Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2244: Outside the planet

Survivor Fortress Planet Five.

The cosmic races of the universe were accustomed to calling this place Mi Star, because the entire survivor fortress used as its totem an extinct creature called the Ling Mi.

People worshiped this being that had once been powerful in the universe; it was also one of the few lifeforms, like the Slave Race, that could roam through the stars.

But they had become extinct early on in their struggle with the Slave Race.

However, this did not hinder peopleʼs worship of it. Especially on Planet Five, regardless of whether one truly believed in it in their heart, at least on the surface, everyone held absolute faith in the Ling Mi.

Of course, another major reason for this situation was that on Planet Five, the largest city was called Ling Mi City, and this city belonged to a super clan—the Sheke Star people.

Bei Yin stood quietly halfway up an artificial mountain, gazing at the vast yet well-ordered city below. Many emotions flickered in his eyes, yet his entire being seemed to have merged completely with the surrounding environment.

The city below was Ling Mi City, and he was its master.

No one knew how long he had stood there. Suddenly, he waved his hand toward the artificial mountain behind him. A surging force immediately enveloped the peak, and within this energy, a phantom of a Ling Mi slowly emerged, its entire body shimmering with flowing light, its enormous form seeming as though it would cover the entire city.

But this astonishing phenomenon went unnoticed by anyone, because that energy had shielded the phantom, allowing it only to fly and wander around the mountain peak, releasing its energy.
This situation lasted for more than half an hour before gradually subsiding.

Bei Yin slowly withdrew that power, and the area around the mountain peak returned to normal.

A moment later, a metal door not far behind him opened, and an elegant figure slowly walked out.

”Father.”

Bei Yin turned and saw his daughter Yiseweiʼs face, one capable of captivating all beings.

”Not bad.”

As a peak expert and the clan leader of a super clan, Bei Yin had many legends surrounding him and was addressed by many honorifics and names. But among his family, his given name was always Bei Yin, a name that had accompanied him since birth.

”It should be much shorter than you expected, right?” Yisewei smiled slightly, casually tracing a gesture with both hands, forming two beautiful phantom Ling Mi, much smaller than before.

Bei Yin took one look and, even for him, showed a look of surprise.

”Shortened by two cosmic years,” Bei Yin said, answering his daughter, then added, ”It seems the fusion went well.”

Yi Se Wei nodded. ”Although not completely perfect, it far exceeded my expectations.”

After speaking, the father and daughter fell into a brief silence.

Bei Yin broke it with a smile. ”I thought you would ask me directly whether I still want Zimu to come and marry you now.”

Yisewei nodded. ”I really did want to ask. But considering that you are, after all, the clan leader of the Sheke Star people, a prominent figure among the cosmic races of the universe, I decided to give you some face.”

”Of course, if you go back on your word, I will despise you.”

Faced with his daughterʼs words, Bei Yin smiled wryly but said nothing.

Yisewei walked to her fatherʼs side and looked down at the city below, which was beginning to light up with the glow of evening. She said softly, ”I know the pressure you bear, and I know the awkward position of the Sheke Star people among the cosmic races of the universe, as well as the aggression of the Huoʼer Star people.”

”Before, no one in the clan could help you, or rather, their strength was not enough to share that burden. Even with you holding nothing back and giving your all, still no one could break through to the peak expert realm, and there were barely even any who came close.”

”So you were very disappointed and had no choice but to consider other methods to secure the raceʼs position in the entire universe.”

Yisewei turned her head to look at her father.

”But now, I can help you. Although I have just broken through to the great expert realm, and there are a full three to four hundred people in the clan stronger than me, I... have successfully fused the bloodline of the Ling Mi, becoming the only one who might bring the Ling Mi back into the world. Given some time, I will surely reach your position and uphold our race.”

”So, Father, please trust me this once. I will prove it to you.”

Bei Yin smiled with some relief. The speed of his daughterʼs growth surprised him. At the very least, from the current perspective, her talent surpassed his own. At Yiseweiʼs age, Bei Yin had still been far from the peak expert realm.

But this did not mean that good talent guaranteed one would become a peak expert. Bei Yin himself had advanced rapidly from great expert to peak expert, surpassing many, many others.

He had not been certain before whether his daughter could do it.

But now Bei Yin truly believed it, because his daughter had fused the Ling Mi bloodline that had been passed down through the Sheke Star people since ancient times. This meant she possessed the potential to hatch the Ling Mi sacred egg that had been enshrined in the clan for unknown ages.

If successful, then Yi Se Wei would certainly grow into a peak expert without any bottlenecks. She might even have the hope of touching that ethereal realm beyond the peak expert level.

”I do not doubt your ability, but...”

Bei Yin hesitated for a moment, then decided to speak plainly.

”However, the person you have chosen, although talented, is far from being extraordinarily brilliant. The gap between him and you will only grow wider over time. When that happens, the pressure will fall squarely on your shoulders alone. When your man cannot bear the pressure for you and cannot shield you from the wind and rain, as time passes, can you still guarantee that your feelings for him will not change? Even if you do not change, can you guarantee that his mindset will remain the same?”

Yisewei fell silent, for she could not answer that question now. She could say that time would prove everything, but that was too intangible and held no persuasiveness before a peak expert.
