Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2169: Fighting for love (16)

Although angry, the guardʼs choice was undoubtedly correct.

The formations in the sky and on the ground that had not yet disappeared proved that Jie Su, who had fallen to the ground, was not dead.

The attacking power of this Su Clan genius made the two of them very cautious. If they could take this opportunity to kill him, it would undoubtedly avoid many problems.

But just as this guard stepped within the range of the formation, several ice birds rose from the ground formation, pouncing on the guard from almost all directions: front, back, left, and right.

This excellent warrior of the Huoʼer Star people did not back down. His weapons, fists, feet, and even every part of his body launched fierce attacks, hitting these ice birds.

It must be said that the warriors of the Huoʼer Star people were indeed very strong. These ice birds, which relied on the formation and Jie Su, had extremely high defense, yet this guard still used his strength to shatter them one after another. However, just as he planned to continue forward, two things happened that made him stop in his tracks.

The first was a shout from his companion. The second was that after the ice birds shattered, they did not disappear but instead turned into ice fragments floating around his body.

After floating for a moment, those ice fragments suddenly wrapped around his body.

The guard could deal with the ice birds, but he was helpless against these almost omnipresent ice fragments. Whether he used fists and feet or skills, he could only create small blank areas. Many still landed on his body, turning him into an ice sculpture in an instant.

Then came the attack from the four flame birds that had appeared above his head. Countless fireballs fell like torrential rain, causing two completely opposite elements to react violently on the guardʼs body.
A moment later, there was the sound of something shattering.

When Zimuʼs confidant saw this companion again, all of his protective equipment had shattered. The simple clothes he wore were soaked with blood. On exposed skin, such as his face and hands, clear cracks were visible. He looked like the ground after years without rain, cracked all over.

Most terrifying were his eyes. Several wounds were spread across them, making the guard standing there look on in despair.

Jie Su appeared beside this figure at some point. His weapon was put to the guardʼs neck. With a slight twist, the guardʼs head left his body.

”Impossible, impossible,” Zimuʼs confidant murmured.

Jie Su, hit by his four crossbow bolts, not only did not die but also killed the second guard in this manner. The confidant could not understand it and was unwilling to believe it.

Then, his gaze fell on Jie Suʼs body. On that seemingly unremarkable piece of armor, there were four clear marks, presumably left by the four crossbow bolts.

The attack he had thought sufficient to kill the opponent had not even breached his protective gear, at most leaving some dents.

”Raini Grade?!”

Jie Su answered the confidantʼs question with a smile.

”Perhaps you could let me go,” Zimuʼs confidant suddenly said after taking a deep breath. ”I can break free from the Huoʼer Star people. You can arrange for me to go anywhere, under any supervision. I can even work for you, as long as you let me live.”

Jie Su was startled for a moment, then looked at this confidant and said, ”Are all Huoʼer Star people so understanding of the times nowadays?”

”It is just an instinct to crave survival,” Zimuʼs confidant said with a bitter smile. ”This is not something glorious.”

Jie Su nodded, looking at this person with a hint of appreciation in his eyes.

Being able to speak of fearing death and loving life in such an inoffensive way was also a skill.

But Jie Su still shook his head. ”You have seen two things that make it impossible for me to let you leave alive. One is the ability I used, and the other is the matter of assassinating Zimu. So, I am sorry, but I still have to kill you.”

The confidant nodded, his expression calm, and asked, ”Then, before you kill me, can you tell me what the ability you used is called? Is it unique to you, or has the Su Clan been deliberately hiding it all along?”

Jie Su looked at Zimuʼs confidant and answered, ”It is called the Following Formation, the reliance for the Su Clanʼs revival.”

”Also, you recorded all of this. That would only have meaning if you got out alive, but that is impossible.”

Zimuʼs confidant smiled and said, ”Since you refuse to spare me, I will have to give it a try.”

He quickly threw a pill into his mouth and chewed it. After swallowing, his face flushed slightly, and his body made some faint cracking sounds. The look in his eyes as he regarded Jie Su was no longer as calm as before, but became violent and cruel.

”Black Body Pill?” Jie Su was somewhat surprised. ”It seems you are truly desperate to fight for your life. But even if you win, what meaning would it have?”

Black Body Pills were not considered rare among the ten thousand races of the universe. Taking one could burn the bodyʼs potential to raise strength in a short time.

But this thing had strict requirements. First, the body could not have serious injuries when taking it; otherwise, it would be ineffective. After taking it, an increase in strength was not guaranteed unless one truly had undeveloped potential.

But who could know that?

That is to say, after taking it, the effect could not be guaranteed, nor even whether it would have any effect at all. But the side effects were certain: the body would collapse, various organs would weaken, and there would be no cure.

This was a high-risk, low-reward type of berserker potion.

Unless there were no other choice, someone would take such a thing to gamble. In recent years, Black Body Pills had become increasingly rare. Perhaps in a few more years, this kind of thing would be eliminated and disappear completely.

”Always... have to... give it... a try...”

His voice was somewhat hoarse, and his speech became halting. Obviously, the potion had already begun to take effect.

Jie Su said no more, but the formations beneath his feet and in the sky both underwent changes. From the formation beneath his feet, over a hundred slightly smaller ice birds appeared. From above, the same number of flame birds slowly emerged. Following Jie Suʼs command, they left the range of the Following Formation and attacked Zimuʼs confidant from both the sky and the ground.

The last remaining Huoʼer Star person let out a roar and charged wildly toward Jie Su.

Explosions of energy continuously occurred in the narrow space. The ice and flame giant birds surged toward the confidant wave after wave like ocean waves, while the confidant stubbornly stood there like a rock, advancing step by step with difficulty.

Yes, the continuous knocks of the ice birds and flame giant birds could no longer allow the confidant to maintain fast movement; he could only slowly move closer to his target.

The Following Formation dimmed slightly, indicating its energy had been consumed considerably. Jie Suʼs body also trembled slightly. His process of victory was not as easy as it looked.

When only a few dozen ice birds and flame birds remained, Zimuʼs confidant reached a point only four or five meters from Jie Su. He looked at his opponent with unwillingness, then collapsed to the ground, losing the aura of life.

Jie Su exhaled softly, and the Following Formation disappeared. This Su Clan genius knew that no matter what, on this path that everyone had all chosen, his own first step had been successfully taken.
