Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2239: You arenʼt too smart

After the fierce conflict that had erupted earlier, the two camps had set up their positions not far from each other. Many warriors could look up and see the situation on the opposing side, and many felt an unusual sensation in their hearts.

Perhaps it was a kind of confusion about what the future would bring.

But during the night, some chaos occurred.

Two people were killed. One from the Su Clan and one from the minor race alliance side.

As for the perpetrators... they were not caught.

By the time the bodies were discovered, dawn was almost breaking.

This made the situation, which had already eased somewhat, tense up again.

Everyone had their own circles; even if they did not, they still had their own race.

The deaths of two people made both the Su Clan and that minor race extremely angry.

The perpetrators were naturally not from within the alliance. Over the past few days in the Planet Hunting Ground, the Su Clan and the Dark Strip City minor race alliance had developed good relations and cooperated well. Some had even become friends, and naturally there had been no conflicts between them.
So who had killed these two people? The answer seemed easy to arrive at.

But the alliance members remained relatively calm; after all, there was no evidence. Even if they went over to the Huoʼer Star people and confronted them, the other side would not admit to it.

However, hostility toward the other side naturally arose. Patrols were visibly intensified, and vigilance against the Huoʼer Star people increased.

Jie Su, Ye Zhongming, and the others all went to examine the bodies. After a brief discussion, they returned to calm their respective subordinates.

There were still five days until the Planet Hunting Ground ended, meaning that according to their mutual agreement, they would have to wait another four days before any action could be taken. It seemed everyone was conserving their strength.

But unexpectedly, on the second night, the scale of these deaths and vendettas expanded further. That night, more than thirty people died. Twelve from the Su Clan and twenty-one from the minor race alliance, including two Star-Eye Clan members, one of whom was a Bronze Camp warrior.

This time, things got somewhat out of control immediately, not only because of the number of deaths, but also because the twelve Su Clan bodies had been arranged in a strange pattern and placed in the temporary supply depot.

This was a direct provocation.

The Su Clan people were generally very low-key, adhering to the principle of staying quiet and avoiding trouble if at all possible. But that did not mean they could remain indifferent when their clansmen were killed.

Anger was steadily accumulating.

The minor race alliance side was much the same; some even directly shouted for revenge. Among the more than twenty dead was a clan leader of a minor race, who had brought a thousand warriors here. No one had expected that he would survive the hunting and defensive battles at Overlapping Water Dead Zone, only to die here in such a miserable state. His clansmen were naturally unwilling to let it pass.

However, everyone still had their wits about them. They knew it was unlikely they would go all out and fight to the death over these lives.

In the end, Jie Su, Ye Zhongming, and others went to the Huoʼer Star people to negotiate on behalf of everyone, but the results were unsatisfactory. When the few of them came out, their faces were pale.

That night, deaths occurred once again. Unlike the silent assassinations of the previous two nights, this time a direct conflict broke out somewhere. Illuminated by the firelight, at least three hundred people were involved. By the time the higher-ups on both sides intervened to quell the conflict, casualties exceeded one hundred, with sixty-eight dead.

Adding the previous covert clashes, the death toll alone had already surpassed one hundred.

For three consecutive days, the death toll had multiplied!

The smell of gunpowder between the two sides was palpable to all.

That night, the higher-ups of both sides met again, but this time the location was no longer inside the Huoʼer Star peopleʼs camp, but in the open ground between the two camps.

But the results were still poor. After a heated argument, they came close to exchanging blows.

From a distance, Prince Delma smiled leisurely.

On the fourth day, with only two days left until the end of the entire Planet Hunting Ground, both sides had raised their vigilance against each other to the highest level, staying awake all night to watch the other.

Unfortunately, chaos still broke out.

No one was quite sure how it happened—it seemed as though the fighting between the two sides had suddenly erupted. The entire camp descended into chaos. Countless energy blasts and skills flew through the air, scaring off the flying creatures that had been watching from the surroundings.

During the battle, one side could often be heard shouting for revenge, while the other shouted back with insults...

Not far away, Delma laughed even more heartily than the day before.

”The Crown Guard Regiment did well!” praised the fifth successor prince of the Reina Star people. ”To successfully provoke conflict even under the tight defenses of both sides is truly commendable.”

The dozen or so people beside him, including Kirsailting, watched the chaotic battle of several hundred thousand below with a hint of excitement.

”However...” Delma suddenly withdrew his smile and said to the peak expert beside him, ”The original plan was to use two days, but they were calmer than we expected, so it took until now to achieve our goal. That guy Kunzuo—he hasnʼt fully recovered, has he?”

After hearing this, Kirsailting shook his head and said, ”With more time, naturally he would have recovered better as well. But I think at most he has recovered to about seventy percent of his previous condition. After this battle, he will certainly be wounded again. When that time comes...”

”When that time comes, I can still kill you!”

Before Kirsailting could finish his sentence, Kunzuoʼs voice rang out. He abruptly looked up and saw the Huoʼer Star peopleʼs peak expert in midair, coldly staring at him.

Prince Delmaʼs expression changed. Wasnʼt this man supposed to be leading the Huoʼer Star people in attacking the Su Clan and the minor race alliance?

”Surprised to see us?” Jie Suʼs voice came from the darkness. He slowly stepped out, and emerging from other directions were Ye Zhongming, White Dragon Horse, Ming Qi, and several of the Huoʼer Star peopleʼs great experts.

In the darkness, no one knew how many more lives were hidden, waiting.

”If you really thought that, then it only shows that you are too arrogant and that you take us for fools,” Jie Su said, shaking his head.

”How... how did you figure it out?” Delma said as he rapidly formulated a countermeasure.

”Whether it was your asking price or sending people to provoke and assassinate us, none of it was particularly clever. If it were not for the fact that the perpetrators were too high-level, we would not have been willing to cooperate,” Ye Zhongming said with a smile. ”Of course, we must admit that you have a good grasp of human psychology. You knew that the enmity between us was at its peak, and that our minds would be clouded; perhaps we would not see through your temporary arrangements. But... perhaps you have had too smooth a ride within your own clan, so there is always a hint of contempt for others in your words and actions.”

”It was your greed that showed too clearly,” Kunzuo said, and with that, he raised his hand toward Delma.
