Berserk God of War

255: Chapter 255 Harsh Conditions 255: Chapter 255 Harsh Conditions At this moment, Su Yuexi asked, “How can I advance?

Is it related to Martial Arts Realm?”

If the strength of the Martial Arts Realm determined the speed of advancement, then one could simply keep cultivating and strive for a higher realm.

But it seemed not to be that simple…

“It’s unrelated, yet closely linked…”

“Because you need to undertake tasks, the tasks inside the Holy Dragon Task Hall.”

Yu Yan’s tone was gentle as she explained to the two of them.

She pointed to a huge Light Crystal Stone Plate in the center of the Task Hall, engraved with rows of characters.

And at the end of each line, there were a series of numbers, like a price tag.

“These are the tasks, for example, the first line reads ‘Requires three inner cores from a Cold Plain Leopard’.”

“It means that you can retrieve three inner cores from a Cold Plain Leopard, and then exchange them for points…

as indicated by the numbers following.”

“Completing this task will earn you 300 points.”

“To advance from a Level 1 Apprentice to the Second Level, you need 100 points, but since the Cold Plain Leopard is an Innate Martial Acupoint Realm demon beast, you definitely won’t be able to complete the task if your Martial Arts Realm isn’t strong enough.”

With Yu Yan’s introduction, Sikong Jing and Su Yuexi understood immediately.

Advancement as an apprentice was unrelated to Martial Arts Realm, but without strength, it was impossible to advance since the tasks all had a level of difficulty.

“Of course, if you’re wealthy enough, that’s also a way.”

Yu Yan added with a smile, before saying, “However, there are three routine tasks each month that apprentices must complete, and if they fail to do so, points will be deducted.

Some are directly stripped of all points and leave the Academy.”

Sikong Jing realized that what lay before him were the optional tasks, but apprentices also had to complete the three tasks stipulated by the Academy.

So even if you’re wealthy, it’s in vain if you can’t complete the tasks.

Points will be deducted.

Once points are deducted, you will be downgraded, and money isn’t meant to be squandered in this way.

Moreover, it was as Master Wen Hu had mentioned earlier, if you failed to complete them in the first month, you would have to leave.

The rules of the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace were harsh on apprentices, but they also drove the apprentices to constantly progress.

Sikong Jing quite liked this model.

This was truly a place where fists and strength did the talking, and as long as you were strong enough, you could keep rising.

At that moment, Wen Hu nonchalantly said, “Yu Yan, you take this Sikong apprentice first to check out the three tasks and introduce him to the situation.

I’m a bit tired, so I won’t go.”

As soon as his words fell, Yu Yan couldn’t help but roll her eyes at Wen Hu, clearly implying the guide didn’t want to play the role of Sikong Jing’s guide.

As for the people Tan Yue had haphazardly taken in, Wen Hu was too lazy to waste his breath on them.

Yu Yan of course understood that this new apprentice was probably not going to be any good.

Who knows from which random corner Tan Yue had snatched him up.

Wen Hu found a spot to sit down and said lazily, “The usual rules apply, don’t slack off.”

Instantly, Yu Yan understood what the ‘usual rules’ meant.

It was to set the strictest conditions to make the new apprentice leave on his own.

After all, Tan Yue often forgot about the apprentices he took in once he sobered up from drinking.

He rarely inquired about their progress and even if he did, he could find excuses to dismiss the matter…

Of course, sometimes Tan Yue would get angry, then he would have the apprentice brought back.

In essence, with Tan Yue’s haphazard recruitment strategy, the aim was to drive away as many as possible.

“Understood, Master Wen Hu.”

After Yu Yan spoke, she led Sikong Jing and the two left the grand entrance of the Task Hall.

They proceeded to the Martial Arts Hall…

Standing still, Yu Yan introduced further, “The first routine task is the Dao Inquiry.”

“Each apprentice will have three opportunities every month to enter the Martial Arts Hall, and in your first month, you must comprehend a complete Martial Skill from within the hall in those three chances, or you’ll be deemed a failure and must leave.”

“Moreover, the Martial Skill you grasp must reach at least the Lower-stage Deserted Grade.”

As she said this, she squinted her eyes, looking at Sikong Jing.

But in her heart, she couldn’t help murmuring: In fact, new apprentices only need to understand three moves, and there’s no need to reach lower-stage Deserted Grade, Heavenly Grade would suffice.

But since you are brought by Dean Tan Yue, I can only apologize.

Sikong Jing naturally didn’t know what Yu Yan was thinking, only feeling that her eyes were filled with peculiarity.

Without delving deeper, Sikong Jing nodded and said, “Is it that simple?

Then can I go in now?”

Uh?

Simple?

Even for a Level 5 apprentice, this is a very difficult task.

Soon, Yu Yan came to a sudden realization…

This guy must be Dean Tan Yue’s drinking buddy, someone who bragged when he was drunk and managed to get the academy’s entry token that way.

Her contempt for Sikong Jing deepened, but she still said softly, “Yes, I’ll take you inside.”

And so, Sikong Jing and Su Yuexi followed her into the Martial Arts Hall.

As soon as he stepped inside, Sikong Jing felt an immense Martial Arts aura washing over him.

Looking closely, he saw that the entire Martial Arts Hall was a grand hall, with every surface from top to bottom, left to right, covered in Green Jade Stone Plates.

Each Green Jade Stone Plate had different carvings on it.

There were lifelike demon beasts, martial artists demonstrating techniques, and also some strangely shaped plants and trees that could make one dizzy after a long glance, an ordinary person might even faint right there in the Martial Arts Hall.

“Scared you, didn’t I?”

Yu Yan teased with a laugh before continuing, “These Green Jade Stone Plates contain thousands of Martial Skills, and even more.”

“But they’re all scrambled up, none of the stone plates are engraved with complete Martial Skills.”

“You must find a few plates that you can combine out of this chaos, and then comprehend a lower-stage Deserted Grade Martial Skill from them.

You have three two-hour periods to do this each time.”

“The higher the grade of the Martial Skill, the more Green Jade Stone Plates you have to find, for example, lower-stage Deserted Grade usually requires eight plates.”

Sikong Jing indicated that he understood; in fact, he had already figured it out without Yu Yan’s explanation.

Each Green Jade Stone Plate was engraved with incomplete martial technique movements.

A lower-stage Deserted Grade typically requires finding eight such plates before one can comprehend them; otherwise, it’s a failure.

With this in mind, Sikong Jing asked, “Then may I start now?”

“Well…

technically you can, but I’m afraid I don’t have that much time to wait for you.”

Yu Yan hadn’t expected Sikong Jing to be ready to start his first comprehension right away, but she didn’t want to wait here for three two-hour periods.

With a smile, Sikong Jing said, “You won’t have to wait long for me.

Give me half a moment.”

Having said that, Sikong Jing stood in place, his gaze sweeping across the whole hall, already entering a state of comprehension.

Stunned for a moment, Yu Yan looked at Su Yuexi somewhat helplessly.

She asked, “He’s your boyfriend, isn’t he?

Does he always do things like this?”

“Half a moment to comprehend a Martial Skill, I think you like this kind of boastful man, but I’m afraid…”

Just then, Yu Yan suddenly stopped; she noticed that the beautiful girl beside her had also entered a state of comprehension.

What is going on with these two?

They both started comprehending already…

Especially the girl beside him, who seemed to have not even a trace of Martial Arts aura, what was she comprehending?

“It’s true what they say, ‘Birds of a feather flock together.’”

Yu Yan couldn’t help snarking, having originally intended to advise this beautiful girl not to be fooled by such a bragging scoundrel.

In the end, Yu Yan could only stand there waiting, resignedly.

But she didn’t have to wait long; in less than half a moment, Su Yuexi suddenly started moving, her whole being like a gracefully dancing butterfly, delivering palm strike after palm strike.

Even without any True Qi, she executed an entire set of complete Martial Skills.
