Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2176: Inaccurate teleportation

The three tumbled out of the teleportation formation, all feeling very unwell.

That feeling of the body being torn apart during the teleportation process would not have been a big problem if they were in their prime, but with one unconscious and two injured, their injuries all worsened after the teleportation. Even the unconscious White Robe woke up.

The pain awakened him.

”Are you alright?”

Jie Su and Ye Zhongming helped White Robe up and asked.

The Silver Order Leader grunted in response.

”The location is wrong?”

Seeing the pitch-black surroundings, Jie Su asked in a low voice.

The two realized that after teleporting out, the surrounding area was dark, the air was turbid, and carried a faint stench of decay.

But at their level, they did not need to rely completely on their eyesight. Their perception spread out to the surroundings, and they knew there was no immediate danger.
”Yes, just donʼt know how far off we are,” Ye Zhongming answered in a low voice as well.

”Then... the effect of that finger?”

Once the teleportation formationʼs coordinates were set, errors should not occur. Their coordinates were set to their departure point: Ye Zhongmingʼs tent. Now that they had not appeared at the location, something must have affected the accuracy. The most likely possibility was the finger strike from the Huoʼer Star peak expert at the last moment.

They did not understand to what extent the peak expertʼs seemingly casual attack had reached, but the energy contained within it should have affected the teleportation formation, causing them to arrive at an unknown place.

With this speculation, the three were in low spirits because they did not know where the teleportation had brought them. Was it still near Black Book Absolute Peak? Near the Overlapping Water Dead Zone? Or perhaps no longer on that planet at all, but in some spatial rift?

If it were the latter two outcomes, returning would be very difficult for them.

”It shouldnʼt be a spatial rift. There is a smell here.”

Although White Robe was severely injured, the pill he had prepared was very effective. He had already recovered a bit. Although he could not fight yet, speaking and communicating were no problem.

The other two nodded. There was a very faint stench of decay here, indicating that life had once existed here. Since that was the case, it would not be some spatial rift. As long as it was not a place completely isolated with no way out, even if they were on some planet, there was always hope of returning, even if that hope was small.

”Letʼs explore a bit first and find a nearby place to recover from our injuries,” Ye Zhongming said, then took out a light ball. It was a sphere that could emit light, somewhat similar to a glow stick on Earth, but with higher brightness, a wider illumination range, and a longer duration.

Under the light, the three saw that the surroundings were all rough, gray-black rock. They were all somewhat surprised.

It was half joyful and half worried.

The joy was that, because they had light from the surrounding environment, they were even more certain that life had once lived here, or had been active here recently. Since that was the case, even if they were temporarily trapped, they could survive.

After all, if they did not demand quality, and other lives could live here, experts like them could also live here.

The worry was that the traces suggested the lives here were not from the cosmic races, but from other types of life. And this place was entirely natural caves, extending in all directions. For the moment, they did not know which way to go. Once they left this place, returning would not be easy.

”How many light balls do each of you have?” Ye Zhongming asked the other two.

”Two.”

”I have three.”

Once activated, a light ball could provide continuous illumination for dozens of hours. It was normal for each person to carry only one or two.

”Place the light balls along our exploration route. Letʼs survey the surrounding area first.”

Ye Zhongming also had three. Eight light balls could provide them with overall illumination of a small area. Using the light balls, they surveyed the surroundings. Things were worse than they thought. This place was like a maze, with passages above and below, and each passage connected to eight others. They did not dare to turn corners at will while exploring, afraid of getting dizzy and lost inside.

”Letʼs heal our injuries first. When we are mostly recovered, we will look for a way out. Forget about everything else,” White Robe said.

The other two had no other solutions, so they had to do that for now.

Fortunately, although the three did not carry many items in their space equipment, they had plenty of medicines for injuries. Each took their medicine and began to heal.

In the dark, the passage of time could no longer be judged by feeling. No one knew how long had passed. The three woke almost simultaneously, then all stood and pressed themselves against a stone wall.

About half a minute later, a sound gradually came from afar, and even the ground shook twice. After a while, a life of unknown origin ran toward them, carrying a strong, bloody smell. Behind it followed more of another type of life. The two sides were in the midst of a chase, no, a hunt.

The leading life quickly passed through a cave in front of the three without stopping, and the pursuing pursuers followed closely.

The three listened. When the sound faded into the distance, White Robe opened his mouth to say something, but Jie Su pulled him back.

The three remained absolutely still, even stopping their breathing.

About ten seconds later, in the darkness, a head the size of a basin slowly extended from a side passage. Its eyes, perhaps due to staying in dark places, had already weakened, leaving only two white structures. But on this irregularly shaped head, there were fleshy holes filled with soft tentacles over ten centimeters long, presumably its hearing and olfactory sensing organs.

After this large head extended into the cave, followed by a long neck, it first sniffed to the left, then to the right, then kept swinging left and right, searching for something.

No one knew how long this creatureʼs neck actually was. It had extended at least twenty meters into this passage without its body entering.

The head kept moving, stopping at the place where the three had sat healing earlier. The tentacles inside the fleshy holes frenziedly waved, even making sounds resembling suction, having discovered something, but uncertain.

The three did not move. They were somewhat fortunate that they had changed their clothes and could seal themselves to prevent any smell from escaping. As long as they did not move, this creature, which could only rely on smell and hearing, should not discover them.

Indeed, after searching the area for a while without finding anything, the neck gradually shortened, and the head slowly withdrew. Then, some pattering sounds were heard, gradually fading away.

They waited a full minute until the sound was no longer audible before the three began to breathe again.

”Letʼs go. We have been discovered.”

Ye Zhongming suddenly said.
