Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Next comes the more complicated dissection, and in Li Younan’s eyes, their slaughtering and dissection skills are quite average.

The Tibetan Area doesn’t bleed their slaughtered yaks, but perhaps it’s due to the species of yak, or maybe because these free-range yaks grow up eating herbs... like Rhodiola, Fritillaria, Gastrodia, and such tonic plants. In any case, although there’s no bleeding, the flavor isn’t difficult to accept; instead, it has a unique taste, with a rich beef flavor.

After leaving one man to handle the yak meat, the others went again to slaughter another cow.

This cow was bigger, and the death of its companion clearly affected its mood, making it more agitated.

The men around showed no fear, laughing as they went hands-on.

Liu Li looked at the already slaughtered yak and the man handling the yak... how should she put it? Not a pretty sight.

She recalled when Li Younan slaughtered wild cattle and grizzly bears before; his cutting and dissection could be described as elegant, quick actions without blood splattering everywhere.

In contrast now... why did their slaughtering actions look so clumsy?

With one person less, controlling this yak was quite strenuous.

Li Younan gently rolled up his sleeves and said to Jiatuo, ”Jiatuo, want me to help?”

Jiatuo didn’t even turn his head, ”Forget it, you can’t do it.”

Liu Li couldn’t help but say, ”It takes so many of you to kill a cow, but he can kill one alone!”

As soon as she said this, all the men present simultaneously looked over.

Liu Li felt a bit unsettled by their stares and hid behind Li Younan.

A few men laughed out loud, obviously thinking Liu Li was exaggerating.

Jiatuo said, ”Buddy, your girlfriend is quite humorous.”

Liu Li’s face slightly reddened, frowning, ”I’m telling the truth.”

Jiatuo laughed and said to Li Younan, ”Your girlfriend said you can kill a cow alone, come on, give it a try.”

He handed over the knife handle, waiting for Li Younan to refuse. It was clear this was just a playful joke, but the next moment, Li Younan calmly took the knife.

Jiatuo’s expression slightly stiffened, ”No, I’m kidding, don’t take it seriously...”

As he spoke, he was about to take the knife back.

At this moment, the man dissecting the yak on the other side laughed heartily, with a hint of helplessness said ”Oh-ho,” followed by a few words in Tibetan.

Li Younan didn’t understand, but roughly guessed he had caused a small mess.

Looking over, Li Younan’s mouth twitched slightly — it turned out the man accidentally cut the intestines, causing feces to flow out.

Everyone was laughing, not taking this mistake seriously.

By then, Jiatuo had already taken the knife back, saying to Li Younan, ”We usually invite specialized masters to slaughter cattle. He is quite young and needs more practice. Hahaha. Alright, we’re going to work.”

Then several men once again worked together to subdue that yak.

Since they didn’t let Li Younan participate, he just watched from the side.

This time, having learned from the previous experience, there were no mistakes, and they successfully killed the cow.

After the slaughter, the men exchanged ideas but delayed starting to cut up the meat.

Li Younan touched his chin, ”Do you sell this yak?”

Jiatuo cheerfully replied, ”This is for a sister in our village’s wedding, you come over for food in the next two days, no charge.”

Li Younan shook his head, ”I want to buy a little to freeze in the fridge.”

”Oh, for that, our family is going to slaughter a cow in a few days, let’s talk then.”

He saw no one going to dissect, guessing that there was only the man dealing with cow dung who could slaughter on site.

Li Younan thought that he might stay nearby for a while, there would be a lot of interactions with this Tibetan village, it was necessary to leave a good impression, so he wanted to help them process the yak.

He approached Jiatuo and said, ”Do you have any particular way of cutting the yak?”

Jiatuo shook his head, ”No particular way, just divide it well.”

He assumed Li Younan was curious why they took so long to start and pointed at the man nearby, ”He’ll come over to cut it once he’s done with that cow.”

Li Younan shook his head, ”Let me handle it, give me ten minutes and I can divide it.”

Several men once again looked at Li Younan with peculiar expressions.

Jiatuo frowned, ”Can you really slaughter cattle?”

Li Younan smiled and picked up a Tibetan knife nearby, ”If I damage it, it’s on me, and I’ll compensate you with a yak.”

Jiatuo quickly waved his hand, ”No need to compensate... alright, come on, give it a try.”

This Tibetan man wasn’t pretentious, but he wanted to see if Li Younan was as impressive as he claimed.

After getting permission, Li Younan smiled slightly, lightly tested the sharpness of the knife blade with his fingers, and then precisely sliced towards the yak.

He peeled from the horn to the corner of the mouth, slicing open the connection between skin and meat, sequentially skinning the whole hide.

From the moment he started hands-on, all doubts turned into looks of amazement.

The entire process had no unnecessary cuts, within a few minutes he completely peeled the hide without any crack, the skin wasn’t attached with any fat, just took some effort during pulling.

Gradually, Jiatuo and the men were dumbfounded.

What?

This Han man from the city, could he slaughter cattle like this?

Next, Li Younan’s knife moved lightly, slicing along the centerline of the neck.

This Tibetan knife was very heavy; without using other tools, he could slice open the breastbone with one cut, then sequentially extracted stomach, spleen, and other organs, then sliced open diaphragm taking out heart, liver, gallbladder, and lungs.

Of course... when opening the breastbone, that man still used an axe.

When Li Younan really sliced open the breastbone, again it made several men jump slightly.

Each of his cuts was precise and fluent yet extremely quick, as he said, done within minutes.

He made accurate cuts on different beef textures and uses: tenderloin, striploin, cap, brisket, rib, chuck, ribeye... every cut was precise.

All the beef separated was placed on pre-prepared plastic sheets.

Throughout the process, the men went from initial mockery to complete solemnity, their eyes fixated on Li Younan’s hands, observing his operation.

When this cow here was already slaughtered, the man over there was only halfway through.

Li Younan wiped the bloodstain from his hands with a towel; the rest of him was flawlessly clean.

He casually wiped the knife’s blood, returned the knife to Jiatuo, and smiled, ”I didn’t lie to you, right?”

Jiatuo thought for a moment, only later asking, ”What’s your name?”

Li Younan said, ”I’m Li Younan.”

”Oh, Li Ding Dissects Ox.”

”Huh?”

”Haha, don’t you know this idiom?”

”Uh... well, okay...”

”Brother, come to our house, you and your girlfriend, must come to our home for a bowl of butter tea. Oh, let us show you the butter-making process, you’ll surely be interested.”

Li Younan blinked, ”Butter-making process? Oh... alright then.”

At this moment, Liu Li lightly tapped Li Younan’s waist, he turned back with a puzzled look at her.

Seeing Li Younan’s clear gaze, Liu Li shook her head, ”Never mind... it’s nothing.”
