Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1784: Chapter 1785: Worthless?

Seeing Tobanya so insistent, Meng Zhuqing felt extremely distressed and heartbroken. He cared for her deeply.

”Husband, please let me give birth, okay... okay? Let me give birth...” Tobanya suddenly began pleading with Meng Zhuqing.

Actually, she had pleaded once earlier; this was the second time.

Meng Zhuqing could tell that his wife was now determined to keep the child.

Originally, for a mother to want to give birth to her own child was natural; besides, she had always wanted to have a child for him. He could understand her desire. Because he understood, he felt even more compassion for her.

But he also knew well that nothing he said would change her mind.

Thus, Meng Zhuqing, barely suppressing his heartache, nodded and said, ”Hmm, I promise you.”

Tobanya instantly turned from sadness to joy and smiled, ”Really?”

”Hmm, really.” He paused, ”I’ve promised you, so don’t get too excited. Rest well and nurture the pregnancy. Come, lie down.”

”Hmm.” Tobanya obediently let Meng Zhuqing help her back onto the bed.

Meng Zhuqing saw tears still hanging in the corners of Tobanya’s eyes and wiped them with a handkerchief. After wiping her tears, he held Tobanya’s hand. Tobanya smiled at him with relief, and he smiled back at her.

Although he was smiling on the outside, he had already decided in his heart to secretly terminate the pregnancy.

Meanwhile, Gong Juechen prepared the medicinal prescription and had someone decoct the medicine into a single bowl from three.

Once the medicine was ready, An Jing took the medicine and entered the inner chamber where Meng Zhuqing and Tobanya were staying, along with Gong Juechen.

The inner chamber was very tranquil.

Upon seeing Gong Juechen enter, Tobanya happily said, ”In the future, please help me protect the pregnancy. My husband promised me not to terminate the child.”

How long had it taken to consider? He had given them a day’s time to contemplate, yet Gong Juechen did not mention anything about this consideration time. He only looked at Meng Zhuqing with a tepid expression before smiling at Tobanya, ”I heard everything outside earlier.”

To be honest, although he didn’t have any romantic interest in Tobanya, he couldn’t deny that Tobanya was indeed beautiful—even now, despite her frailty, she was a sick beauty.

Tobanya hesitated for a moment, but still thanked Gong Juechen, ”Thank you.”

”You should thank my Zhizhi. If she hadn’t prompted me, I wouldn’t have come,” Gong Juechen replied candidly.

Even though Tobanya was beautiful, and he enjoyed looking at beautiful people, now he had his Zhizhi, whom he loved dearly. Thus, those beautiful women naturally became worthless in his eyes.

Tobanya was stunned for a moment, then said, ”I’ll thank her in person when I see her another day.”

Gong Juechen replied indifferently, ”Hmm.”

An Jing handed the medicine bowl to Meng Zhuqing, letting him feed Tobanya the medicine while she spoke, ”Drink the medicine and then rest well. Just now, Juechen told me that your recent overthinking has caused your body to deteriorate so quickly. You need to quickly lift your spirits to ensure a healthy pregnancy.”

”Hmm hmm.” Tobanya smiled and nodded to An Jing, then drank the medicine in one go. The medicine was very bitter, but she was relieved and happy. This medicine could secure her child’s future.

No matter how bitter, she still drank it.

Probably feeling at ease, after drinking the medicine, Tobanya felt drowsy and soon fell asleep.

Seeing Tobanya asleep, An Jing and the others left the inner chamber.
