Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2275: Everything can be delivered? (3)

The others fell silent for a moment.

Ye Zhongming had, somewhat by accident, hit upon something that resonated with these people: the appeal of tasks.

This organization was high-end and full of secrets, but one thing remained constant—they were all here for money, as well as things that money could not buy.

And the volume of tasks directly affected their earnings.

As founders and top-tier members, they could choose not to accept tasks that were too simple or had low profit margins—the cost-benefit ratio was too low. But members of other levels could accept them. As long as tasks were completed and profits were made, the organization took a cut, and from those cuts came their dividends.

Who wouldnʼt be happy to make money without doing anything?

Once there were tasks, people were needed to complete them.

The members here were all people of status and position in real life; they had many other matters to attend to, and even their gatherings were spaced far apart.

So when each member chose tasks, they tended to pick those with high cost-effectiveness, which meant that many posted tasks often went uncompleted.

As Ye Zhongming had said, someone who could accept and complete a large number of tasks was welcomed—no, enthusiastically welcomed—by the organization.
There was another point that made everyoneʼs hearts stir: Ye Zhongming had said that he would be posting a large number of tasks. Such occurrences were rare, happening only when a member or founder was experiencing major events. Each time, it brought the organization substantial profits and increased its intangible influence.

Moreover, A11, represented by Kunzuo, was among the earliest members to join the organization and the most outstanding of that batch—his words carried significant weight.

”As for Candidate 3, the reason I choose him is not that he stands out among the others, but because Candidates 1 and 2 are not essential to us.”

Ye Zhongming looked at those around him and elaborated on his reasoning: ”As senior members, they are qualified—even excellent. But I say they donʼt need to become top-tier members because what they excel at, I also excel at.”

Everyone was slightly surprised and looked back at the profiles. They found that Candidates 1 and 2 had different areas of expertise. Candidate 1 was very skilled in weapons and equipment trading, having completed forty percent of such tasks in the entire organization over the past year. Candidate 2ʼs area of expertise was... all kinds of unusual tasks. It seemed hard to define at first glance, but after reviewing the specific tasks he had completed, Ye Zhongming essentially determined that this was a highly knowledgeable person, with deep research in various fields, always able to resolve many othersʼ doubts and use his knowledge to tackle all sorts of tricky problems.

For Candidate 1, Ye Zhongming made a simple and crude guess: he was either a Taros Red Dwarf master craftsman or one of their agents—though certainly not a top-tier one. Ye Zhongming thought the agent scenario was more likely, since those dwarvesʼ physical traits were too distinctive.

He had conflicts with the Taros Red Dwarves, so Ye Zhongming naturally did not want such a person to come in. Moreover, whatever the Taros Red Dwarves could do, he could also do—letting a competitor in was something Ye Zhongming could not accept.

As for Candidate 2, he was either a ”universe know-it-all” who had lived for a very, very long time, or someone backed by a team with vast knowledge and technology. Such people were usually old monsters, or the chief technology officers of supermajor and major races.

Although Ye Zhongming could certainly not compare with such a person, he had the Library Palace behind him. In terms of breadth of knowledge, number of secrets, mastery of history, and so on, who could compete with those scholars?!

So whatever Candidate 2 could do, Ye Zhongming could also do—and do better.

By eliminating Candidates 1 and 2, the choice became clear.

Ye Zhongmingʼs words clearly made everyone in the room reconsider. The ten founders were no exception; they had actually had a unified opinion before, which was why they had placed Candidates 1 and 2 at the top.

But they trusted Ye Zhongmingʼs words, because over the years, A11 had proven himself many times. Since he said so, he must be able to deliver.

In that case, Candidates 3 and 4 were indeed the better choices.

The resolution was quickly passed, and Candidates 3 and 4 were promoted to new top-tier members. Their numbers would become a21 and a22, and their masks would be updated accordingly. As for their previous numbers and masks, they would be reserved for future qualified new members.

It was worth noting that senior membersʼ numbers began with ”b,” and regular members with ”c.”

Once promoted, the new top-tier members—no, a21 and a22—walked in excitedly. This was an unexpected surprise, with no prior indication.

The introductions were simple: a nod, followed by the new members introducing themselves.

a22 spoke first, but Ye Zhongming could tell at once that this was a seasoned smooth talker. He seemed to say a lot, but nothing substantive. He sounded like he could do anything, yet also like he could do nothing.

But that fit the organizationʼs style.

When it came to a21ʼs turn, Ye Zhongming paid much more attention. He did not care much about a22; after this, he would have Jie Su find an opportunity to probe the person who had helped him procure those warships. But a21 was different—this person had an ability that Ye Zhongming highly valued.

After a21 finished introducing himself, Ye Zhongming suddenly asked, ”I noticed in your completed tasks that many of your actions seriously violated the laws of the cosmic races—almost to the point of being reckless.”

A21 smiled and said, ”I think itʼs fine. What I do is on the edge—ʼ seriously violatedʼ is a bit of an overstatement. But I do have a relatively bold temperament; as long as the reward is sufficient, I dare to do anything. Isnʼt that true for all of us here?”

His tone carried strong confidence.

”Oh, then what about transporting certain things?” Ye Zhongming asked casually.

”It depends on what is being transported, where itʼs being taken from, and where itʼs going. But still, as I said, as long as the price is right, it doesnʼt matter whatʼs being transported.”

Ye Zhongming looked at him and, in a heavier tone, asked, ”Truly anything?”

”Truly.”

”Good.” Ye Zhongming leaned back into his chair and said no more, but he had already made up his mind.

It had been a long time since he left Earth. He did not know how everyone at the villa was doing. Although the next pickup date was approaching, there was still some time left. Could he use other means to bring his people up to the sky?

If this a21 truly dared to transport anything and could transport anything, then it might not be a bad solution.

The base prepared for the friends and subordinates at the villa, located just outside Dark Strip City, was nearly finished. Perhaps it was time to start bringing them up to the sky, step by step!
