Chapter 285: Chapter 285: Senior Brother, Keep Up

”A token? Yes, I have one, given by Vice Palace Master Qin.”

Sikong Jing, upon hearing this, pulled out the token with the ”Qin” character that Qin Heng had given him and showed it to Xu He.

Qin Heng had said that with this token, Sikong Jing could freely ascend Golden Dragon Mountain.

Opening his mouth, Xu He seemed a bit confused...

After a good while, Xu He finally said, ”This seems to be Vice Palace Master Qin’s personal token, not a Golden Dragon Token.”

Sikong Jing, with a puzzled face, wondered what this was all about.

”To ascend Golden Dragon Mountain, you need a Golden Dragon Token.”

”All official students of the Golden Dragon Mountain have Golden Dragon student tokens; moreover, if apprentices or students from the other six mountains wish to ascend Golden Dragon Mountain, they need a specially granted Golden Dragon Token.”

”Only with it will the path of Golden Dragon Mountain be without oppressive pressure; otherwise, it is terribly difficult to proceed, terrifyingly overwhelming.”

Xu He continued to explain that the situation was the same for any mountain in Qilong Mountain.

For instance, ascension to Volcano Dragon requires a Fire Dragon Token, except for the official students of Fire Dragon Mountain...students or apprentices from other mountains must have a specially granted Fire Dragon Token.

Or, they need to be accompanied by a mentor or headmaster; otherwise, there is no other way.”

Sikong Jing understood now. It seemed Qin Heng had given him the token to enter Martial Dragon Palace, but not to directly step onto Golden Dragon Mountain.

He probably forgot!

Feeling helpless, Sikong Jing could only ask, ”What happens if someone has none?”

Xu He pointed at the Golden Dragon Mountain Path and said, ”Just what you’re encountering now, there will be terrifying oppressive pressure, and I’ve heard there are other horrifying challenges, but I don’t know the specifics.”

”However, there is a legend.”

”On any path of Qilong Mountain, if one can succeed in the challenge, they can directly become an Inner Palace Student, but I’ve been at Holy Dragon Palace for several years and haven’t heard of any student or apprentice succeeding.”

Upon hearing this, Sikong Jing glanced at the long and narrow Golden Dragon Mountain, his lips lightly twitching.

”That’s interesting, I’ll give it a try.”

Having said that, Sikong Jing waved goodbye to Xu He, then turned and ascended the Golden Dragon Mountain Path.

Xu He stared blankly at Sikong Jing’s departing figure, his mouth twitching repeatedly, muttering to himself, ”I haven’t even stepped on it, just the aftermath of Brother Sikong’s actions makes me feel like my body is falling apart.”

”Brother Sikong is truly a monster.”

Though he thought this, Xu He did not believe Sikong Jing could succeed in the challenge.

Inner Palace Students, aren’t they just too hard to become?

Meanwhile, Sikong Jing continuously ascended, no longer able to see Xu He at the mountain base. The horrifying oppressive force met him head-on.

At first, it was similar to the pressure emitted by a Martial Meridian Stone, but it gradually exceeded it.

Now having walked a kilometer, it was probably equivalent to three times that of a Martial Meridian Stone... But still, Sikong Jing was the Master of Ten Thousand Beasts, the pressures from the myriad beasts in the Ten Thousand Beasts Sky Prison were more terrifying than this, and he remained at ease.

Suddenly, the sound of footsteps arose.

A man came down from the Golden Dragon Mountain Path towards him, clad completely in gold embroidered with dragons, undoubtedly a student of Golden Dragon Mountain.

This man, strangely looking at Sikong Jing, said, ”Are you the new apprentice who just arrived today? Why are you still loitering here?”

After the Martial Combat Test, the official students would have each gone up to one of Qilong Mountain to be mentored; by now they were already receiving instruction up there.

Suddenly seeing a person not wearing the Golden Dragon Mountain uniform, of course, the man found it strange.

Sikong Jing found it even stranger. He himself was facing the terrifying oppressive force, yet this student seemed completely unaffected, appearing utterly unaware that he was challenging the Golden Dragon Mountain Path.

After thinking it over, Sikong Jing simply responded casually, ”Yes, I’m late.”

Not knowing is probably for the best, to avoid attracting too much trouble after all, since his own matters needed to be kept secret.

The man was stunned for a moment, then gasped, ”Then why aren’t you hurrying up? If you dawdle like this, you’ll be punished by the instructor.”

With that, the man forcefully pushed Sikong Jing.

The next instants—buzz!

At the moment he pushed Sikong Jing, his entire body violently shook.

Then a terrifying oppression assaulted him, and with a ”puh,” a mouthful of fresh blood spurted out, nearly toppling him to the ground.

Sikong Jing instinctively pulled him back and asked, ”Brother, what’s wrong with you?”

The man lifted his head, not even wiping the blood from his lips, and stared intensely at Sikong Jing, then quivering, he said, ”You, you’re not a new apprentice from Golden Dragon Mountain, you’re challenging the Golden Dragon Mountain Path.”

Upon hearing that, Sikong Jing froze again and replied helplessly, ”Brother, you figured it out?”

He was somewhat baffled, wondering how he had been found out? It hadn’t happened just now.

”What do you mean ’I figured it out’?”

In a series of strange cries, the man said, ”I’ve been dragged into it already; right after I pushed you, I was challenging the authority of the Golden Dragon Mountain Path by being judged as helping you, damn it!”

Sikong Jing didn’t quite understand, but the man went on to explain.

It turned out that any challenge on any path of Qilong Mountain should not be aided by others.

The man had pushed Sikong Jing, which had been interpreted as assisting Sikong Jing to make faster progress, naturally resulting in him being judged as aiding Sikong Jing in the challenge, and thus he was dragged into it.

”Damn, now I have to challenge the path just like you, why am I so unlucky.”

The man’s entire face was dumbfounded, he felt like he was about to cry.

Sikong Jing blinked and asked, ”Can’t we just quit?”

”Do you even understand?”

”Once a challenge is started, it can’t be quit. You must continue until you can’t go any further. Every challenger will be crushed to their core. Last time, a senior brother from Golden Dragon Mountain tried the Drunk Dragon Mountain Path and he hasn’t recovered even after half a year.”

The man’s face darkened, and he felt like spitting out another mouthful of blood.

Sikong Jing only then realized how strict the challenge on the Qilong Mountain Path was and could only apologize, ”I’m sorry, brother. You see, I’m just a Level 1 New Apprentice and really don’t understand the rules of Holy Dragon Palace.”

Upon hearing this, the man was completely dumbfounded and only after a while did he ask, ”You, you’re a new apprentice?”

”Yes.”

Sikong Jing took out his Apprentice Token to show him, and then made a suggestion, ”How about this, brother, it’s my fault you’re in this mess, so just follow behind me and I’ll see what I can do to help you get through the path.”

By now, the man was so shocked he couldn’t speak, involuntarily looking down at the endless mountain base, then back up at Sikong Jing.

A Level 1 New Apprentice, how did he even get here?

Shouldn’t he have been crushed to dust within ten meters upon starting the path?

”Brother, keep close.”

Sikong Jing had no idea what the man was thinking but said this to him before continuing upwards.

The man stared hard at Sikong Jing’s retreating figure, watching his leisurely pace, and murmured, ”Damn it, where did this Level 1 apprentice come from, to be an apprentice like this?”

Not wanting to delay, he gritted his teeth and hurried to keep up with Sikong Jing, close behind.

”Brother, how is it? Much less pressure now, right?” Sikong Jing looked back and asked.

The man nodded, indeed feeling much more comfortable with Sikong Jing leading, but he felt intensely crestfallen.

To think that I, Yisuo, a third-year official student of Golden Dragon Mountain, would be closely following behind a new apprentice.

If this gets out, I’ll be a laughingstock for sure.
