Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2243: Untrustworthy

”Your Highness!”

The commander of the Crown Guard Regiment rushed to Delmaʼs side, supporting the prince with one hand while keeping the other hand alert to their surroundings.

As a senior great expert, he had been the first to break through the blockade and reach Delmaʼs side.

At this moment, he had no other thoughts. He only wanted to take Delma away.

As the commander of the Crown Guard Regiment and the head of Prince Delmaʼs personal guard, he knew the princeʼs plan. Over the years, the princeʼs progress, growth, and successive successes had made him never feel that this decision was wrong.

But reality had dealt him a heavy blow.

Delma had tried to outsmart others but had failed and was now under attack. Whether the Su Clan ultimately gained the upper hand or the Huoʼer Star people emerged victorious, he would not fare well.

The worst outcome was death. As for the best outcome... the commander did not think they could successfully escape. Perhaps sacrificing himself might be an option?

He instinctively looked up at the sky. Now, his hopes rested more on Kirsailting. If he could defeat Kunzuo, then all problems would be solved. Even if Delma faced censure from the clan for this incident, that could be overcome. But if Kirsailting lost, they would truly be finished.

What he could do now was look for an opportunity to leave—though the chances were slim. If not, he could only hold on and wait for the outcome of the duel between the two peak experts.
As for those several thousand members of the Crown Guard Regiment, the commander, like Delma, was not optimistic about their fate.

Look at the situation now—even though the Su Clan and the Huoʼer Star people had started fighting each other again, they had not relaxed their attacks on the Guard Regiment. For both sides, these people had to die.

”We... canʼt escape,” Delma suddenly said, panting heavily. He looked at the battlefield gradually forming around them, considered several plans in his mind, and quickly dismissed them all.

”First, help the Guard Regiment members gather around me. Then, look for opportunities. Help whichever side is at a disadvantage, and try to make them fight as long as possible. At the same time, send people to break out in the chaos and contact our forces, telling them to get here as quickly as possible, no matter the cost.”

Delma poured several bottles of potions into his mouth, feeling his body rapidly recovering. Then, with a grave expression, he said to his subordinate, ”Whether we live or die today depends on you.”

The commander of the Crown Guard Regiment, aside from the two peak experts, was the most powerful presence here. He did indeed have the ability to sway the battle to some extent. Delma placed even greater hopes on him than on whether Kirsailting could win.

The commander hesitated for a moment, then nodded.

He took out four one-meter-long metal bars from his spatial equipment and inserted them around Delmaʼs body. After injecting his energy into them, energy extensions quickly emerged from the bars, encircling Delma in their midst.

”This is the Seal Lock Brocade—it has some defensive capability. Your Highness, do not step out of the circle. With its assistance, unless it is the one in the sky, no one can kill you quickly. If I detect any danger to you, I will come as soon as possible.”

With that, the commander turned and headed back the way he had come, to rendezvous with his men and bring them closer.

On the other side, Jie Su was fighting somewhat cautiously.

He could not reveal his accompanying formation, so he could only rely on his limited close-combat abilities to face dangers. Fortunately, he was also an excellent formation master and carried many formation disks with him, which allowed him to hold his own against a great expert of the Huoʼer Star people.

At this point, among the Su Clan and the minor race alliance, the strongest individual combatant was White Dragon Horse, and the greatest threat to great experts was the elusive White Robe.

”Zhongming, go help my clansmen stabilize their position and give them a chance to set up formations. Leave this to us.”

Although the Huoʼer Star people had been heavily injured by Elder Huo Zhi, they had still recovered for several days. Combined with their equipment and individual combat capabilities, they quickly gained the upper hand in close combat with the Su Clan and the minor race alliance.

The Su Clanʼs formation masters were inherently unsuited for this kind of battle, and their deaths now had the lowest value.

So Jie Su asked Ye Zhongming to help the main forces. On one hand, the Cloud Peak King excelled at group battles; on the other, it was a form of protection for him. He had not yet reached the great expert level, and now that he had been targeted by the Huoʼer Star experts, Jie Su was truly afraid something might happen to him.

Ye Zhongming nodded in agreement. White Dragon Horse quickly came to cover his retreat from this area. A few seconds later, when several mountain peaks and the figure of a giant ape appeared, the tide of battle was actually changed by the addition of a single person.

By now, every side involved could only make decisions based on the evolving situation at any given moment. No one knew who would win.

The thought in everyoneʼs mind at this moment was... fight and see.

Of course, the situation was not static, but changed every moment.

For example, when the commander of the Crown Guard Regiment attacked one of the Huoʼer Star great experts and quickly gained the upper hand; to the point where, if others had not come to help, he would have already achieved a kill, the pressure on Jie Su, White Dragon Horse, and White Robe suddenly lessened considerably. Jie Su was directly protected by Ming Qi, Cheng Liujin, and others, and began to set up formations. Meanwhile, White Robe would appear among the crowd, and every time he appeared, a member of the Huoʼer Star command layer would be killed.

But just as a temporary intermediate formation set up by Jie Su began to take effect, influencing the surroundings, and the Huoʼer Star peopleʼs command system started to fall into chaos due to the constant assassinations of a great expert, the commander of the Crown Guard Regiment abruptly ʼturned his coat.ʼ Seizing an opportunity, he attacked White Robe, whom he had been keeping an eye on, wounding the White Order Leader. After taking medicine, White Robe was unable to re-enter the battlefield for a time, and the Su Clan and the minor race alliance lost a major asset.

Without White Robeʼs harassment, the Huoʼer Star people steadied themselves again. They left a portion of their forces to trap Jie Su, Ming Qi, and Cheng Liujin, preventing them from moving freely, and turned their attention to the others. In particular, a temporary hundred-man squad composed of warriors very close to the great expert level—with Furelai of at least seventy thousand—could not match great experts like White Robe, but they could inflict tremendous damage on the other members of the Su Clan and the minor race alliance.

They set their sights on Ye Zhongming, who was practically fighting a thousand enemies on his own. After deliberately dispersing around him and approaching stealthily, they launched a fierce surprise attack on the Cloudtop King.

At the same time, the Huoʼer Star people also tied down other experts who might have had a chance to support him, creating a brief, focused encirclement against Ye Zhongming.
