Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 472: Chapter 256: Paired Up (Third Update)

Gabrielle Winters was completely taken aback by Kenneth Osborne’s question.

She was momentarily stunned before shaking her head and saying, ”He hasn’t come to see Lawrence all these years, so why must we find him for Lawrence’s wedding?”

That reasoning was indeed very powerful.

Kenneth Osborne even felt that his question was somewhat excessive.

He immediately nodded and said, ”You’re right. Forget it, then. At the time, we’ll have Uncle Nick walk Lawrence down the aisle instead. It’s the same.”

The old Daoist turned back at this moment, shouting, ”What about me? What about me? How could you forget me! — I’ll take my little apprentice grandchild down the aisle!”

Gabrielle Winters and Kenneth Osborne burst into laughter.

Gabrielle Winters said, ”Great, that’s good fortune for our Lawrence!”

The old Daoist laughed heartily, staggering back to his room.

Kenneth Osborne and Lawrence Winters helped Gabrielle Winters carry the already asleep Nick Zeller back to his room.

Gabrielle Winters’s bedroom was next to Nick Zeller’s bedroom.

After seeing Nick off, she walked to her own bedroom door, nodded to Kenneth Osborne and Lawrence Winters, and said with a smile, ”You two should go rest too. I’m going to sleep now.”

Kenneth Osborne and Lawrence Winters exchanged a smile, watching Gabrielle Winters close the door in front of them.

Kenneth Osborne took Lawrence Winters’s hand and headed towards where they were staying.

Lawrence Winters’s hand was soft and warm, even sweaty in the palm.

Kenneth Osborne tilted his head, giving her a sidelong glance, and said with a smile, ”Nervous? Didn’t expect me to suddenly bring up marriage?”

Lawrence Winters gave him a playful look and said, ”A little, but it wasn’t entirely unexpected. But Kenneth, do you really want to get married so soon? You know, once you succeed in your career, you’ll become even more sought-after...”

Kenneth Osborne said seriously, ”Nora, but I only want to marry you.”

That sentence touched a woman’s heart more than any sweet talk.

Lawrence Winters was no exception. The sweetness in her heart was like the first batch of honey the bees make in spring, so thick it could overflow.

She didn’t know how to express it, so she simply squeezed Kenneth Osborne’s hand and said, ”Me too.”

Kenneth Osborne’s lips couldn’t help but curl up, but he was afraid to smile, worrying that Lawrence Winters might get embarrassed.

He could only hold back, softly saying ”mm.”

The two said goodnight to each other at Lawrence Winters’s bedroom door.

Lawrence Winters reached out to push her bedroom door open. Kenneth Osborne turned to leave, but neither of them made further moves. It was as if they suddenly remembered something, and they turned their heads in unison to look at each other.

The lights in the flat were all off, except for a few dim night lights in the hallway near the bedrooms.

They emitted a warm yet ambiguous glow.

Kenneth Osborne looked at Lawrence Winters, seeing only her face, more beautiful than the moonlight, in the faint glow of the lights.

His heart pounded, faster and faster, uncontrollably.

Lawrence Winters was also very nervous. Her body was even somewhat stiff; it was as if her brain had stopped functioning. Her rational mind almost shouted to stop.

But she didn’t retreat, nor did she heed her ”rational” mind. She just gazed at Kenneth Osborne for a long time, waves of heat surging in her mind like fireworks exploding.

Kenneth Osborne’s eyes were intense. Suddenly, he reached out, pushing Lawrence Winters into her bedroom and following her inside.

...

The next day was New Year’s Day.

In previous years, Lawrence Winters would always wake up early to go around to Gabrielle Winters and Nick Zeller to ask for red envelopes.

This was a substantial sum for her over the year, and Lawrence Winters never missed out on it.

However, she did not manage to wake up early this year.

She slept in until almost noon, still not awake.

Gabrielle Winters and Nick Zeller got up early to prepare breakfast in the kitchen, only to find Kenneth Osborne had already prepared it and was bringing it to the dining room.

They both laughed, took out the red envelopes they had prepared, and handed one to Kenneth Osborne, saying, ”Nora hasn’t woken up yet. Here, this is for you first.”

”Thank you, Aunt Gabrielle. Thank you, Uncle Nick,” Kenneth Osborne said with a smile as he accepted it. He added, ”It’s still early. Let her sleep a little longer.”

Gabrielle Winters and Nick Zeller nodded together, ”It’s fine, she’ll wake up soon.”

Unfortunately, this time, they were both wrong.

The old Daoist didn’t get up until a little after ten in the morning. When he went to the dining room for breakfast, Lawrence Winters still hadn’t woken up.

Gabrielle Winters was a bit uneasy, frowning, she said, ”What’s going on with Nora? Why hasn’t she gotten up by now?”

Kenneth Osborne blushed slightly, but with his head down reading his phone, no one noticed his unusual expression.

Nick Zeller, suffering from a headache from drinking too much the previous night, held a mug of strong tea and lazily said, ”What’s with that girl? Has she gotten engaged and now looks down on our red envelopes?”
