Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 477: Chapter 259: Let Me Make It Clear to You (Third Update)

Blake Leaf was stunned, not speaking for a long time.

It wasn’t until they arrived at the hotel where Blake was staying that he turned to look at Spring Spencer and said, ”...Aren’t you even a bit regretful? Do you know what you’re giving up?”

”I know, of course I’m regretful.” Spring Spencer knocked on the steering wheel angrily, ”I’ve worked for the Spencer Family for so many years, and suddenly I have nothing. Do you think I’m not sad?”

”But you think that by staying with the Spencer Family, I could get the inheritance rights?—No, it’s impossible now. Seeing how my father is, since Winter is the only son, he’s bound to focus on raising him.”

”I used to think that as long as I worked hard and performed well, my father would always notice me.”

”But what happened today made me realize that all my father can see is whether I’ll cause trouble for his beloved youngest son...”

As Spring Spencer spoke, she even turned her head to wipe away a tear.

Blake Leaf frowned and said, ”I understand your thoughts, and I also think Mr. Spencer is being somewhat unfair. But... but if you could just endure a bit longer, is there really a need to give up the inheritance rights like this? I sincerely think you should reconsider; don’t end up like me. Clearly, my parents left so much for me, but unfortunately, my sister and brother-in-law took it all...”

Upon hearing Blake Leaf’s words, Spring Spencer, who was initially very angry, sighed with understanding when she thought about Blake’s situation and background, and said, ”Our views are different, but I understand your feelings. Forget it, I’ve already made my decision anyway...”

”How can you just decide like that?! Haven’t you considered my feelings?!” Blake Leaf suddenly erupted, no longer as accommodating as before.

The veins on his forehead bulged, his brows tightly furrowed, and the corners of his mouth turned down sharply.

Spring Spencer tightened her grip on the steering wheel for a moment before relaxing it and saying lightly, ”...I’ve already spoken my mind. If you’re not satisfied, there’s nothing I can do. Let’s leave it at that, I’m heading back. Get out of the car.”

She didn’t even look at Blake Leaf, her eyes slightly red, seemingly about to cry.

Blake Leaf glanced at her, unbuckled his seatbelt, and got out of the car to leave.

...

Cameron Spencer and Brooke Osborne took little Winter to the most renowned children’s hospital in Z City.

Fortunately, even though it was the first day of the lunar New Year, the doctors and nurses were still working as usual.

Since children can get hurt being mischievous or feel unwell without considering the day.

Cameron Spencer’s subordinates had managed to secure an expert appointment, and after a short wait, he and Brooke, along with Brooke’s parents, met with the doctor.

The doctor examined little Winter, especially after hearing Brooke mention the earlier symptoms and the need to use an asthma inhaler to ease his breathing, his expression grew serious.

”Asthma can be brought about by genetic or external factors. If neither of you as parents have asthma, it is likely caused by external factors.”

”Among these factors, environmental aspects are a significant cause of asthma, especially the indoor environment.”

”For example, did you smoke during pregnancy and childbirth, or if you didn’t smoke yourself, were you around people who did? These are important triggers.”

Brooke Osborne couldn’t help but glance at Cameron Spencer and said to the doctor, ”I don’t smoke, and my husband didn’t smoke in front of me while I was pregnant. It’s just... it’s just... after the child was born, he sometimes smoked cigars when we were together.”

”Cigars?!” The doctor was surprised, ”For those who smoke, cigars might not be as harmful as cigarettes, but it’s different for children. How long have you been smoking cigars around the child?”

Cameron Spencer, thinking about his habit over the last couple of months, began to sweat on his forehead and murmured, ”...Only recently, a month or two maybe.”

After the child reached two months old, he wasn’t as cautious and vigilant as before.

The doctor didn’t say anything further, beginning a series of tests on little Winter.

After half an hour of tests, the doctor regretfully said, ”Your child indeed has asthma. But in modern society, asthma is not an incurable disease. Moreover, he’s still young, and there’s a high possibility of recovery. As long as you follow medical advice and take good care of him...”

...

After returning from the children’s hospital, Cameron Spencer didn’t go back to Brooke Osborne’s big mansion with Brooke and her parents, but instead went to Hazel Winchester’s place.

Hazel Winchester’s house was also a villa, but the location wasn’t as prime as where Brooke Osborne’s mansion was, relatively speaking.

In all of Z City, it’s still one of the top locations.

Cameron Spencer, with a face like water, walked into Hazel Winchester’s villa’s living room with the support of a cane.

Hazel Winchester was on the phone, and seeing Cameron Spencer enter, she quickly hung up and stood up, smiling, ”It’s New Year’s Day today. I was just talking to my second brother about visiting Mr. Spencer to offer our greetings.”

Smack!

Cameron Spencer raised his arm and slapped Hazel Winchester across the face.

Hazel Winchester was knocked off balance and fell to the ground.

She held her face, looking up in disbelief at Cameron, tears of pain streaming down her cheeks, and choked out, ”Mr. Spencer, what did I do wrong? Why did you hit me?”

”What did you do wrong?” Cameron crouched in front of her, using his cane to lift Hazel’s chin, coldly saying, ”What’s the story with those cigar butts? Don’t tell me you don’t know anything!”

”The cigar butts? I don’t understand...” Hazel’s eyes spun around, clearly insincere.

Cameron had been willing to be with her because he thought she was dumber, that even if she did something bad, it was always on her face, making it easier to control.

But it was this point that made him lower his guard.

But for all her transparency, the bad thing still happened!

Thinking about how his youngest son may have developed asthma due to his own negligence, he felt a burning rage towards this woman.

”You don’t understand? Then let’s make you understand!” Cameron suddenly roared in anger, standing up coldly, ”Feed her those cigar butts! Make her eat them all!”

...

On the evening of New Year’s Day, Summer Spencer was called to the hospital by a phone call.

”Is this Miss Spencer? Your mother, Hazel Winchester, is currently being rushed in for surgery. The cause is swallowing a large amount of cigar butts, some of which have irritated her lungs. Her condition is critical.”

Summer Spencer’s eyes widened in shock, ”What did you say?! How could my mom swallow cigar butts?! You must have made a mistake, right?!”

The doctor spread his hands, ”The CT scan confirms it, and we are making a final attempt to save her. You need to be prepared.”

Summer Spencer still wanted to say something, when she suddenly saw her father’s personal secretary standing nearby, slowly shaking his head at her.

Summer Spencer covered her mouth, stifling the last bit of a sob.

After the doctor left, she asked Cameron’s personal secretary in a trembling voice, ”...What exactly happened? Does my dad know about this?! My mom must have been framed, right? Right?!”

The secretary shook his head lightly and said, ”I don’t know what happened, but according to the housekeeper at your mother’s place, it’s said that your mother felt guilty after knowing that little Winter developed asthma from the cigar butts she sent to Mr. Spencer, and then tried to commit suicide by swallowing cigar butts.”

Summer Spencer initially didn’t react, still insisting, ”How could that be? Little Winter developed asthma due to his poor constitution, not because of smoking cigar butts!”

Cameron’s personal secretary didn’t say anything further, just looked at her.

Summer Spencer’s face gradually turned pale, her fists clenched, pressing tightly against her mouth to prevent herself from screaming.
