COTE: A Man On A Mission || Love is War?

Hachiman found another QR code sticker behind a chair.

[Ding! Scan successful!]

After scanning using flatbed, a new question popped up immediately.

This is a question written in Japanese.

This is Hikigaya-kun’s strong point, so there is no need to trouble academic elite group.

He chose answer himself.

[The answer is correct, you get 10,000 personal points, do you choose to receive it? ]

Cut! Cut!

Hikigaya-kun refused without hesitation. Everyone only has one chance to receive the reward, so how could he bow down for such a loser?!

However, a QR code has just been scanned, and now you can continue answering.

This means that a contestant can scan multiple QR codes and answer at same time.

Then you can get reward information of multiple QR codes at once, which is extremely efficient.

But this is not something ordinary people can do.

“Ding ding!”

At this time, Hachiman received a text message on his mobile phone.

The top student in group gave the answer. Let’s choose B.

[The answer is correct. You get 30,000 personal points. Do you want to claim it?]

“….” ’Where is my reward of +5 bonus marks? What bad luck! You!’ But I still have to report to Ichinose and others that all private points for this exam will go to her, and Ryuen’s class needs points from the written exam. So, it depends on whether Ichinose and others will pay attention to these 30,000 points....But, where is my bonus of 5 marks after solving a question?’

“Hikigaya!”

At this time, Ibuki waved her hand towards Hachiman who is standing in a daze.

He walked over and found that she had already filled in form according to answers of the top students.

Then the tablet with brightened light showed [The answer is correct. You will receive a reward of +10 points for all subjects’ written test scores. Do you want to receive it?]

???

’It seems that fools really have good luck. In an instant, Ibuki got what she needed most as a poor student.’

[Ding! Congratulations on getting +10 points in all subjects’ written exams.]

Ibuki completed the collection.

Hachiman’s phone vibrated again, and Ichinose herself replied to the message, saying there was no need to claim 30,000 points for time being.

In other words, goal is to get a reward of more than 100,000.

Good, very energetic!

“Drop!”

The open-air theatre is huge and number of QR codes in area is impressive.

However, Hachiman and Ibuki scanned a total of 4 QR codes, and rewards included 2 codes worth 10,000 personal points, 1 code worth 30,000 personal points, and 1 code worth +5 points for written test scores of all subjects.

Because it is only +5 points for all subjects instead of 10, and it cannot be changed after receiving it, Ryuen has not yet decided whether to give it to students in his class or sell it.

So Hikigaya-kun and others waited here for a while.

Then a student from Suzune’s class came over.

The two sides met.

“Hikigaya...” The boy was a little surprised, actually he never talked to main characters before, so he was feeling very nervous, “Um...”

“I heard Ryuen say that you can spend 150,000 points to get a bonus of 5 points on written test scores of all subjects....” In other words, he was introduced by Ryuen.

Hachiman actually just contacted Teacher Chabashira and asked her that since everything can be purchased in this school, how much is the price for purchasing a written test score for a normal exam.

Chabashira’s reply is 1 point for every 100,000 points.

From this perspective, this is a reward of +5 points for all subjects, and it only costs 150,000, Ryuen, don’t you know how to do business?

However, the reality is not easy.

The students basically have little money, so more they can squeeze, the better.

“Then I’ll brush off. I have already paid the full amount of 150,000 points to Ryuen. That’s great. I was thinking that if Yukimura didn’t help me, there would be nothing I could do....”

Then he saw on the tablet [Congratulations on receiving a bonus of +5 points for all written exams, which has been synchronously displayed in the OAA data.]

The boy immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

He probably didn’t know how to get along with others, so left after receiving his reward.

Ibuki looked at his back.

“This guy…. isn’t he Ike Kanji?”

“What? No way, let me check...Hey, it’s really Ike!” Hikigaya-kun was really shocked, by this change in attitude.

Ike Kanji has experience in camping and is in love with his classmate Shinohara.

He is a teammate of Ayanokouji’s team in uninhabited island exam that just ended.

At the same time, after Shinohara and Komiya were attacked, he chose to take care of girl, and directly gave up, left group of Yukimura and Ayanokoji.

What a selfish bastard.

“Normally speaking, if someone doesn’t know the answer to a question and reports it to Yukimura, he might help him....”

But Ike said that Yukimura ignored him, so there was only one reason.

Because of Ike’s unauthorized departure during uninhabited island exam, Yukimura’s dissatisfaction with him escalated.

Therefore, if there really were another exam in which students could decide on their own whether to drop out of school, then original class with such chaotic relationships would probably explode.

Hikigaya-kun sighed again.

“We should change places. It’s bad luck here....”

“Then let’s go.” Ibuki had used up all four chances to enter QR code, and then she also received a 10-point reward for written test, which meant she had completed her goal.

At same time, more and more students are pouring in.

Hachiman only has one last chance to scan QR code. Started walking out.

“Somewhat unhappy,” However, Ibuki suddenly said as she walked a bit fast than usual, “Ryuen arranged for Shiina and Kaneda to assist Ichinose and others as a group of top students. Ryuen himself has other tasks to arrange. They excluded me. But even asked Komiya to stay and perform other tasks.....”

Does this mean you feel excluded?

Actually, not really.

Hikigaya-kun knew that reason why Ryuen arranged for Ibuki to team up with him was, on the one hand, to protect him since he earned a large amount of points, and on other hand, she was not smart enough.

Since Hiyori and Kaneda are smart people, they were naturally assigned to do exercises.

And Ryuen himself, just like he did just now, contacted Ike to come over, saying that he wanted to be an intermediary to sell goods.

Ibuki would definitely not be able to do this. So, it would be better to arrange her to protect Hikigaya Hachiman.

“But you only have one more chance to scan the QR code. So the next time you get the chance to scan, if you give up reward, you will have to take the school’s consolation prize of 5,000 points to finish the exam, Hikigaya. Or should we go back and scan QR code that gave us 30,000 points? At least we know those points are worth....?”

Is this because Ibuki-san is worried that if Hikigaya-kun swipes last QR code, he will still get a miserable reward of 10,000 points?

Then known 30,000 points would be more attractive.

“According to agreement, private point rewards are given to Ichinose’s class to choose. If we go to earn points without permission, it would be considered a breach of contract. Although I only have one last chance to scan, I don’t think it’s very dangerous. In fact, there is a plan that may be able to get a QR code with a confirmed written test score + 10 or 1 million points......”

“There is no shortcut. You can only scan code and answer the questions honestly. Only when you get it right can you confirm the reward!” Ibuki retorted fiercely, after crossing her arms and even looked down.

Obviously, she didn’t believe his words.

Hachiman and others began to move towards entrance of theater.

However, just in open-air theater, one can see several forces in action.

He could see some busy second-year Class A students, among whom Hachiman spotted Yamamura, a classmate who had a charming profile but a low presence.

She was also looking for QR code.

After finding it, she started scanning it, took a photo with her mobile phone, and then waited for instructions.

Soon, an expression of relief appeared on her face.

This is a student Class A, Grade 2.

Hachiman also discovered students of Class 3-A, and it should be said that people looked very enthusiastic.

Kiryuin sat directly in center of the theater like a Queen, and students kept bringing tablets to her.

It seemed that after scanning the code, questions would pop up on tablet, and bring it to Kiryuin to answer.

While she was explaining the situation, saw a good reward and let the boy collect it directly.

For a moment, Kiryuin-senpai was quite eye-catching.

However, as a general, she was too confident and eye-catching to be present at scene in person.

This immediately caused dissatisfaction among classmates.

“Kiriyama!”

“That bitch Kiryuin seems to have solved another QR code problem!”

“The questions clearly had some out-of-bounds content, but she was able to answer them. Could it be that she was secretly studying hard behind our backs when she was in our class?”

“Or.....”

“This person is toxic, right? We invited her to serve the class before, but she refused. As a result, she was bought and started to work hard?”

“——” Hearing this, Hikigaya-kun, who was passing by, felt speechless.

However, judging from performance of students in Class A of two grades, they all worked as a team.

But there are also some that fight alone.

Some students scanned QR code and questions popped up, and then tried to answer themselves.

Very time-consuming.

Some easy questions can be answered, but some are difficult.

But, Hachiman no longer paid attention, and continued walking towards the door.

’Just as I was about to reach the door, I noticed a handsome, easy-going and innocent-looking junior standing in front of me.....’

“Oh, isn’t this Hikigaya-senpai? We meet again. But, why Kushida-senpai, isn’t here now?”

Um....This junior is Takuya Yagami.
