in sight.

Summer Spencer hadn’t seen Ruby Rayner in a long time.

Her impression of Ruby Rayner was of a plump middle-aged woman.

Now, seeing her, she was so thin she was just skin and bones.

Quieter than before, more resigned to fate.

Summer Spencer couldn’t help but say, ”First wife, are you not eating well? Why have you gotten so thin?”

Ruby Rayner glanced at her and said with feeling, ”I’m fine, I’ve switched to vegetarian, being thinner is good, I’m healthier now than before.”

”But you can’t just not eat meat.” Summer Spencer said, ”I’ll send you some vitamins, so you don’t become nutritionally unbalanced.”

”It’s fine, I have them. Justus bought me a lot before, I couldn’t finish them even if I tried.” Ruby Rayner said, touching Justus Spencer’s tombstone.

Summer Spencer quickly said softly, ”Big brother would feel sad if he saw you like this. First wife, please listen to my advice.”

”Your big brother, it’s my fault he’s gone...” Ruby Rayner sighed and while fingering the rose beads she held, muttered some scripture phrases.

”Big brother’s death was an accident, how could it be your fault?” Summer Spencer raised her eyebrows in surprise, unable to imagine how Ruby Rayner, a woman so out of touch with worldly affairs, could have done anything.

Ruby Rayner shook her head, smiled bitterly and said, ”If it’s meant to be, it will be; if it’s not meant to be, don’t force it.”

”If it weren’t for my stubbornness, he wouldn’t have been born, and wouldn’t have suffered this fate.”

Summer Spencer: ”...”
