Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2266: Collective upgrade

A Raini-grade piece of equipment was, after all, Raini-grade. Its structural composition, part grades, energy systems, transmission systems, and so on were all complicated enough to give one a headache. If Ye Zhongming had not already developed a deep understanding of mechanical war beasts to the point where he could even manufacture Ke Steel-grade ones, then at most he would have simply found a way to consume the peak expertʼs energy. But in the process of continuous modification, Ye Zhongming discovered that his understanding of this manufacturing technique was deepening.

It was a wonderful feeling; sounding somewhat mystical, but in truth, many people entered this state, whether briefly or for longer periods, during their daily work and lives.

Ye Zhongming even temporarily forgot the danger, modifying parts while simultaneously studying Mountain Furyʼs structure and removing the next component.

In the end, Ye Zhongming even began attempting to slowly ”inject” the peak expertʼs energy into Mountain Fury through its transmission system, letting it automatically reinforce Mountain Furyʼs core components.

This was a very risky move, because if the energy was not controlled properly, the entire circuit system of Mountain Fury could be destroyed, and the whole thing would be rendered useless.

But the results turned out quite well. After the external parts were replaced, Mountain Furyʼs internal circuits and circulation systems also withstood the ”test” of this energy.

This was a foundation. After they were improved, Ye Zhongming directly used these circulation systems to refine their intersections and endpoints—the core areas.

At this point, he indeed did not dare to remove Mountain Furyʼs core, but he could let energy flow into it automatically.

And in this process, Ye Zhongming discovered something: through the operation of the energy, he understood these energy circuits and various circulation systems, and through these systems, he began to comprehend the composition and operation of the core.

This was extremely important and valuable to him. Although there were still some things Ye Zhongming could not yet grasp, he believed that with a little more time, he would be able to fully understand them. Then, he would master the manufacturing technique for Raini-grade mechanical war beasts.
Of course, before this, Ye Zhongming had not even been able to manufacture Red Condensation-grade mechanical war beasts. But now, Ye Zhongming was very confident that, as long as he had enough materials, he could already produce this grade of mechanical war beast!

But for the Cloud Peak King, this achievement was not enough. After modifying Mountain Fury, he felt that while he had grasped the technique for Red Condensation-grade mechanical war beasts, he was only a hairʼs breadth away from manufacturing Raini-grade ones. This feeling made him itch with eagerness, and since Kunzuoʼs energy, though no longer as surging as before, was still present, Ye Zhongming decided to dismantle another Raini-grade mechanical war beast he had purchased through the Su Clanʼs channels.

Previously, through Jie Su, and Jie Su through the Su Clanʼs channels, he had made a large-scale purchase of mechanical war beasts, including one Raini-grade unit, thirty Red Condensation-grade units, as well as the one thousand Ke Steel-grade and five thousand common-grade units he had manufactured himself.

More than half of the Ke Steel-grade units had been completely destroyed; after repairs and reorganization, about three hundred were still usable. Ten of the Red Condensation-grade units had been completely destroyed, while most of the others had sustained damage; after repairs, twelve remained.

After repairs, about one thousand common-grade units were still usable.

The second Raini-grade mechanical war beast had been damaged before, and after Ye Zhongming repaired it, it had only improved slightly. During the final battle, it had taken more hits, and now only about ten percent of its functionality remained. For a machine like that, even if he dismantled it and could not repair it, Ye Zhongming would not feel sorry.

So he did it. Ye Zhongming immediately began disassembling this mechanical war beast while also modifying the removed parts.

The higher the grade of the mechanical war beast, the more energy was required when modifying its parts. Earlier, modifying Mountain Fury had consumed almost as much energy as all the previous mechanical war beasts combined. This one, though not as advanced as Mountain Fury and with fewer parts due to its damaged condition, still consumed only slightly less energy than Mountain Fury.

By the time he had fully dismantled and modified it, Kunzuoʼs energy had finally been mostly consumed. What little remained, still lingering in Ye Zhongmingʼs and Qiuqiuʼs bodies, though still uncomfortable, was at least no longer life-threatening; they would need some time to digest it on their own.

After all, Raini-grade was Raini-grade, and mechanical war beasts were even more complex and profound than weapons and equipment of the same grade. So when Ye Zhongming dismantled this Raini-grade mechanical war beast, he still made quite a few mistakes, causing some irreparable damage, to the point that this Raini-grade mechanical war beast was completely ruined and unusable.

There was no helping it; these items purchased through the Su Clan had not been bought from the Taros Red Dwarfs; they had been used by other races for who knows how long, and damage during that time was inevitable. For both Raini-grade and Red Condensation-grade units, retaining fifty percent of their original performance was already considered good; most only had twenty to thirty percent left, otherwise the sellers would not have parted with them.

With such a Raini-grade unit, Ye Zhongming did not feel too pained about wrecking it.

Of course, that was only because he was well-off; for anyone else, it would still be a huge fortune.

Having wrecked one Raini-grade unit, Ye Zhongming gained a great deal and understood many issues. He felt that after returning, he should be able to attempt manufacturing Raini-grade mechanical war beasts, though the success rate was still not guaranteed.

Having resolved this crisis, Qiuqiu slyly withdrew its white thread from Ye Zhongmingʼs spatial ring, and the Cloud Peak King had no time to deal with it for now.

He first put away all the mechanical war beasts. During this process, Ye Zhongming smiled brilliantly.

The mechanical war beasts, whose various parts had been enhanced by the peak expertʼs energy, had all enjoyed a second lease on life.

The common-grade ones needed no explanation; their performance was directly upgraded to Ke Steel-grade. Among the Ke Steel-grade units, those with good foundations were also upgraded to Red Condensation-grade. As for the Red Condensation-grade ones, although they did not cross over to Raini-grade, they had all been restored to their original performance and then pushed to their upper limits.

So now Ye Zhongming had about one thousand two hundred Ke Steel-grade mechanical war beasts, about one hundred twenty Red Condensation-grade units, of which twelve were top-tier, and one Raini-grade unit- Mountain Fury- which had fully recovered its performance and become significantly stronger as well.

Ye Zhongming estimated that Mountain Fury, which previously had combat power roughly equivalent to seventy or eighty thousand Furelai at best, could now probably reach nearly one hundred thousand without issue.

Of course, the combat power of mechanical war beasts was affected by many factors; this rough assessment was merely a measure of progress.

After putting away the mechanical war beasts, Ye Zhongming swatted away the clingy Qiuqiu, picked up the spatial ring, and tried it; sure enough, it opened!

Giving Qiuqiu a look that said ”consider this your making up for it,” Ye Zhongming took out something that did not ”belong” to him from inside.

A bony hand with a spatial ring on it.

Ye Zhongming checked his own space and found that everything inside was safe and sound, which set his mind at ease. Then, he slowly removed the spatial ring from the bony hand; nothing unexpected happened during the process.

The Cloud Peak King held the bony hand in his own, a flicker of emotion passing through his expression.

He could feel an extraordinary power emanating from the bony hand- a power he had encountered before.

It was... the Soul-Shattering Bone Staff.
