”It updated! It updated!”

After a long wait, Guagua finally logged into the game. The first thing she did upon opening her eyes was to look around happily.

”Where’s the new character? Where’s the new character?”

After glancing around for a moment, Guagua’s eyes suddenly lit up.

Because right there, next to the Spirit Candle at the entrance of the Reef Cave, a young woman in a form-fitting black robe stood quietly. Her eyes were clear and determined, and floating above her head were three azure words.

[Candle Guardian Witch]

”Whoa! It’s a female character! She’s so beautiful!”

Guagua was thrilled and jogged all the way over to the Candle Guardian Witch.

Noxia watched the players appear one by one from the Spirit Candle, feeling a little nervous. Her hands unconsciously tightened their grip.

But she quickly recalled Luo Ge’s words, calmed herself, and gave a polite bow to Guagua before speaking softly.

”Greetings, esteemed Candle Spirit Warrior. My name is Noxia, and I am the Candle Guardian Witch of the Spirit Candle. From now on, I will be assisting the Candlekeeper with some simple matters.”

[The Candle Guardian Witch can open the Candlekeeper’s shop in his stead. You can also ask her basic questions. For important matters, you can go through her to find the Candlekeeper.]

[Note: The Candle Guardian Witch, like the Candlekeeper, is a vital story character. Please mind your in-game conduct.]

After glancing at the game notification that had suddenly popped up, Guagua had to abandon some of her wilder ideas. She had been about to ask the Candle Guardian Witch for a hug.

”Noxia? What a beautiful name!” Guagua loved looking at beautiful women. Her eyes sparkling, she looked at Noxia and asked, ”Where are you from?”

”I am also searching for my origins,” Noxia replied. Although Luo Ge had taught her this line, she had indeed forgotten a great deal, including where she came from.

”Guagua?” Just then, Li Miao also came online. He walked over, looked at the Candle Guardian Witch with great curiosity, and his eyes lit up. ”Well, what do you know, the Spirit Candle devs finally did something right for once! What a gorgeous NPC!”

Following Li Miao’s arrival, more players appeared, quickly forming a circle around Noxia.

”Holy crap, did Spirit Candle really give us a waifu?”

”Damn it, why is there only one? Give us more! One for each of us!”

”You idiots, didn’t you see the three words ’Candle Guardian Witch’ above her head? It’s obviously a matching name. She’s the waifu the game gave the Candlekeeper.”

”I’m so jealous!”

”I don’t care! I saw her, she’s my waifu!”

”What’s so great about being a Candle Guardian Witch? Miss Noxia, just say the word and we’ll immediately support you as the new Candlekeeper!”

”No way! The Candlekeeper is my husbando!”

”Then let Noxia go inside and sit, and have the Candlekeeper come out and be a male Witch!”

”Niuniu! What are you doing with that sword? Are you thinking of attacking such a pretty girl? Huh?”

”Nothing, hehe, nothing...”

Niuniu gave a sheepish grin and silently sheathed his sword.

’Who cares if she’s pretty? If it can be attacked, you have to check if it has a Blood Bar,’ Niuniu muttered to himself.

’Still, looking at the situation now, I’d better not. If I attack her, I probably won’t be able to survive in this game anymore...’

The crowd of players chattered endlessly, completely captivated by Noxia’s beauty. Someone even shouted that they wanted to be Noxia’s dog.

Faced with their over-the-top enthusiasm, even the mentally prepared Noxia was a bit overwhelmed.

Hearing some of the things the players were saying made her cheeks flush slightly. She clenched her small hands and lowered her head in embarrassment.

However, just then, a player whispered a warning.

”The Candlekeeper’s here!”

At these words, the group of players who had just been plotting to make Noxia the new Candlekeeper fell silent and discreetly hid behind the others.

”...”

Luo Ge glanced at the crowd of players before him and shook his head inwardly.

These guys were only one percent Wax Oil and ninety-nine percent rebellious spirit.

Fortunately, today was Noxia the Candle Guardian Witch’s first day on the job. Of course he couldn’t just sit by and watch; it was the perfect opportunity to come out and give these players a little reminder.

”I’m glad to see you all like the new Candle Guardian Witch so much.”

Luo Ge glanced pointedly at a few of the ”rebellious” players.

They nonchalantly looked away, either whistling or humming a little tune while staring at their toes.

”Her name is Noxia. She comes from beyond the borders of darkness and awoke in the Qi Xin Chapel behind us.”

”She was once a part of this world, but she lost many of her memories during a long slumber.”

”Now, she has become one of us, helping us explore even further.”

”If you have any questions, you can come to me through her.”

”I hope you can all act with kindness and understanding, and not do things that only monsters with muddled consciousness would do.”

As he spoke, Luo Ge’s gaze landed precisely on Niuniu in the crowd.

The players around him instinctively shuffled away, righteously distancing themselves from Niuniu in the span of a single breath.

Seeing this, Niuniu could only look up at the sky and scratch the back of his head in embarrassment.

’Oh crap, how does the Candlekeeper still remember that? I was really wrong!’

Niuniu wanted to cry but had no tears.

After years of being an outlaw in games, to be publicly shamed by an NPC today was just too humiliating.

The players nearby gloated at his misfortune.
