Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 56: Chapter 46: Forced to Leave with Nothing (Second Update)

Gregory Quinn looked at him with hatred for a while, then only dared to spit on the ground and turned away.

But he hadn’t walked far when he was grabbed by the residential area’s property management. ”Spitting on the ground, fine of five hundred. --You’re still a candidate for the president of the property owner committee, yet you don’t even adhere to the cleanliness rules of the area?”

...

Gregory Quinn’s ranting didn’t cause much trouble for Nick Zeller and Lawrence Winters, but it did cause tremendous harm to Brooke Osborne.

Mrs. Osborne only found out what happened today, and she returned home in a rage, slapping Brooke Osborne several times across the face.

”You ungrateful girl! How dare you get a divorce?! You’re thirty now! You’ve been married, not a young maiden anymore; how will you ever get married again?! Are you going to live off us for the rest of your life?!”

”It’s one thing to get divorced, but how come you didn’t even get the house?!”

Mr. Osborne also said coldly, ”Not only did you not get the house, your foolish daughter took on fifty thousand in debt, and I just heard from Gregory Quinn that she signed some contracts and owes Nick Zeller a million!”

”What?!” Mrs. Osborne was so angry she nearly fainted, ”You, you, you... how did I give birth to such a fool! I should have drowned you in the toilet when you were born!”

The couple’s anger flared up, and their curses were incredibly harsh.

Although Brooke Osborne had mentally prepared herself, she didn’t expect it to be so painful and hard to accept when it happened.

She locked herself in her room and didn’t come out for two days.

Only when Kenneth Osborne knocked to bring her food did she reluctantly open the door a crack and take the meal.

Because she couldn’t bear to refuse her brother.

On the third day, it was the day she and Gregory Quinn were due in court, so she emerged from her room.

Kenneth Osborne was startled.

He hadn’t seen her in two days, and Brooke Osborne was noticeably thinner.

”Sis, don’t be too sad.” Kenneth Osborne quietly comforted her, ”I’ve already talked to mom and dad; they were just angry at the time and won’t scold you anymore.”

In fact, he had given his mom an ultimatum, saying that if she continued to curse Brooke Osborne like that, he would never return home.

Mr. and Mrs. Osborne didn’t take his words seriously, but they restrained themselves out of concern that cursing their daughter too much might upset their son.

They knew the bond between Kenneth Osborne and Brooke Osborne was very deep.

Brooke Osborne came out of her room with a blank expression and said indifferently, ”I’m fine. Will there be a result from the hearing today?”

”Uncle Nick said there’s no problem, as long as the judgment is made.” Kenneth Osborne said as he took Brooke from home to the courthouse.

In today’s court hearing, Brooke Osborne and Gregory Quinn were both defendants. Nick Zeller and Lawrence Winters were represented by lawyers, sitting alongside them.

As soon as the hearing started, Gregory Quinn’s lawyer stated that he was deceived and unaware of the contract, denying its validity.

Gregory Quinn’s lawyer also said, ”Although this contract was signed during the marriage, my client was completely unaware of it, and given Brooke Osborne’s good relationship with Nick Zeller, we have reason to suspect this contract is fraudulent and hope the court will nullify it.”

Nick Zeller’s lawyer had already prepared all kinds of evidence and witnesses.

He stood up calmly and said, ”Defendant Gregory Quinn claims he was deceived and completely unaware of this contract, never having engaged in any ’psychological consultation’ transaction.”

”However, on the second day of the first month, he was shouting for help downstairs from my client’s place, and at that time, a third party captured video footage.”

”Additionally, on the second day of the first month, defendant Gregory Quinn’s neighbors confirmed he was driving away Nick Zeller and Lawrence Winters from his home, indicating my clients were indeed present.”

”Finally, your wife signed the contract, proving this transaction indeed took place.—All this evidence shows they did come to your house for ’psychological consultation’.”

”Moreover, Nick Zeller’s company has already paid over ten thousand in VAT for this contract. If you don’t pay, they definitely have reason to sue you.”

Gregory Quinn’s lawyer never expected Gregory Quinn to have actually had interactions with Nick Zeller, originally thinking all this happened completely without Quinn’s knowledge.

It seems Gregory Quinn hadn’t been truthful with him.

Faced with so much testimonial and video evidence, this lawyer couldn’t claim Gregory Quinn was completely unaware of the contract.

Moreover, it was useless to say it; the court looks at evidence.

Before long, the court declared Nick Zeller’s contract valid, and Gregory Quinn and Brooke Osborne had to pay according to the contract.

Because it was joint marital debt, and they were now divorced, the court ruled each should repay fifty thousand.

Gregory Quinn didn’t have anywhere near that much money, deciding to be a ”deadbeat” and not pay, but Nick Zeller’s lawyer presented evidence of Quinn’s previous ”bad debt,” asking the court to auction Quinn’s property to pay off the debt.

Fully understanding the case, the court agreed with Zeller’s petition, incorporating Gregory Quinn and Brooke Osborne’s marital home into judicial auction proceedings to ”make an example” and punish the ”deadbeats.”

Because the house in Temple Court Residential Area was already highly sought after, especially being newly renovated within two months and priced only at a hundred thousand, it was very popular on the judicial auction site.

Within less than a minute, someone bought the house at a hundred thousand.

After selling the house, the judicial auction site paid fifty thousand to the bank and transferred fifty thousand into Nick Zeller’s company account, settling half of the contract fee.

...

Gregory Quinn was completely stunned when he was kicked out.

He wanted to cause a scene, to refuse to move out, but the person who bought his house was no ordinary person.

That person brought a group of brothers to take over the house, and just the dragon tattoos on their bulky arms made him shudder.

He touched his deformed leg and quietly picked up a suitcase and left.

When he divorced Brooke Osborne, all the furniture and appliances in the house were bought by Brooke, and during the divorce, she had already moved them all out.

Now this house was completely empty.

He had nothing left.

In a daze, he remembered posting a confident question on Zhihu once, and someone answered: [The original poster has driven away his wealthy wife and disrupted his own fortune].
