269: Chapter 269: 96th Legion, I Don’t Want It Anymore 269: Chapter 269: 96th Legion, I Don’t Want It Anymore Ding…

Suddenly, Yan Shun released a burst of Finger Light, knocking the sword out of Ning Jingjing’s hand, then he shouted, “Ning Jingjing, I’ve told you that’s enough.”

Ning Jingjing’s face was cold as she turned and stared daggers at Yan Shun, coldly saying, “Commander Yan, I, Ning Jingjing, am a woman.

Lan Zhuanghe said that I seduced a wild man, which I cannot tolerate.”

Having said this, she stepped forward, her killing intent boiling over.

A flash of coldness flickered in Yan Shun’s eyes as he took a deep breath and said, “General Lan, apologize to General Ning.”

By then, Lan Zhuanghe had crawled to Yan Shun’s side.

His face changed colors upon hearing this, and then, gritting his teeth, he said, “I’m sorry, General Ning, I misspoke earlier.”

Since Yan Shun had ordered him to apologize, Lan Zhuanghe dared not resist.

With a cold huff, Ning Jingjing paid him no more attention.

Instead, she looked back at Yan Shun and said coldly, “Commander Yan, according to the rules of the Long Night Black Burning Camp, since I’ve already taken down the castle of the 96th Legion, I should rightfully be the General of the 96th Legion, correct?”

At her words, Lan Zhuanghe’s face turned beet red.

“Correct.”

Yan Shun nodded firmly, then turned to Lan Zhuanghe and said, “Give me the Token of the 96th Legion.”

Lan Zhuanghe stared helplessly at Yan Shun; unable to resist, he could only hand over the token.

Yan Shun took it and was about to pass it to Ning Jingjing.

But just as Ning Jingjing reached out to take it, Yan Shun suddenly drew it back, saying softly, “Oh right, I suddenly remembered something.”

“There are reports that a person not from the Black Burning Army participated in this attack.

Is that true?”

As soon as these words were spoken, Elder Wei and others’ faces changed.

Yan Shun clearly knew, and had clearly seen Sikong Jing at the scene, yet he suddenly asked such a question, likely indicating trouble ahead.

Ning Jingjing glanced at Sikong Jing and replied, “Yes.”

“Then, I can’t give you this token.”

“Because it wasn’t your own troops from the 99th Army who conquered the 96th Legion; you relied on external help, which won’t convince the troops.”

As Yan Shun said this, his eyes narrowed completely.

Instantly, Ning Jingjing’s whole body trembled.

Meanwhile, Lan Zhuanghe started to snicker loudly, laughing, “That’s right, Commander Yan, you don’t know, but Ning Jingjing just used this outsider pretending to be him to deceive me, I…”

“Shut your damn mouth!” Yan Shun barked furiously before he could finish.

Did Lan Zhuanghe even have a brain?

This was the time to erase Ning Jingjing’s merits and demean the Spirit Martial Root boy.

Is he bragging about Ning Jingjing’s strategy, intending to let more people know how capable they both are?

After shouting, Yan Shun sneered at Ning Jingjing, “Of course, I am well aware of your abilities.

It’s not that you couldn’t have the token of the 96th Legion…

but you must kill that outsider to silence him.”

The last sentence was spoken in a very low voice, filled with murderous intent.

Suddenly, everyone’s face changed, and Lan Zhuanghe was ecstatic, realizing Commander Yan was still on his side.

Meanwhile, Ning Jingjing gritted her teeth.

The only person with a calm and expressionless face was Sikong Jing.

“If you silence him, won’t it be as if no outsider knew about this battle?”

“If you can’t bring yourself to do it, you can hand this outsider over to General Lan to deal with.”

As Yan Shun spoke, his face wore a mocking smile.

At that moment, Niu Canmou also leaned in and said, “General Ning, why not agree?

This is your best chance for promotion.”

Lan Zhuanghe kept chuckling, “General Ning, come on, hand over that Spirit Martial Root to me to deal with, and from today, you can reside here.

I, Lan Zhuanghe, concede.”

As long as Sikong Jing could be taken down, Lan Zhuanghe didn’t care about the general’s position in the 96th Legion.

As long as Yan Shun was around, he could quickly rise again.

Ning Jingjing stared intently at Yan Shun and took a deep breath, “The 96th Legion, I, Ning Jingjing, do not want it.”

Having said that, she swept her gaze over the people from the 99th Army around her and exclaimed, “Let’s go!”

Her voice was full of hatred and through gritted teeth, how could Ning Jingjing not understand that Yan Shun did this on purpose?

He knew that she couldn’t possibly kill Sikong Jing yet he spoke as such, simply to force her to concede.

He just didn’t want to hand over the 96th Legion to her, nor did he want Lan Zhuanghe to lose momentum.

Yet she had no choice but to concede because Sikong Jing was indeed an outsider involved.

Ning Jingjing felt infuriated and couldn’t help but halt and say, “Commander Yan, you protect this useless Lan Zhuanghe so much, I hope one day you won’t regret it.”

Yan Shun looked utterly surprised, “What is General Ning talking about?

I am not protecting General Lan, I am protecting you.”

“Great achievements require one to discard trifles and not to be merciful like a woman.”

“Kill that outsider and you could have been promoted to general of the 96th Legion and write a new history for the Black Burning Army, and I even covered up your murder, but you refused it yourself.”

Having said that, everyone around was laughing.

Ning Jingjing clenched her fists, at a loss for words.

“I, an outsider, an outsider you didn’t want, won the castle of the 96th Legion for General Ning.”

“Commander Yan, you are really something.”

Just at that moment, Sikong Jing’s voice chuckled into the conversation.

Once these words were spoken, Yan Shun’s originally pleased expression instantly froze.

His face also turned abruptly pale; he had forgotten about this.

Sikong Jing, the Spirit Martial Root, was personally dismissed by him, no matter how much Ning Jingjing pleaded.

Upon hearing this, Ning Jingjing also chuckled, feeling relieved as she said, “This matter should soon spread across the entire Black Burning Army, General Lan was not defeated by me, Ning Jingjing, but by someone Commander Yan ousted from the Black Burning Army.”

Afterward, Ning Jingjing and Sikong Jing, shoulder to shoulder, led their people away from the 96th Legion.

Behind them, Yan Shun was seething with murderous intent.

“Commander Yan, just kill that Spirit Martial Root now,” Lan Zhuanghe said through gritted teeth.

Snap!

What met him was a heavy slap from Yan Shun.

Lan Zhuanghe fell to the ground, confusedly asked, “Commander Yan, why did you hit me?”

Yan Shun’s eyes widened, pointing to his own face and said, “Because you are useless!

I placed you in the 96th Legion as a general, and you lost!

Where does that leave my face?”

“And you want me to kill that Spirit Martial Root kid?”

“If I killed him, Ning Jingjing would fight tooth and nail to report to the Supreme Commander, break ties with me, then you would have to scram from your general’s position of the 96th Legion, and me, who recommended you… what would that make me?”

“I protected your position, what more do you want?”

Lan Zhuanghe, utterly scolded, covered his face, unable to speak.

Then, biting his teeth, Lan Zhuanghe said, “Then let’s kill Ning Jingjing, since she doesn’t have much backing anyway!”

Snap!

Another slap flew, Yan Shun said, “Do you think only you and I know about Ning Jingjing breaking into the 96th Legion?

If Ning Jingjing died, how would other legions view it, and if a Supreme Commander investigates, we would both be dead.”

“Now that Ning Jingjing has left, we can still claim she withdrew voluntarily after failing to take the city, understand?”

Although the city was captured, Ning Jingjing leaving meant that Lan Zhuanghe wasn’t completely overthrown.

Other legions didn’t know it was Yan Shun who drove Ning Jingjing away.

Understanding this, Lan Zhuanghe then mumbled, “Commander Yan, that Spirit Martial Root kid killed my brother, I can’t let him go.”
