Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2284: Chapter 2285: Reunion with Ning Zihan (5)

An Baobei found it even more amusing, ”Second Uncle, why do I feel like you’re not happy in this marriage?”

Su Chengyu immediately laughed and said, ”Not at all, I’m very happy, just not happy to have such a brother-in-law.”

An Jing and the others also didn’t want to have Ning Zihan as a relative, but Ning Zihan was good to Ning Wenxian, and Ning Wenxian couldn’t possibly not want such a brother, so there was no choice but to be polite.

Moreover, deep down they all understood that they couldn’t blame Ning Zihan entirely for the past events.

...

Ning Zihan’s father—Ning Wuze was a very cultured person with an exceptionally good temper. When both families sat together to discuss Su Chengyu and Ning Wenxian’s marriage, apart from Ning Zihan staying silent, the atmosphere was especially harmonious.

In Ning Zihan’s presence, Ning Wuze couldn’t say anything about this son of his, but when Ning Zihan went to the restroom, Ning Wuze did talk and even apologized.

”Wenxian has already told me everything. Although Chengyu’s wife went into premature labor, Zihan doesn’t bear full responsibility; however, he bears unshirkable responsibility. Zihan has a stubborn personality and didn’t apologize to Chengyu’s wife, so I am here to apologize to her.” As he spoke, Ning Wuze stood up and solemnly bowed ninety degrees to An Jing.

An Jing was startled and quickly urged Ning Wuze not to do this. After all, he was an elder, and she couldn’t afford such a grand gesture.

Everyone else also advised Ning Wuze not to do such a thing, saying that what’s done is done, and since they would be family in the future, it was best not to bring up unpleasant matters.

Despite this, Ning Wuze still bowed to An Baobei as well, still ninety degrees.

An Baobei was even more flustered and kept saying, ”Uncle Ning, please don’t do this, I really can’t accept this.”

Ning Wuze smiled and said, ”You can accept it; it’s a father’s fault for not teaching his child well.”

After Ning Wuze sat down again, he continued, ”Now that Wenxian and Chengyu are getting married, it’s indeed better not to mention those things. I’m old now but not confused. You might not like my son, but I still want to hold onto my old face and speak for him. My son’s hatred for women is all caused by his mother.”

”We are going to be one family from now on, so I’m not afraid you’ll laugh at me. Back then, I was busy with my career, focused on improving the company, while his mother liked romance. As I got busy, I somewhat neglected her, and she fell for another man, even brought that man home to fool around on our bed.”

”Zihan saw this. Zihan was only five years old at the time; can you imagine how he felt seeing his mother naked and messing around with another man on the bed?”

”He was so disturbed that he locked himself in his room for half a month, refusing to come out. When he finally did, he was like a different person, hating women immensely, especially his mother. And his mother, without consideration, continued to fool around with other men. I couldn’t bear it anymore, even if I wanted to save the marriage, so I divorced her.”

”Since I divorced, Zihan was slightly better, at least no longer rejected Wenxian as a sister. When he started hating women, he even disliked Wenxian, but later, perhaps realizing his responsibility as a brother, he didn’t hate Wenxian anymore, just never considered Wenxian as a girl.”

At this point, Ning Wuze chuckled, ”I’m not sharing this hoping you would sympathize with Zihan, but rather I wish you would understand him a bit more, and not dislike him so much.”
