Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2154.5- Blood Battlefield (9)

But the more they killed, the more came. The two sides were engaged in a war of attrition.

On one side, paying with lives; on the other, paying with energy and defensive space.

When a super-level-nine mutated lifeform, a Hyena Demon Eagle, had its body torn apart and fell directly toward the Kepaisi Sky Cover, the lifeforms flying from behind it could reach the Sky Cover’s main body within two seconds.

With a crash, the massive corpse slammed onto the top of the Kepaisi Sky Cover, temporarily disabling the energy cannons beneath the corpse.

Countless flying lifeforms swarmed in and landed on the Kepaisi Sky Cover.

A clattering sound, like raindrops hitting the ground, came from it.

They began to do their utmost to destroy this big iron machine.

These attacks took place on top of the Sky Cover, where the universeʼs myriad races could not provide assistance.

The people inside the control room could see through the monitors. They operated the melee controls, moving as many energy cannons as possible to firing angles, maintaining fire suppression.

“Should we deploy the Rotating Umbrella Scythes?”
One person shouted to another nearby. They had received authorization from Ye Zhongming: in critical situations when Ye Zhongming could not get away, they could collectively decide on all matters concerning the Kepaisi Sky Cover.

“Agreed!”

“Agreed!”

Soon, they passed the decision. One person pressed a button, and a clicking sound immediately came from the entire Sky Cover.

At that moment, metal covers on certain parts of the Sky Cover suddenly opened, and inside, huge umbrella-like objects popped out. After emerging, they snapped open abruptly, revealing only the ribs, no canopy.

Once these umbrella ribs appeared, they began to rotate. Both sides of each rib were extremely sharp. As they spun, any lifeforms within their range were sliced into pieces!

They were terrifyingly sharp.

Hundreds of these large umbrellas covered the entire Sky Cover, acting like meat grinders, sending those mutated lifeforms that had just thought victory was within reach and that they could tear this big cover apart, out of this world.

“Energy consumption was severe, and the toughness decreased rapidly,” said a person controlling the Sky Cover with a grave expression.

“How much longer could it last?”

“If the intensity continues as it is, at most five minutes.”

“Contact the Order Leader and request to send warriors up to fight.”

“Aren’t there other measures left?”

“There are, but should we use them now? After using them, what will we do later?”

After a few seconds of silence, someone immediately contacted Ye Zhongming and reported the current situation in the fewest words.

“If the Rotating Umbrella Scythes can’t resolve the crisis in a while, then use it,” Ye Zhongming said after listening, making a quick decision.

He had already retreated to the edge of the zone; whenever he wanted, he could leave the small path.

He glanced at the sky and judged that these creatures were unlikely to give up their attack anytime soon, so preserving the Kepaisi Sky Cover as much as possible was the top priority.

“Inject energy in advance. Once it is clear that it can’t be defended, then detonate it.”

Ye Zhongming gave an order to the people in the control room.

Once the Kepaisi Sky Cover was breached and lost its ability to defend itself, they would have to blow it up; otherwise, such a large object crashing down would crush everyone below.

“Release!”

When all the warriors on the small path had retreated onto the zone, Elder Yan’s roar rang out. The long-range weapon units, which had long been ready, began to unleash their power. From their elevated position, they poured all sorts of weaponry down onto the mutated lifeforms below.

Arrows, crossbow bolts, spears, short axes—these were the most basic—along with various technological products of different shapes, many of which Ye Zhongming had never seen.

They spread over the small path, reaping the lives of these opponents.

Meanwhile, the mutated lifeforms continued to charge and attack ceaselessly. The long-range lifeforms and the precipice exchanged fire, but one side had the natural advantage of height, so they had the upper hand.

All the defensive lines on the lower path were lost, but the situation did not spiral out of control. The Small Race Alliance still held the initiative. Some even proposed organizing a counter-charge to drive these mutated lifeforms off the lower path.

But this proposal was too bold and risky, so it was rejected by everyone.

Ye Zhongming returned to the zone but did not rest. Instead, he went to find White Robe. This place was within the base of the Star-Eye Clan, to be precise, the base of the Bronze Battle Squad.

The Silver Order Leader had been waiting here early on. When Ye Zhongming arrived, Jie Su, who should have been fighting a defensive battle on the Su Clan’s side, was also present.

Only the three of them were inside the tent. If outsiders saw this, they would surely be very shocked.

Although none of the three were top-tier in strength, each held a very important position.

They were all rising stars of their respective races, the young elites among the universeʼs myriad races.

“Zhongming, did it really have to be done now? The situation here didn’t look very good.”

White Robe spoke. Naturally, he knew what they were about to do; it was also the original plan. But now the defense situation at the base was not optimistic. If they left now, an accident was very likely.

White Robe felt that it didn’t matter much if he and Jie Su left, but if Ye Zhongming was absent, it would have a considerable impact on the defense of the entire base, especially since the Kepaisi Sky Cover was under his control.
