Berserk God of War

Chapter 280: Chapter 280: Specifically Targeting You

As Sikong Jing and Xu He departed, the expressions on Tao Huai and the others’ faces turned extremely unsightly.

”Damn it, who knows where his 1,000 points came from.”

”It’s probably from something he obtained during the Martial Combat Test that was needed by the Task Hall.”

The members of the Ancient Locust Society were indignant, cursing and mumbling under their breath.

However, Tao Huai coldly said, ”Since I’ve made my declaration, that kid can’t stay in the Holy Dragon Palace for a month, I must not let him complete that month, or where would I put my face?”

”Go get my cousin Tao Xie, I want to force this kid into the Combat Hall.”

The group lit up at his words, recognizing that although Tao Xie was from the Tao family and a new apprentice this year, he was just one step away from becoming an official student; his combat strength was among the best of all new apprentices.

To force that kid into the Combat Hall would be to deliver him a harsh blow, making him too afraid to stay.

...

”Brother Sikong, thank you for your trust in the Da He Association.”

”But to be honest, our Da He Association is indeed quite lousy now; we have too few skilled members that can stand up for us.”

On the way to the Task Hall, Sikong Jing had already introduced himself.

And Xu He was no longer just making a sales pitch, but sincerely sharing.

”Moreover, the Da He Association hardly has any local people from the Long Night Imperial City, they are all from outside, and thus easily bullied.” Xu He then deeply looked at Sikong Jing, sighing deeply.

Sikong Jing smiled at this and then asked, ”Have you heard of the Canglong Small Domain?”

Instantly, Xu He’s mind began racing, yet he found no information on the Canglong Small Domain.

”I come from a small domain with no experts from the Innate Realm, which the Long Night Empire only recruits from once every two hundred years,” Sikong Jing casually explained further, ”If you say you come from the frontier, what would that make me?”

Xu He opened his mouth wide, a domain that was only recruited from once every two hundred years? How lousy that must be!

However, Xu He quickly became excited, finding common ground, then asked, ”So, Brother Sikong, did you really complete three regular tasks? And shouldn’t that be just 15 points?”

Sikong Jing paused, still puzzled about the 1,000 points.

If talking about regular tasks at the Engraving Martial Hall, he had exchanged high-level Hong-grade Beast Skill for 800,000, but the tasks at the Martial Arts Hall and Combat Hall should have only yielded 10 points, so why did Yu Yan give him 1,000 directly?

”Maybe it’s a bonus for completing other tasks, I’m not quite sure myself.”

Sikong Jing casually remarked, presumably Yu Yan gave him some extra pocket points for producing a Beast Skill on his own.

He really should thank her for this.

Xu He opened his mouth, then asked, ”When did you complete the regular tasks? Was it last midnight? But that can’t be right; new apprentices only entered the institute this morning.”

He couldn’t figure out when Sikong Jing had completed the tasks; the timing just didn’t add up.

Moreover, by now many apprentices and even students were attempting to complete tasks in the three regular task institutes; even queuing up would take a long time.

”I completed them during the day the day before yesterday, I didn’t participate in the Martial Combat Test, I was brought in by Dean Tan Yue.” Sikong Jing casually replied.

At this, Xu He’s eyes widened.

His hand trembled as he pointed at Sikong Jing, stammering, ”You, you were brought in by Drunk Dragon Mountain Master Tan Yue? And then you completed three regular tasks?”

”Yes, is there a problem?” Sikong Jing found Xu He’s excitement strange.

His mouth agape, he finally realized where Sikong Jing’s 1,000 points had come from; being brought in by Dean Tan Yue was an old and stringent rule, and the three tasks were terrifyingly daunting.

Xu He, having been an apprentice for several years, couldn’t possibly be unaware of this fact.

”No, no problem at all, it’s really great that Brother Sikong could join the Da He Association.”

Xu He’s mouth was a bit dry, and he didn’t know how to explain things to Sikong Jing.

Yet his heart was thrilling with excitement.

Dean Tan Yue had finally accepted a genius.

Sikong Jing always felt there was something he didn’t know, but he was too lazy to ask more, and the two of them arrived at the Task Hall.

As expected, unlike the previous days, it was overcrowded.

Suddenly, a woman’s angry shout came from inside, ”Senior Sister Lu, what are you talking about?”

”Why are you saying my Xiangyi Grass is of poor quality? It is clearly a top-notch product, you must give me all the points.”

As this voice dropped, Xu He’s face changed in shock and he exclaimed, ”This is Ge Rong’s voice, damn it, our Da He Association is definitely being targeted by the official students on duty at the Task Hall again.”

Saying so, Xu He hurriedly squeezed into the crowd.

Sikong Jing’s expression was one of stunned amusement.

It seemed his idea of avoiding trouble was going to be difficult, the Da He Association he had joined on a whim was simply full of troubles.

However, Sikong Jing was someone who stuck to his commitments and wouldn’t quit without a very good reason.

With this thought, Sikong Jing also squeezed into the crowd.

At the counter, a small open space had been cleared, with a woman next to Xu He, her face red, arguing with a young woman dressed just like Yu Yan had been before.

This young woman was of course one of the official students on duty at the Task Hall.

Xu He occasionally chimed in to support her, but the officiating woman was haughty, sneering, ”If I say the Xiangyi Grass is of poor quality, then it is. If you argue any further, do you believe I will throw you out?”

To this, the other on-duty students just sneered repeatedly, ignoring the dispute.

The onlookers also kept jeering, mocking Xu He and Ge Rong next to him, while an apprentice-looking girl said, ”Ge Rong, you’ve lost, there’s no use arguing further.”

After listening for a while, Sikong Jing fully understood.

The woman named Ge Rong was an old apprentice of the Da He Association, competing against the apprentice girl opposite to see whose points were higher, determining who could today have the exclusive right to recruit new apprentices at a certain intersection in the Apprentice Institute Region.

But Ge Rong’s Xiangyi Grass was clearly of high quality, yet the sister on duty insisted it was not, demanding her points be halved.

This way, Ge Rong who could have won lost instead and couldn’t win the exclusive right to recruit new members for the Da He Association.

Understandably, both Ge Rong and Xu He were furious—this was deliberate targeting!

”We want to see the Task Hall Deacon, we want them to authenticate the Xiangyi Grass,” Xu He roared unceasingly.

However, the officiating Senior Sister Lu coldly sneered, ”The Xiangyi Grass has been submitted, it will not be returned to you.”

The bet-competing apprentice girl on hearing this burst out laughing, ”Ge Rong you little wench, just admit defeat, hahaha.”

All around, whether old or new apprentices, all were whispering and pointing.

Even someone next to Sikong Jing spoke up, ”Da He Association is indeed being targeted; they seem pitifully weak in the Apprentice Institute Region, I’m so glad I didn’t join them just now.”

”Hehe, they are just a bunch of unwanted rubbish gathered together,” another person sneered.

Then, someone came forward to persuade Xu He and Ge Rong not to make a scene anymore; they couldn’t win against the official students.

Their eyes were red, their faces full of resentment, but they indeed had no option.

Suddenly, Sikong Jing took a step forward and softly said, ”Senior Sister Ge, don’t you still have an item left with me? Why didn’t you come to fetch it before rushing to submit your task?”

With these words, Ge Rong subconsciously looked toward Sikong Jing, her eyes full of confusion.

Who is he? She didn’t recognize him.
