Berserk God of War

264: Chapter 264: Siege 264: Chapter 264: Siege The Black Steed charged forward, man and horse as one, man and spear as one…

Sikong Jing’s spear burst into the chest of a middle-aged Martial Soul Realm man, who widened his eyes in disbelief.

Wow…

The middle-aged Martial Soul Realm man never expected to die like this, unable to even withstand a single move from Sikong Jing.

He fell straight to the ground, dead and bleeding from the mouth!

Yet, Sikong Jing acted as if he had done something trivial, retrieving his spear to kill again.

Puff, puff, puff…

His spear pierced one Black Armor expert after another, and in the blink of an eye, only one middle-aged Martial Soul Realm man was left, his eyes seemed about to split open, his heart nearly exploding.

He had never imagined that someone from the Martial Acupoint Realm could be so powerful; even with Sikong Jing’s mount, it seemed unbelievable.

Run…

As soon as this thought emerged, he immediately turned and fled.

But Sikong Jing sneered from behind, “Since you’re already here, why not leave your life behind?”

With a nudge of his legs against the horse’s belly, the Black Steed swept forward like a black gust of wind.

In a blink, he was behind the middle-aged Martial Soul Realm man, his long spear slashing horizontally, and a head flew high into the air.

As the horse stopped, Sikong Jing twirled his spear, catching the head of the middle-aged man on its tip.

Then, he turned the steed around and beheaded all the Lan Family experts, tying their heads to the horse’s back.

Once done, Sikong Jing returned to the 99th Town.

Upon seeing Su Yuexi, Sikong Jing said, “Yuexi, you go home and wait for me, I’m heading to the 99th Army.”

With that said, he and the Black Steed vanished from Su Yuexi’s sight.

…

The castle housing the 99th Army was now completely surrounded by Lan Zhuanghe’s 96th Legion.

Lan Zhuanghe stood coldly at the forefront of Black-armored Soldiers, shouting toward the 99th Castle, “Ning Jingjing, come out.”

But the castle doors remained closed, silent.

“Ning Jingjing, if you don’t come out, believe me, I will storm the castle this instant!” Lan Zhuanghe roared madly.

In the Long Night Black Burning Army, the lower the number of the legion, the more powerful it is, equipped with soldiers of higher realms, greater numbers, and superior weapons.

Ning Jingjing was the weakest among all the ninety-nine legions.

She had the fewest Black-armored Soldiers, only thirty thousand.

In contrast, because of his connections and background, and being part of the 96th Legion, Lan Zhuanghe was significantly stronger than Ning Jingjing.

Upon receiving the news that his brother had died under Sikong Jing’s spear at Xingluo Palace, Lan Zhuanghe led his troops to attack without a second thought, regardless of mixing personal grievances with official duties, unbowed by fear.

Ning Jingjing, albeit being pretty and rather capable, had no significant background.

Thud, thud…

Finally, heavy footsteps echoed from atop the castle.

Accompanied by Elder Wei, Ning Jingjing appeared high above, speaking down, “Lan Zhuanghe, just try attacking!”

Her voice was ice cold, sweeping across the fifty thousand Black-armored Soldiers of the 96th Legion below as she continued, “The Long Night Black Burning Army has decreed, the castle is the last line for any Black Burning Legion, and whoever attacks it shall be killed without mercy!”

Lan Zhuanghe had fifty thousand soldiers, twenty thousand more than Ning Jingjing.

Along with superior quality of soldiers and arms, his forces were almost double in strength.

Upon hearing her words, Lan Zhuanghe’s face twisted grotesquely as he responded in a low voice, “The Long Night Black Burning Army also has a decree; if two legions bear enmity, they may attack the opponent’s castle, and the victor may seize the castle and establish a new Commander.”

He could hardly be unaware of the rules of the Long Night Black Burning Army; he had already thought of a pretext for attack.

Ning Jingjing’s lips lightly twitched as she spoke indifferently, “Then attack the city.”

In the Long Night Black Burning Army, it was possible for legions to attack each other, but usually, one would need to apply for permission, and someone would oversee the operation to control the battlefield and prevent excessive casualties.

However, Lan Zhuanghe had connections, so he did not apply.

And in these inter-legion battles, it was generally only necessary for the victor to eliminate the opposing legion’s general and appoint a new one!

Many cases involved lower-numbered legions attacking higher-numbered ones to seize the position of the general, like Lan Zhuanghe’s situation which was extremely rare, because there was little to boast about in winning.

But if he won, he could request the abolishment of Ning Jingjing’s generalship.

“Come and attack, let’s see if you, a defeated subordinate, can capture my castle,” Ning Jingjing called out again.

Lan Zhuanghe’s expression changed again; Ning Jingjing’s capability was well-recognized.

She was still the general of the 99th Army mainly because her own realm was still weak, and she had only recently become a general.

Before becoming a legion general, he had been defeated by her several times, which left Lan Zhuanghe’s information not very comprehensive.

Suddenly, Lan Zhuanghe’s lips twisted into a cold smirk.

“Ning Jingjing, I don’t want to escalate this, surrounding you was only meant to prevent you from going to save that Spirit Martial Root boy,” he said.

“Hehe, he will soon be taken back by my people to the Lan Family, to be flayed and deboned,” he added.

As soon as these words came out, Ning Jingjing’s complexion drastically changed.

The next instant, a small black bird suddenly landed in Lan Zhuanghe’s hand.

Upon seeing the note attached to the little black bird, Lan Zhuanghe burst out laughing, “The Spirit Martial Root kid indeed failed to become a student of the Xingluo Palace; he has returned.”

This little black bird had naturally been sent by the guards from the Lan Family who ambushed Sikong Jing.

They had happily reported to Lan Zhuanghe upon seeing Sikong Jing, never expecting to be killed by someone of the Martial Acupoint Realm.

You must know, whether in numbers or in Martial Arts Realm, they were far stronger than Sikong Jing.

At this, both Elder Wei and Ning Jingjing’s expressions changed drastically.

Elder Wei had reported to Ning Jingjing that Sikong Jing had broken through to the Innate Realm and had especially reported his terrifying combat prowess, both believing his admission into Xingluo Palace was a certainty.

But Xingluo Palace unexpectedly didn’t accept him.

Why?

Even though he was a Spirit Martial Root, since he had reached the Innate Realm, shouldn’t the Long Night Xingluo Palace value him a little?

Lan Zhuanghe’s laughter rose again: “That kid is done for.

I am currently wondering whether to have someone bring him here first, chop off his hands, and then take him back to my Lan Family.”

In that instant, Ning Jingjing’s expression turned extremely ugly.

“I have decided to have someone bring him over first.

I want you to watch him continuously begging for mercy, pleading for you to come out of the city to save him.”

“I don’t need to attack the city.

I am actually looking forward to seeing whether you will lead your troops out to attack me.”

“Hahaha…”

Amidst his laughter, Lan Zhuanghe wrote down a note, tied it to the little black bird, and released it back into the sky.

He then stared mockingly at Ning Jingjing on top of the castle, appearing utterly self-satisfied.

“Squeak…”

Suddenly, a miserable cry of a small bird came from a distance; the little black bird flying toward 99th Town was suddenly hit by an arrow, and then, with a gasp, fell down, the darkness obscuring the distant archer.

Lan Zhuanghe’s expression solidified: “Who dares shoot my messenger bird, show yourself.”

The sound of horse hooves thudded; a large black steed appeared from the darkness, bearing a figure who was toying with a dead black bird, extracting the note from it.

Then, a deep voice rang out: “First bring me to the outskirts of the 99th Castle?”

“General Lan, there’s no need for such trouble, I have already arrived,” said the figure, slowly making himself visible in the light of the fire, naturally Sikong Jing who had rushed over from the 99th Town.
