Chapter 1759: Chapter 1760: Offended Him

Her fifth son smiled at her like that, especially cute, An Jing couldn’t help but laugh too, ”I say you’re a little beauty, but I think you’re actually a little fool. Mother is scolding you, yet you’re still smiling at Mother.”

Saying that, An Jing pulled the little beauty, An Yiqi, into her arms and hugged him. Then, she took out a cloth, dabbed it in water, and cleaned An Yiqi’s little hands covered in mud.

While wiping An Yiqi’s hands, An Jing said, ”I used to think your third brother was mischievous, but now it seems you’re the naughtiest.”

An Yiqi just kept grinning, smiling up at An Jing.

An Jing found it amusing, ”The more I look at you, the more you remind me of your third brother. When your third brother was little, he smiled at me just like this. No, back then, your third brother only knew how to smile, just like the Maitreya Buddha.”

No matter what An Jing said, once An Yiqi’s hands were cleaned, he broke free from An Jing’s embrace, then reached his little hands towards the water basin beside them.

Grabbing the water in the basin with his little hands, he lifted his hands and splashed the water onto An Yilin.

This time, An Yilin didn’t cry. In fact, he was quite happy and also reached his little hands into the basin to grab water, splashing it back on An Yiqi.

The two brothers played with the water, having a great time.

Watching all this, An Jing couldn’t help but sigh, ”They start trouble quickly and make up just as fast.”

”Put me down... put me down...” An Yizhi was riding on Meng Zhuqing’s shoulders and, seeing his two older brothers playing with water, became anxious and clamored for Meng Zhuqing to let him down.

Meng Zhuqing obliged and put him down.

The moment his feet hit the ground, An Yizhi ran towards the water basin, joining his two brothers in splashing around.

The three little beauties wore expressions of pure joy.

An Jing, Xiao Changyi, Tobanya, and Meng Zhuqing watched from the side. It was just a basin of water; they weren’t by the river, so they let the children play. At worst, they’d have to change clothes. As long as the children were happy.

At this moment, Qin Yi came in to report: ”Your Majesty, Your Highness, the Minister of Revenue and his young son request an audience.”

An Jing asked, ”For what purpose?”

”This subordinate is not entirely sure, but they said they’re here to apologize.”

Apologize?

An Jing and Xiao Changyi exchanged glances, then An Jing said, ”Let them in.”

”Yes!”

The Minister of Revenue’s last name was Shen, and Minister Shen’s young son was about the same age as Jing Xingqingyun.

Upon seeing Xiao Changyi and An Jing, Minister Shen pulled his young son down to kneel: ”Your servant pays respects to Your Majesty and Your Highness.”

Young Master Shen’s face was bruised, and he had a white cloth wrapped around his forehead, clearly showing a head injury.

An Jing and Xiao Changyi were puzzled when they saw Young Master Shen like this, but they did not ask about it.

Being direct, An Jing questioned the purpose of Minister Shen’s visit: ”We heard you came to apologize. What are you apologizing for?”

Minister Shen immediately kowtowed again: ”My humble son was rude and offended the Third Prince. We’ve come specifically to apologize.”

Upon hearing this, An Jing narrowed her eyes slightly: ”Are you suggesting that your son’s injury is related to the Third Prince?”

Minister Shen kowtowed once more: ”My humble son offended the Third Prince and was punished by him. It’s entirely my son’s fault and he deserves it.”

An Jing and Xiao Changyi immediately exchanged glances, as did Meng Zhuqing and Tobanya. Although An Yiqing was mischievous, he had never hit anyone before. How could he have hit someone this badly today?
