Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 491: Chapter 266: Daughters Grow Up and Can’t Be Kept

Lawrence Winters waved his hand impatiently, ”I know. Mom, you really don’t have to worry about it. When it comes to driving, seriously, in the entire Capital City, I would say I’m number two. No one dares claim to be number one.”

Gabrielle Winters: ”...”

This kid always boasts, no clue who he gets it from.

But seeing Lawrence looking so happy, Gabrielle didn’t want to discourage him. She smiled and nodded, ”Alright, go freshen up, dinner’s almost ready.”

After Lawrence went back to his room, Nick Zeller headed to the kitchen to see the Daoist.

He closed the kitchen door and restlessly paced around the Daoist, looking as if he wanted to say something but hesitated.

The Daoist noticed but didn’t ask him anything.

Until Nick couldn’t hold it any longer and said, ”Master, why don’t you care about me at all?”

”You’re already in your forties, and you still want me to care?” The Daoist gave him a sidelong glance, ”Do you think you’re Lawrence?”

”But you obviously know I have something to say... and you didn’t even ask...” Nick gave a resentful look.

The Daoist shook his head, ”You hesitated for so long without saying anything, which means you actually don’t want to say it, so just don’t. We followers of the Celestial Path Sect value going with the flow of nature. What’s going with the flow? It’s not doing what you don’t want to do.”

Nick: ”...”

He twitched at the corner of his eye, ”Master, is this the way of nature? That doesn’t seem like what our Celestial Path Sect says.”

”Hmm, that’s my own creation.” The Daoist took the dish out of the pot.

Every day, he ensured three meat, three vegetables, one soup, with a choice of rice, noodles, or pancakes as the main dish.

He dished out the three meat dishes, the vegetables were cold dishes, and the soup had been simmered for a while, just needed to be served in a clay pot.

Nick saw the Daoist’s response, shook his head, and said, ”Well, I want to talk. It’s like this, Kenneth’s sister, brother-in-law, their parents, and little kid just arrived today. You know, Kenneth mentioned that his brother-in-law bought a house for his sister in our neighborhood.”

”Oh, they finally came,” the Daoist laughed, ”So, things that have to come will always come. Either build a wall to block armies or earth the waters, but your worried look will make them suspicious of you.”

”Why would they suspect me?” Nick spread his hands, ”What’s this got to do with me?”

”Exactly, what’s this got to do with you?” the Daoist chuckled, ”If it really has nothing to do with you, then stop looking so worried.”

Nick laughed awkwardly, ”...Actually, it’s my fault. I couldn’t resist testing something... so I’m suspicious that person might be targeting me.”

”Not necessarily.” The Daoist seemed indifferent, washing his hands with soap at a slow pace, ”Don’t lose your composure. Let’s just observe the changes.”

...

Kenneth Osborne was packing up to head home.

He got into his car and called Brooke Osborne using his Bluetooth headset.

Brooke actually wanted to inform Kenneth early in the morning.

But Cameron Spencer kept telling her parents to give Kenneth a surprise.

The old couple were all flattery towards Cameron, of course they didn’t disagree, and even controlled Brooke so she couldn’t make the call.

Only when Kenneth called her did she quickly go to her room to answer.

”Sis, how are you? Everything good? How’s little Winter?” Kenneth still acted like he didn’t know she was in Capital City.

Brooke laughed guiltily, ”I’m fine, and so is Winter.”

”Really? That’s great. I was thinking of visiting you guys in the Southern Region when I have time. When are you free so I can visit?” Kenneth asked casually.

Brooke felt more guilty, lowered her voice, and murmured, ”Kenneth, here’s the thing, we... we... me, Mom, Dad, Winter, and your brother-in-law, are already in Capital City.”

There was a pause on Kenneth’s end for over ten seconds before he said in surprise, ”Really? When did you guys arrive? Should I come pick you up?”

”No need, no need. We just arrived, and we’re in the same neighborhood as you guys.” Brooke relaxed, seeing Kenneth wasn’t mad at their unannounced visit, and laughed, ”It’s too late today, maybe tomorrow, we’ll come to see you and Lawrence, okay?”

This was actually Cameron’s suggestion.

His time in Capital City was limited, so he had to solve the important matters first.

Kenneth intentionally said, ”Tomorrow? I have a few meetings, but since my sister came all this way, I must accompany you, I’ll cancel my meetings.”

”Ah? Won’t that affect your work?” Brooke felt even more embarrassed, ”If I’d known, I should have communicated with you about this.”

A simple message could solve the problem, and deep down, she wanted to give Kenneth a surprise...

Brooke didn’t want to analyze her true intentions.

Kenneth didn’t mind.

He could avoid it for a moment but not forever.

However, he was certain his parents wouldn’t let Cameron leave Brooke and her child alone in Capital City.

They’d definitely go back to the Southern Region with him, so their current issue was only temporary.

But Kenneth couldn’t quite figure out what was here that Cameron found so interesting.

He instinctively felt it wasn’t about him.

Because if Cameron wanted to meet him, there had been countless opportunities in the past year without such grandeur.

So, who exactly was Cameron after?

Kenneth was worried it was about Lawrence.

This little girl could really stir up trouble.

But other than offending Summer Spencer back then, he couldn’t recall her doing anything else.

And how could Summer hold such a high position in Cameron’s heart?

Kenneth soon thought of that Peach Wood Sword and how his sister told him about Cameron’s strange demeanor towards it.

Could it be because of Nick?
