Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2236: Two choices

The Cosmic Races Law Council was the name of a high-level parliamentary organization established by the cosmic races of the universe. Many people actually preferred to call this organization the Council of Elders or the Assembly Hall.

Although the cosmic races of the universe were divided into three major factions and resided on seven survivor fortresses resembling planets, to some extent, they were a single alliance—an alliance against the Slave Race.

Since it was an alliance, it necessarily required an institution similar to Earthʼs United Nations to coordinate and manage certain matters.

Such an institution might not have absolute decision-making power that carried great weight. In many instances, it might merely be a symbol. But under some special circumstances, this institution could play a considerable role.

Of course, more often than not, it was a tool used by those super clans to control the medium and small races beneath them. For matters involving super clans, the institutionʼs greatest function was to create new and creative forms of bickering, and it could certainly account for about thirty percent of the trending topics for one or two cosmic years.

To put it bluntly, this institution existed when you needed it, and when you did not, it was just a decoration.

Now, His Highness Delma of the Reina Star people had said that this matter should be reported to the Cosmic Races Law Council, and things instantly became complicated.

Because when that happened, there would be too many manipulable elements. As for how to manipulate them, that would depend on the outcome of the various factions.

The Huoʼer Star people did not want to see Delma, because no matter the outcome, it would certainly not be as good as what they had negotiated with the Su Clan now. And the Su Clan people did not want to see Delma, because once it went through the Cosmic Races Law Council, the price they would have to pay would certainly be much greater than what had been agreed upon now.

But could they refuse now? Certainly not, because since Delma already knew, he would no longer allow them to settle this matter privately. Even if they forcefully ended it immediately, it would be meaningless, because the Reina Star people could bring it up countless times.
Jie Su and Kunzuo exchanged a glance. The two who had just been bargaining with each other both understood the otherʼs meaning... this uninvited guest was utterly detestable.

At the same time, Jie Su was extremely angry at Elder Luozhi Suʼs unilateral decision.

He knew that the elder might have been well-intentioned, wanting to bring in a sufficiently powerful third party to maintain pressure on the Huoʼer Star people while there was still room to salvage the situation.

But such an act essentially constituted a betrayal. A betrayal of Jie Su, a betrayal of Luozhi Suʼs own promise, and even a betrayal of the Su Clan.

The Su Clan was, after all, a super clan, equal in reputation to the Huoʼer Star people. And at a critical moment, an elder of such a super clan actually sought help from another race, essentially making a matter that could determine life or death public. That in itself was a betrayal!

Now that His Highness Delma had arrived, it was meaningless to continue negotiating in this manner. Jie Su and Kunzuo almost simultaneously chose to maintain the status quo.

”Elder Huo Zhi cannot die. The matter... will be discussed later.”

Jie Su left these words. Seeing Kunzuo nod, he led his people back to their own camp.

After watching them leave, Kunzuo cast a cold glance at Delma, then turned and led his people back as well. He needed to attend to the aftermath of todayʼs battle.

Indeed, he was now irreconcilable with the Su Clan, but that did not mean he wanted to be taken advantage of by the Reina Star people. The account with the Su Clan could be settled slowly later, but he absolutely could not let the Reina Star people reap the benefits.

For these two super clans, it was a relationship of one rising while the other fell. If the opponent grew stronger, it meant their own side weakened.

His Highness Delma did not mind that neither side spoke to him. He smiled as he watched them each retreat, then whispered something to the peak expert Kirsailting beside him. After that, the two parted ways. He headed toward the Su Clan side, while Kirsailting went to the Huoʼer Star peopleʼs side.

……………………

The stone dragon and the blue-skinned man had disappeared because their time had run out, leaving the Su Clan and the minor race alliance with no further reliance. For now, the matter could only be left as it was.

What they now needed to consider was what the entire Su Clan and all the minor races of Dark Strip City would face after the Planet Hunting Ground ended.

It would surely be an extremely difficult political negotiation.

Because of the forced march along the way, everyone was very exhausted, and after choosing an open space, they began to set up camp.

They could no longer return to the Overlapping Water Dead Zone now. With only a few days left until the Planet Hunting Ground ended, they could only stay here.

Everyone worked quickly, and the camp took shape at a visible pace.

”I... at the time, I only thought that with an unfavorable situation, having a powerful third party intervene would be better.”

Luozhi Su found Jie Su and explained in a low voice.

If it had been before, he would not have done this. Even if Jie Su was the confidant and key protégé of Clan Leader Yaohan Su, a famous genius in the clan, there was still a huge gap in status between them.

But now it was different. This person had become a great expert. Upon returning, he would become an important figure in the Su Clan overwhelmingly. Many who had previously not favored Jie Su or did not support Yaohan Su would change their stance because of this. It could be said that the power of the entire Su Clan would be greatly concentrated in the hands of the clan leaderʼs faction.

Jie Su might truly be able to break the rules and become the next clan leader.

Faced with such a figure, Luozhi Su had no choice but to come and explain, hoping to obtain forgiveness.

”The Su Clan is not strong,” Jie Su said suddenly, looking ahead. ”But it cannot lack backbone.”

Luozhi Su was momentarily stunned, then bent his waist slightly.

He now deeply regretted it, but since he had already done it, he could only find a way to make amends.

”I did not know you would become a great expert. I made that decision based on an analysis of the previous situation. Moreover, you were not present at the time. You can say the outcome was not good, but I do not think there was anything wrong with that decision. After all... it was you and your friends who were too astonishing.”

Jie Su fell silent. From that perspective, things were indeed so, but...

”After we return, resign from your position as elder. Focus on teaching the next generation within the clan.”

Luozhi Su smiled bitterly. There was reluctance and anger in his heart, but he quickly faced the facts. He knew that, for now, the Su Clanʼs future was unclear, but this young man before him would certainly become a true power holder. If he said it this way, the matter was basically settled. His opposition would be ineffective. If he pushed too hard, the fate of Chongken Su would be his.

”His Highness Delma wishes to see you.” As soon as Luozhi Su left, a Su Clan warrior came to report.

Jie Su thought for a moment, then said, ”Go call the people from the minor races over. Have White Robe and Ye Zhongming come as well.”

Ten minutes later, Ye Zhongming, White Robe, the five representative clan leaders of the minor race alliance, Jie Su, and Ming Qi together received the fifth successor of the Reina Star people.

After some polite exchanges, Delma got straight to the point: ”The Reina Star people can help you with this matter. We have two ways to cooperate. I will lay them out, and you can consider them.”

”First, we will side with you in the Law Council, striving to get you to pay less Moonspan Gold in compensation, and also striving to keep Elder Huo Zhi alive.”

”Second, right here, we join forces and slaughter all the Huoʼer Star people.”
