Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2230: Contingency

Back on Earth, Ye Zhongming had already admired the Mechanical Prodigyʼs abilities, feeling they were on par with his own Glory Smith, and that it was one of the most comprehensive abilities he had ever seen.

Now, seeing him silently take control of Wen Hongʼs body and turn it into his own mechanical war puppet, that feeling grew even stronger.

At present, it seemed that a high-quality mechanical war puppet could even increase the Mechanical Prodigyʼs strength. This... was a bit overpowered.

But for the time being, Ye Zhongming had no interest in discussing this matter with the little boy. After taking some recovery medicine, he, Jie Su, and White Robe hurried to the mountainʼs interior. They now needed to teleport from there to Black Book Absolute Peak to rejoin the main force, hoping that upon arrival they would not be greeted by a field of corpses.

The few of them arrived in the mountainʼs interior and found that the flickering sparks here had disappeared, leaving only the ʼcoffinʼ and the energy door it emitted.

”Challengers have been defeated. Unlock the remaining forty percent information rights. View now?”

Ye Zhongming and the others exchanged glances. What did this mean?

Could it be that this trial was now over?

Naturally, they could not view this now because there was no time.

Ye Zhongming stroked his chin and suddenly had an idea.
”Wait a moment. When we leave, you pack this up and see if it works. Then wait for us at the base.”

He said this to the Mechanical Prodigy. What Ye Zhongming wanted him to pack up was that coffin. He felt that the trial for this thing seemed to have ended with them.

The Mechanical Prodigy agreed, then watched as the three of them tapped on the planetary patterns on the energy door and disappeared.

He walked around the coffin, glanced at the little girl who showed no interest in anything except him, then controlled Mechanical Wen Hong to embrace the coffin. With a sudden effort, he actually lifted it up.

At that moment, the surroundings began to shake. The metal ground and the pillars and such on the coffin frantically retracted, not disappearing, but retreating into the coffin. After about two minutes, the mountainʼs interior returned to its original state, leaving only the metal coffin held by Mechanical Wen Hong under the Mechanical Prodigyʼs control.

”Letʼs go,” the Mechanical Prodigy said. He had the little girl, whose body was draped in ice, sit on his shoulder, and they sprinted outward.

………………………………

Black Book Absolute Peak.

To be honest, no matter how much they had mentally prepared themselves beforehand, when they truly arrived here and faced the Huoʼer Star people, not only the minor race alliance but also the Su Clan members were apprehensive. That was why, despite having an overwhelming advantage, they momentarily did not know how to face these Huoʼer Star warriors, who numbered only one percent of their own.

On the contrary, these Huoʼer Star warriors, who had grown accustomed to throwing their weight around among the cosmic races of the universe, seized the momentum. Their two great experts stood before the alliance of several hundred thousand and loudly berated and threatened them, and no one dared to talk back.

Of course, there was another reason for this: the Su Clan and the minor race alliance did not yet know how Huo Zhi and those one hundred and twenty formation masters were faring. After all, all they could see were those massive energy walls, and no one knew what was happening inside them.

Even the Su Clan members could not figure out whether Huo Zhi currently had the upper hand or the lower hand. When the energy walls were finally removed, would they see Huo Zhiʼs smile or the ferocious army of the Huoʼer Star people? Thus, they hesitated, vacillated, and were lost.

It was at this moment that Jie Su and the others teleported nearby. After determining the direction of the main force, they rushed over to rejoin everyone.

This caused a huge stir on both sides.

On the Huoʼer Star side, they had already been certain of Huo Zhiʼs reason for attacking here, because it was practically a confession: he had killed His Highness Zimu and, fearing exposure, had struck preemptively.

But they had heard from Lord Kunzuo that the perpetrators should be a few young people and a Traitor Dragon Clan member. The few from the Su Clan and the Star-Eye Clan fit the description perfectly. Combining these two factors, they had already identified the killers.

But now, when they saw Jie Su, White Robe, and White Dragon Horse, this notion wavered.

Because they discovered that these few were now great experts! Even that dragon was one!

And they were quite certain that the perpetrators had not been at the great expert level. The Traitor Dragon Clan member who had lured Zimu had only been in its juvenile stage, not an adult Traitor Dragon.

The only similarity was probably their color.

If the Star-Eye Clan and the Su Clan had not been the ones to act, then why would they have had Huo Zhi attack Black Book Absolute Peak?

They were now somewhat confused about the situation.

On the Su Clan side, there was likewise an uproar.

The reason they had acted so decisively was that their rising star might have been captured, and they had come to rescue him; or he might have been killed, and they had come to silence the witnesses.

But in fact, the few had not been captured at all. In fact, they themselves said that the peak expert had not even gotten a clear look at their faces.

Had they not been discovered?

Then everything they were doing now...

The high-ranking members of the Su Clan and the minor race alliance already wanted to curse.

This whole affair was a blunder!

But things had already progressed to this point, so they could only continue.

Fortunately, Huo Zhi had left a contingency plan precisely to prevent this situation. The Star-Eye Clan had also left one, but for now it seemed it would not be needed.

The contingency plan Huo Zhi had left behind was a story: a tale of a personal grudge between him and Kunzuo, and of his desire to kill Kunzuo in revenge.

It sounded childish, but the descriptions and evidence Huo Zhi had left behind told a gripping and convincing revenge story, with all the times, places, people, and their intersections matching perfectly. Anyone who heard it would think, ”Oh, so thatʼs how it was!”

In fact, everyone felt that with a little embellishment, this would surely be a tragic and stirring story of endurance, heroism, and defiance against tyranny! And also, could Elder Huo Zhi really have had a grudge against Kunzuo involving the murder of his wife and family?

After a brief discussion, everyone decided to follow Huo Zhiʼs account.

If they did not do this, they would be letting down this elderʼs meticulous preparations.

”Itʼs a good thing we arrived in time. But Old Ye, do you think Elder Huo Zhi might have intended from the very beginning to shoulder everything himself?” After reading the story, White Robe voiced this suspicion.

Ye Zhongming nodded. At this moment, he did not know what to say or do.

Representatives of the Su Clan began to communicate with the Huoʼer Star people outside. On the one hand, they feigned weakness and conveyed the story of their revenge to the other side. On the other hand, they took a firm stance, insisting that under no circumstances should the Huoʼer Star people harm Elder Huo Zhi, and that everything should await a public trial before the cosmic races of the universe.

Fierce arguments and confrontations erupted between the two sides over this.

Just then, the energy walls that had caused utter despair among all the Huoʼer Star people on both sides suddenly flickered a few times violently and then vanished.

Amidst the dispersing mist, the disheveled Lord Kunzuo was revealed, his head covered in blood and his eyes filled with hatred. In his hand, he held Elder Huo Zhi, whose fate—life or death—was unknown.
