Berserk God of War

Chapter 296: Chapter 296: I am arrogant, my sins are monstrous

The Black-armored Soldiers of the 99th Army were already very convinced of Sikong Jing, so they simply let him ride in on the Flying Blood Colorful Winged Horse into the castle, but nobody expected that as soon as he landed, a roar of anger would follow.

What happened next was even more shocking to the Black-armored Soldiers.

Sikong Jing casually threw down a middle-aged woman, and then shouted towards the people inside the castle, ”Pan Zha, your wife is now in my hands, if you don’t want her to die, then come out.”

”Lady Pan?”

The Black-armored Soldiers stared at the middle-aged woman with wide mouths, not understanding the situation.

Finally, the sound of quick footsteps approached as Pan Zha, led by three Martial Arts Sect Realm Deputy Generals and Elder Wei, rushed out.

They were equally stunned when they saw what was before them.

A cold gleam flashed in Pan Zha’s eyes; he clearly did not expect Sikong Jing to return so quickly, and with such forceful means.

But immediately, he pretended to be anxious and puzzled as he asked, ”Brother Sikong, has my wife offended you in any way?”

Pan Zha was a sly old fox from the Long Night Black Burning Army and would not easily show any emotional fluctuation.

”Master, this bastard hit me, just for a few pounds of donkey meat in the market, right?”

Upon seeing her husband Pan Zha, Lady Pan was the first to speak up.

Right after that, she twisted the story to say that she and Mei Xiaofang had both taken a liking to the best few pounds of donkey meat in the 99th Town market, which led to a dispute...

But she did not expect that upon Sikong Jing’s return, he would slap her and accuse her of unfounded crimes.

Lady Pan spoke earnestly, and many Black-armored Soldiers believed her to be telling the truth.

At the same time, Mei Xiaofang and her husband Sui Wenzhan were blushing with rage, shaking as they pointed at Lady Pan.

Only Su Yuexi clung closely to Sikong Jing, believing that Brother Jing wouldn’t be easily mocked by the other side and must have a way to handle things.

On the other side, Pan Zha secretly praised his wife’s acting and her skill at talking nonsense.

After listening, Pan Zha sternly said to Lady Pan, ”Now you, how can you fight with Brother Sikong’s mother-in-law over meat? Don’t you know that Brother Sikong... he is General Ning’s favored one?”

The emphasis on the word ’favored’ was heavy, clearly meant to stir up dissatisfaction among the Black-armored Soldiers.

With a plop, Lady Pan knelt down and wailed, ”Master, I know my mistake, I will never dare to offend them again.”

In this back and forth, Sikong Jing was painted as a bully using his position to abuse others.

Then, Pan Zha harshly lectured her a few more times before smiling at Sikong Jing, ”Brother Sikong, you’ve hit her already, why don’t we call it even? Let’s go inside for a drink, shall we?”

After speaking, he squinted at Sikong Jing... his eyes flashing coldly, thinking you’re still too green to compete with me.

Sure enough, the other two Martial Arts Sect Realm Deputy Generals also flashed a look of strong dissatisfaction with Sikong Jing, yet they still came forward to mediate, after all, Sikong Jing was indeed General Ning’s protege.

But Sikong Jing didn’t respond, his eyes were also narrowed, and he stood unmoving.

He also stopped Mei Xiaofang and the others who wanted to speak out, just staring intently at Pan Zha.

Seeing Sikong Jing remain motionless, Pan Zha asked in confusion, ”Brother Sikong, don’t you want to settle this? Is it necessary? Over a few pounds of donkey meat? Do you want me and my wife to kneel before you?”

As he continued, his tone grew more severe, still provoking the Black-armored Soldiers’ resentment toward Sikong Jing.

Finally, Sikong Jing spoke coldly, ”No need to kneel, after all, there is no need for a dead person to kneel.”

No sooner had Sikong Jing’s words fallen than he swiftly drew the sword from the waist of a nearby Deputy General and slashed at the triumphantly smug Lady Pan.

With a single sword stroke...

The next instant, a clean head flew high into the air, and Lady Pan was decapitated, blood spraying wildly!

She died without even knowing how it happened.

And in that moment, silence engulfed the entire 99th Army Castle.

One by one, they stared at Sikong Jing and Lady Pan’s bodies in disbelief, their mouths agape, their whole bodies trembling violently.

Meanwhile, Pan Zha, who thought he had Sikong Jing firmly in his grasp, exploded with madness, crying out, ”Lady, Lady!”

He rushed to Lady Pan’s body, then lifted his head to glare at Sikong Jing, roaring with fury, ”Boy, I’ll kill you.”

The aura of a Martial Arts Sect Realm adept wildly burst forth from Pan Zha, who, blinded by anger, hurled a punch at Sikong Jing.

But Sikong Jing was well-prepared, growling, ”Golden Dragon Fist.”

True Qi infused by his Dragon Vein powered his punch.

Boom!

The two clashing True Qi blasts pierced through the entire arena, exploding outwards.

Sikong Jing remained unmoved, while Pan Zha was sent flying back several steps.

The whole crowd was stunned once more, looking incredulously at Sikong Jing.

Wasn’t he a Spirit Martial Root? Hadn’t he just barely broken through to the Innate Realm against the odds?

How could he send Pan Zha flying with a single punch? And what exactly happened here, why did Sikong Jing kill Lady Pan?

At this moment, without waiting for Pan Zha to recover, Sikong Jing spoke indifferently, ”Pan Zha, are you about to say that I murdered someone over a few catties of donkey meat? That I regard nobody, that I’m sinfully atrocious?”

At his words, the crowd’s gaze froze.

Everyone had initially thought it was truly over a few catties of donkey meat, but with Sikong Jing’s statement, no one believed it any longer.

Even if Sikong Jing was favored by General Ning, he wouldn’t kill anyone over meat.

”You played your little game, confident I wouldn’t resist, certain General Ning isn’t in the castle right now, thinking I’m just a naive youth?”

”I may be young, and General Ning might not be in the castle, but I can still kill you.”

With that, Sikong Jing took a heavy step forward, the True Qi of the eighth layer of Martial Scripture Realm soaring into the heavens, an intense, demon-like aura emanating from him, seemingly transforming into a Black Refining Dark Hook Dragon in an instant.

The aura was immense, demonic and ghostly.

He could defeat an Inner Palace Student of the Martial Soul Realm like Qian Jingfu, so naturally, dealing with the likes of Pan Zha, a Martial Arts Sect Realm fighter, was no difficult task.

While the Inner Palace Students are formidable, Pan Zha neither advanced far in the Martial Arts Sect Realm nor was he a prodigy of the Long Night Black Burning Army; having reached middle age as just a Deputy General, he was hardly any stronger than an ordinary guard.

Thud!

With another step, Sikong Jing’s killing aura and demon intent rolled towards Pan Zha like surging waves.

And Pan Zha was so pressured he couldn’t catch his breath, his face changing in horror.

Just then, two figures positioned themselves between Sikong Jing and Pan Zha; they were the other two Deputy Generals of the Martial Arts Sect Realm. One of them quickly said, ”Brother Sikong, let’s talk this over. What exactly is going on here?”

The other Black-armored Soldiers also gathered around, desperate not to let the situation escalate.

Sikong Jing halted his steps, sweeping his gaze over those around him, finally landing on Elder Wei as he asked, ”Elder Wei, if I’m not mistaken, General Ning won’t be returning to the castle anytime soon, right?”

Pan Zha, having acted so arrogantly and playing out his charade even after bringing his wife, must have known that Ning Jingjing couldn’t return for the time being.

Otherwise, all he would have felt was fear.

Elder Wei was taken aback for a moment, then nodded gently, ”Yes, I’ve just returned to the castle from General Ning’s house, and the General won’t be able to return for now.”

Hearing this, Sikong Jing nodded and turned to the two Deputy Generals, ”Then, Deputy Generals, order the troops to defend the city immediately. Lan Zhuanghe will soon besiege us, he must have received word that General Ning won’t be coming back.”

Upon hearing this, the two Deputy Generals were dumbfounded.

One of them said, ”Impossible, we’ve already given the orders to seal the news, no one is allowed to disclose it.”
