Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2149: Surrounding super level nine (3)

To kill such a super lifeform, relying solely on brute force was not impossible, but achieving it would certainly come at a heavy cost.

This method of fighting was much more acceptable to everyone.

At least for now, it was proving highly effective.

Moreover, Ye Zhongmingʼs actions—from obtaining the Little Black Shields from killing the Leviathan Scorpions, to crafting so many arrows from the Bristle Four-Hoofed Beasts, to collecting the venom—all gave the impression of a targeted, purposeful approach.

The direct consequence of this feeling was a sense of security.

This was also one reason why everyone had willingly taken the poison.

At this moment, the colossal Wanpeng Sand Bat was showing signs of slowed movement and weakened attacks—clearly, the poison was taking effect.

Poison was Ye Zhongmingʼs true weapon against this creature. The abilities the warriors had unleashed earlier, the arrows fired afterward, and the poison poured onto the monsterʼs path to be absorbed by its suckers—all were prepared for it, woven throughout the entire attack.

The battle had now been going on for twenty minutes. Even for a super-Level Nine lifeform, the poison was beginning to take its toll.

The venom came primarily from the Leviathan Scorpions—a highly lethal toxin.
Perhaps sensing its physical discomfort, the Wanpeng Sand Bat voluntarily slowed its advance and gradually came to a halt. Its battered head glanced at the First Battalion, and then its massive body sank down onto the sand, beginning to submerge.

”Itʼs going underground!”

Someone shouted.

The prey was almost within reach, and now it wanted to flee?

A few warriors moved forward, firing arrows at the gap between the still-visible back armor and the abdomen, hoping to slow the process.

Emi shouted at them to come back.

But it was too late. The Sand Batʼs head spat out a stream of liquid, enveloping several of them. The tremendous force sent them tumbling backward. When they finally stopped, their chests and faces were covered in blood.

The sheer impact of that liquid was no joke.

”He, go save them.”

Ye Zhongming called out, then quickly split the others into two groups, circling around the sides of the head. Again, defense warriors took the front, with others behind.

Perhaps sensing that danger was imminent, the Sand Bat stopped hoarding its liquid and sprayed it at the warriors on both sides.

But the warriors had already raised their shields. The liquid was effective against living beings, not against equipment.

Whenever a shield was splattered, the warrior immediately retreated, and someone behind collected the liquid from the shield.

When that head finally ran out of liquid and its tentacles, weakened by poison, no longer posed a serious threat, the First Battalion warriors surged forward and smashed it to pieces.

After this breakthrough, the warriors did not stop. They climbed onto the Sand Batʼs back and began attacking its tentacles.

With the Little Black Shields able to withstand the attacks, the threat from the tentacles was largely neutralized. Coupled with the poison, the Wanpeng Sand Bat was now like a lamb to the slaughter. The warriors moved from one end of its body to the other, and within ten minutes, they had cut off every tentacle on its back.

Under normal circumstances, the Sand Bat would have been able to burrow underground by this time. But from the moment the first tentacle was severed, Ye Zhongming had ordered the remaining venom injected directly into the wounds. By the end, the Sand Bat was powerless to resist, lying there like a helpless victim.

This great monster was indeed terrifying. But once its weakness was found and thorough preparations were made, victory became a matter of course.

When everyone had cut off all its heads and finally killed the Wanpeng Sand Bat, cheers erupted uncontrollably.

This creature was the equivalent of a top-tier expert. Setting aside everything else, the fact that its tentacles could shatter Red Condensation-grade defensive equipment meant that ordinary warriors could not withstand its attacks. Only a top-tier expert, it seemed, could fight it one-on-one.

Everyone was thrilled to have slain such an existence.

”Alright, letʼs start processing it. This will take a while. And donʼt eat its meat—itʼll give you diarrhea!”

Ye Zhongming waved his hand to remind everyone, drawing a round of laughter. Then they quickly got to work.

Though not every part of the Wanpeng Sand Bat was valuable, some things were quite good. Aside from the venom and the eggs inside its body that Ye Zhongming needed, the tips of its tentacles and the skin on its back were excellent materials.

Because the creature was so huge, processing it took considerable time. By the time the group left, an hour and a half had passed since the battle ended.

They did not completely waste the monsterʼs meat. Each person took a large amount, nearly filling their spatial equipment. They planned to use it as bait on future hunts.

The journey back was uneventful. The warriors who had been hit by the venom were treated and were not in any life-threatening danger. The venomʼs primary effect was to render lifeforms powerless. Even without treatment, they would recover after a week in bed; with treatment, they would be back on their feet after two days.

Upon returning to camp, the First Regiment lost the merit tally this time because the First Battalion had dragged down their performance. Over the three days, they had spent most of their time preparing to hunt the Wanpeng Sand Bat, and Ye Zhongming had used the materials they obtained, so their gains were modest.

In response, Ye Zhongming proactively offered compensation. He handed out pieces of Standard-grade and even Ke Steel-grade equipment. Those with prestige and strength in the First Regiment received the arrows he had processed, and even Little Black Shields.

For the three thousand men of the First Battalion who had followed him, Ye Zhongming was even more generous. They had risked their lives for him, and he would not treat them poorly. Each received three pieces of equipment and one thousand Moonspan Gold. In one stroke, he gave away three million Moonspan Gold, plus over thirty thousand pieces of various equipment—a staggering sum.
