Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2241: Bunch of untrustworthy

At this moment, Delma was in a very sorry state. If he were facing one great expert, even a very senior one, he would have various ways to cope. Even if he could not win, he could still withdraw with ease.

As a high-ranking successor of the Reina Star people, he certainly possessed that much ability.

But just now, he and his guard, two great experts, had been facing several times their number of enemies. Even one strike from each of them would have been enough to wear them down. He now had several wounds still bleeding, and internally, he felt a burning, searing pain. A sign of severe injury.

Yet under such adverse conditions, Delma keenly noticed that when he thought he could no longer hold on, the several great experts of the Huoʼer Star people suddenly reduced the intensity of their attacks.

This discovery revived Delmaʼs heart, which had already begun to despair.

He quickly found the reason why these people had acted this way.

Delma thought of two possibilities. First, the Huoʼer Star people did not want to be the ones to personally kill him, so that if the matter were ever exposed later, most of the blame could be shifted onto the Su Clan.

Second, they might want to take him alive. After all, the Reina Star peopleʼs main force was about to arrive, and they might not want to go all the way.

Either possibility was good news for him.

The second one went without saying. As long as he was not dead, even if captured, there was a great chance of survival. As for the first, if they wanted the Su Clan to make the killing move, Delma felt he also had a good chance of surviving, because the Su Clan side only had two great experts involved in attacking him; the other Traitor Dragon was dealing with his own great expert guard.
And of the two great experts, one was Jie Su of the Su Clan, whose combat effectiveness... was limited. Their specialty was ultimately in formations. As for White Robe, although he was very annoying, as an assassin, in an open and direct fight, his role was also limited.

So... an opportunity!

Delma felt his chance had come. He had a way to quickly leave the battlefield, but it required a little time to prepare.

So when Jie Su and Ye Zhongming approached, he was not afraid, nor was he thinking about how to deal with them. Instead, he had already chosen an escape route in advance.

He knew that once he left, Kirsailting would also find an opportunity to leave; no one could stop him. As for his guards and the others, he did not care at all whether they lived or died.

But suddenly, Delma sensed danger, even greater than when he had been under siege just now.

He noticed that a giant hand had appeared beneath his feet, gripping his lower body. Meanwhile, Jie Su, directly in front of him, had dropped two formation disks beside him.

Ye Zhongming was certainly not stingy with his brothers when it came to things like Purple Luo Zinc and such.

Delma quickly withdrew the small device that would have helped him escape, which he had already taken out, and instead directed his energy downward.

Several rays of light pierced through the giant earthen hand. The Life-Severing Grip, which had been almost unstoppable until now, lost its effect, and after the light broke through, this ability began to dissolve.

But Jie Suʼs formation disks began to take effect. More than ten green vines emerged from the surrounding ground, using the brief moment when Delma was temporarily unable to move to wrap around his body.

It had to be said that the high-ranking successor of the Reina Star people was truly formidable. Even under such adverse conditions, he responded swiftly. Sparks somehow emerged from his equipment, directly igniting the vines, rendering this ability ineffective within seconds.

From the moment Ye Zhongming launched his attack, Delma had been bound to the ground for at most five seconds.

But that was enough time for White Robe to launch many attacks.

Two flashes of cold light appeared from the darkness. One streaking toward Delmaʼs neck, the other thrusting toward his heart.

Delmaʼs hands became covered in a thick, black, viscous substance, precisely blocking the strikes and keeping the two cold lights at bay.

Blood splattered everywhere. Both his palms were wounded, but he had withstood White Robeʼs fatal attacks.

However, Ye Zhongming had quietly reached Delmaʼs rear after launching his attack, and the weapon in his hand viciously thrust toward his back.

With a clang, Ye Zhongming retreated rapidly, his body swaying before he steadied himself. A crack had appeared in his weapon.

Although it was only Red Condensation-grade, such a situation was still rare.

The Cloud Peak King looked in one direction. A great expert of the Huoʼer Star people was sneering at him.

Since Ye Zhongming had not reached the great expert level and his attention had been on Delma, being suddenly attacked, achieving this outcome was already quite good.

But he was now somewhat uncertain about what the Huoʼer Star people meant. Capture alive? Or did they have other intentions?

Delma had escaped with his life, and his heart calmed. He could now be certain that the Huoʼer Star people did not want to kill him, at least, not right now.

Being as clever as he was, he quickly realized that the Huoʼer Star people had no intention of letting the Su Clan off. They wanted to see a direct conflict between the Su Clan and the Reina Star people.

They wanted to pin the attack on the Reina Star people onto the Su Clan! And he himself would be the witness, as well as the condition for his survival.

But would the Su Clan allow this? Certainly not. They could not bear the pressure of offending both the Huoʼer Star people and the Reina Star people at once, so they would inevitably want Delma dead, even if they had to deliver the killing blow themselves.

The sounds of battle around them suddenly erupted. It was the outer forces clashing with the Crown Guard Regiment. Although the latter were fewer in number, their individual combat strength was greater, so for a time they managed to push close to the battlefield where Jie Su and the others were.

This gave Delma even more hope of survival.

As for whether the Huoʼer Star people worried that he would not speak as they wanted, Delma knew he had no choice.

On one hand, there was the crime of arbitrarily challenging two major races, which would very likely cost him his succession status. On the other, there was being a victim and shifting all the blame onto the Su Clan. Even a fool knew how to choose.

Although the situation had improved greatly, and the Huoʼer Star people did not even want Delma to die, would they easily let him go?

No, they would not. Because they only needed Delma to stay alive. Everyone else was just spoils of war, especially Kirsailting. If this man died, it would be a major blow to the Reina Star people. With one side weakened and the other strengthened, the Huoʼer Star people would gain even more benefits.

Moreover, a peak expert carried items of exceptional quality on them. Even if they did not have Lie God-grade equipment, they certainly had multiple Raini-grade pieces, and possibly other valuable things.

It could be said that every peak expert was a mobile treasure trove. How could the Huoʼer Star people possibly let such a treasure trove go?

After the Huoʼer Star people changed their stance, the situation on the battlefield became very unfavorable for the Su Clan and the minor race alliance.

But had the Su Clan foolishly failed to anticipate this situation?

Clearly not. After failing to kill Delma the first time, Jie Su simply observed the situation briefly and immediately issued an order.
