Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2148: Surrounding super level nine

Emi endured the burning pain in his chest, waiting for Ye Zhongming to give the order. When he heard it, he felt a sense of relief.

He quickly released his attack, and the pain in his chest lessened, just as Ye Zhongming had said it would.

To deal with this Wanpeng Sand Bat, Ye Zhongming had He refine a type of medicine.

To be precise, it was a poison.

After taking this medicine, for a certain period, the abilities released by the user would carry the same toxicity as the medicine.

To put it simply, the human body served as both an amplifier and an emitter. The poison, circulated and activated within the body, became more potent, imbuing the userʼs abilities with toxicity.

Once released, the toxicity diminished accordingly. After a few uses, most of it would be gone.

Of course, some residue would remain. Ye Zhongming had prepared antidotes and distributed them to every warrior who had taken the poison. When the chest pain became very mild, they could take the antidote.

This medicine was a test of trust between Ye Zhongming and many of the First Battalion warriors. After all, it was a poison—one none of them had ever heard of. Swallowing it required considerable courage.

Fortunately, Ye Zhongming had been building his reputation over the past few days. They hesitated only briefly before taking the poison.
Everyone knew that if this worked, the relationship between these three thousand men and Ye Zhongming would change forever. They would become comrades bound by life and death, and Ye Zhongmingʼs place in their hearts would become truly significant.

The poison-laden abilities landed near the Sand Batʼs head. There was no need to aim carefully, nor any worry about missing.

The Sand Bat was caught off guard by the assault. Over a thousand abilities struck it simultaneously, most carrying poison, leaving its head area covered in wounds.

True, it had thick, tough skin. But even that could not withstand such a barrage. It was a super lifeform, but these warriors were no pushovers either. Moreover, it had not anticipated that these cosmic race lifeforms could withstand its first wave of attacks. Caught off guard, that head was severely wounded.

Furthermore, the First Battalionʼs ranged attacks were not limited to one wave. Those who had taken the poison threw every ability they could muster in a single burst to reduce the toxicity as quickly as possible. Against any other lifeform, that head would likely have been blown apart.

After the first wave of attacks, Ye Zhongming immediately ordered everyone to retreat. Having been briefed on what to do at each stage, the warriors withdrew from the dune without any hesitation.

As they retreated, they poured large amounts of an unknown liquid onto the sand, just as they had done before the battle began.

Seeing the enemies retreat so decisively, the enraged Wanpeng Sand Bat would not let them go. Its massive body crawled directly onto the sand dune and gave chase.

Because its body was so huge, the front part left the dune while the rear was still on the other side. This caused the front part to become somewhat suspended.

This situation would only change once most of its body had crossed the dune.

There was no help for it—the Sand Batʼs back was rigid.

As its body became suspended, exposing the dense suckers underneath, the retreating First Battalion turned as one. Each warrior held a bow and unleashed a rain of arrows at the soft, fleshy suckers.

These were true warriors. They retreated while shooting. In a very short time—perhaps just over ten seconds—they managed to fire a dozen arrows each, sacrificing only a slight amount of speed.

There was no need to aim. As long as the arrows landed within range, they would hit.

These arrows were made from the bristles of the Bristle Four-Hoofed Beasts, processed to be extremely sharp. They achieved at least Ke Steel-grade attack power. Ye Zhongming had even incorporated some precious materials he carried with him.

Against this super lifeform, arrows fired were essentially lost forever. Ye Zhongming had prepared tens of thousands of them. Just these arrows alone represented a fortune. Only a craftsman as wealthy as he could afford such an expense.

After the volley, the team retreated without hesitation, quickly putting distance between themselves and the monster, reaching another sand dune.

But the attack on the Sand Bat did not stop. This time, warriors on the surrounding dunes and in the rear fired arrows wildly at the monsterʼs raised rear.

As it moved forward, the front lifted due to the dune; when the front descended, the rear lifted.

Though fewer in number, these warriors faced less pressure and could attack without restraint.

They timed their attacks well. They waited until the Sand Batʼs body lifted, ensuring they were out of range of its back tentacles before striking. As the target moved, if they saw the tentacles approaching, they immediately withdrew and waited for the next opportunity.

Even when the Sand Bat lowered its body, they would attack its heads. They did not need to worry about accuracy or conserving arrows. Whenever they saw an opportunity—a head exposed, a belly showing—they loosed an arrow. If it hit, good; if not, no harm done.

As for the outcome, they truly did not care.

And so, the forward team retreated, attacked, and defended, leading the Sand Bat on a chase through the desert.

By now, everyone understood why Ye Zhongming had chosen to take on this great monster. The timing, the terrain, and the people—everything was on the First Battalionʼs side.

Timing and people aside, the choice of target, the preparations, and the First Battalionʼs unity were all advantages. As for terrain, it seemed like a gift from heaven. Adjacent to the monsterʼs habitat was a stretch of rolling dunes—exactly the direction the First Battalion was retreating. The massive Sand Bat, moving through this terrain, inevitably had its front lifting or its rear lifting—whichever part was not raised on one side would be on the other.

And its attacks were consistently blocked. The Little Black Shieldʼs defensive power was no joke. Aside from the first attack, the Sand Bat rarely managed to shatter a shield. Even when it did, it only injured the shield-bearing warrior, never killing them.

Conversely, its attacks were steadily weakening. This was not obvious at first, but later, the defense warriors in direct contact with the monster felt it most keenly.

Receiving this feedback, Ye Zhongming knew his plan was working. By this point, he was certain that victory in this battle was inevitable.

Because… the Wanpeng Sand Bat had been poisoned.
