Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2238: Various thoughts

It was indeed better.

But! When Jie Su heard this price, he found it hard to believe.

Why?

Because the price was too low.

This made Jie Su suspicious from the bottom of his heart.

Five point five billion—that was the price the Su Clan had intended to offer earlier. Of course, that was a price that did not require anyone to die.

Or rather, it was a price to buy back Elder Huo Zhi alive. As for whether the Huoʼer Star people would continue to pursue the matter after leaving here, no one could guarantee that. But they probably would not pursue it publicly; at most, they would begin to show hostility toward the Su Clan and the minor race alliance of Dark Strip City from then on.

But at least it would get them past this immediate crisis.

The Su Clan understood this clearly; so did Prince Delma not understand it as well?

No, he understood it very well. For someone who had raised his succession rank by more than ten places in just over a decade, if he could not figure this out, that would be underestimating those successors he had killed, crippled, or made disappear.
If he had asked for three billion or four billion, Jie Su would not have been surprised at all. In fact, he would have thought that price more believable.

After all, this was a perfect opportunity to exploit the situation. Soft-hearted? Kind? That did not exist. The other party would certainly take advantage of the situation to gouge them. That was the nature of inter-racial relations.

Direct, cruel, cold-blooded and without a trace of warmth, without a trace of mercy, without a trace of leniency.

If they chose the second method, it could solve the problem once and for all. Then the Su Clan would not be facing a Huoʼer Star people with a blood feud, but a Reina Star people who knew their secret. The impact and harm these two would bring to the Su Clan in the future were certainly different.

To put it bluntly, with the Huoʼer Star people it was ”this matter is not over,” while with the Reina Star people it was ”you are slandering me.”

One meant they would inevitably bear responsibility; the other meant they could deny it in every way possible.

That was the difference. So Jie Su did not believe that Delma would be so kind-hearted as to ask for only two billion. Moreover, even if they were only assisting, they would still suffer casualties, and they would have to deal with a peak expert armed with a Lie God-grade weapon. How would the losses be accounted for?

There was another point: this was Delmaʼs private action. But once they jointly attacked the Huoʼer Star people, the Reina Star peopleʼs high command would certainly find out—after all, so many warriors would be participating in the battle. Then, would a mere two billion be enough to satisfy this most powerful race? Especially on the basis of five point five billion?

Jie Su thought it unlikely. The Reina Star people would surely think they were asking for too little, because the ones they would be offending were the Huoʼer Star people, who were equally powerful. The risks they took were not proportional to the rewards.

Since that was the case, would Delma make such a mistake?

No. So Delma was not telling the truth. What exactly was his real purpose?

………………………………

While Prince Delma was negotiating with Jie Su, over on the Huoʼer Star peopleʼs side, Kirsailting was also speaking with Kunzuo.

”Lord Kunzuo, how have you considered it?”

Kirsailting said.

Kunzuo looked at this same-level expert before him, frowning in thought.

This man had come to him with a single central idea: the Reina Star people could stand on the Huoʼer Star peopleʼs side, using this matter to suppress and exploit the Su Clan, taking the opportunity to weaken this third pole among the myriad races of the universe. If they could make the Su Clan collapse or even perish, so much the better.

Of course, this would require a finderʼs fee. If proposed in the Cosmic Races Law Council, with two super clans applying pressure together, the Su Clan would basically have no power to resist. The Reina Star people would want twenty percent of all subsequent benefits.

If they wanted to resolve the issue here first, vent their anger and then settle accounts with the Su Clan after leaving, then the price was straightforward: all the spoils of war from the Su Clan and the minor race alliance, plus two hundred million Moonspan Gold, plus compensation for all Reina Star casualties.

Compared to the first method, this second one would clearly be more satisfying to the Huoʼer Star warriors here. Blood for blood, revenge without delay—these were the principles of these super clans. They believed this helped enhance their raceʼs deterrent power.

”In fact, Lord Kunzuo should know that Jie Su holds a very high position in the Su Clan, especially now that he has become a great expert. His status in the Su Clan will surely soar, making him the first successor. With such a Jie Su, plus an Elder Huo Zhi who can trap beings at our level, what price do you think they would be willing to pay to save their lives?”

Kirsailting said, not without a hint of persuasion.

Jie Suʼs status was clear to anyone with eyes. Before, he had been just a gradually rising genius youth. Now, he had become a pillar of the Su Clan.

There was no helping it. The Su Clan had not produced any truly extraordinary figures for too many years. The number of their great experts could not compare not only with super clans but even fell somewhat short compared to some large clans.

They only barely maintained their current position through their formations.

Kunzuo nodded. To gain more benefits, one naturally had to start with the Su Clan. Earlier, why had he not accepted the five point five billion? Besides his unwillingness, he had also suspected whether the Su Clan would actually bear that loss. What if they just pushed all the blame onto Huo Zhi and sacrificed one elder to preserve the entire clan? Then the benefits he would receive would actually be extremely limited.

But if they had Jie Su in hand, that would be different.

The Su Clan would surely bleed for their rising star.

”And your prince?”

Kunzuo suddenly asked.

Kirsailting smiled and said, ”He always has to keep the Su Clan people settled. After all, our forces have not yet arrived.”

”It seems you are certain I will choose to wipe out the opposition here?”

”If it were me, I would choose that. From any angle, it is the most advantageous.”

”When will your forces arrive?”

”The day before the Planet Hunting Ground ends.”

”Then... itʼs settled.”

”Pleasant cooperation.”

Kirsailting stood up after speaking, then withdrew from the Huoʼer Star peopleʼs camp. After waiting for a while, Prince Delma also returned.

”No opportunity?” Delma asked in a calm tone.

The Reina Star peopleʼs peak expert nodded: ”During our conversation, I could sense that he was constantly on guard against me. You know, my strength was already somewhat inferior to his to begin with. Now, it is only because he is wounded that I have some confidence. But that is contingent on him being less cautious. And clearly, this guy values his life greatly. He kept a sufficient distance from me at all times, and those great experts were just outside the tent, ready to support him at any moment.”

After hearing this, Delma nodded and sighed, ”It seems we need to change our strategy.”

He thought for a moment, then said, ”When is the earliest the Crown Guard Regiment can arrive?”

”At the earliest, two days from now. After all, they must always remain in a state of readiness to enter battle at any moment.”

Hearing Kirsailting say this, Delma asked with some concern, ”Two days from now... you and Kunzuo...”

Kirsailting smiled: ”Rest assured, Your Highness. In two days, although Kunzuo will have recovered somewhat, he will definitely not have fully recovered. I am more than capable of handling him.”

Only then did Delma smile with relief.
