Bizarre Voyage: Summoning The Fourth Crisis

Through constant trial and error, the players’ understanding of the new Frogman Bloodline gradually increased.

Aside from their somewhat lackluster starting Attributes, the Frogman Candle Spirits were simply perfect for practical use!

In particular, their ability to freely enter the water already put them leagues ahead of the original Ordinary bloodline.

Comparing the area of Candle Island to the nearby sea was like comparing a sunflower seed to a watermelon.

Without the Frogman Bloodline, an Ordinary Candle Spirit would need a Spirit Fire Raft to travel on the sea.

Moreover, the Spirit Fire Raft itself could be destroyed and had movement restrictions, which was extremely frustrating.

But Frogman Candle Spirits had no such concerns.

Not only could they swim freely in the ocean, but they could also hold their breath and dive for nearly ten minutes, putting them far, far ahead of the curve!

Some players even felt that Frogman Candle Spirits didn’t need to buy a Spirit Fire Raft at all; they could just swim wherever they wanted to go.

This led many players to feel the bloodline was overpowered, and they clamored on the forums to change theirs.

Luo Ge was unconcerned by this.

The human-bloodline Candle Spirit players’ vulnerability to water was a defect that had existed in the Candle Spirit Body from the very beginning.

This was because the Spirit Candles lacked the ”material” for a bloodline.

But after using the Bloodline Fruit, this material was now available.

Therefore, it was a fixable defect.

However... fixing this defect meant modifying each player’s Candle Spirit Body one by one. Although it wouldn’t take as much as the initial summoning, it was still no small amount.

So, the problem was the same old one—a shortage of Wax Oil.

And since this defect was inherently unreasonable—after all, humans can swim and hold their breath for short periods—Luo Ge was fated to simply ”fix” it.

If he made the players pay Wax Oil for this, he wouldn’t care about being cursed out, but it would mainly seem strange and illogical.

’I still need this batch of Xiaojuncai to maintain their self-perception as players, so for something like this, I can only bite the bullet and bear the cost myself...’

’But I’ll have to find a suitable time to make the change. At least, not right now. I need to wait until Wax Oil is more abundant.’

...

Night fell once again in the real world.

Brother Miao Won’t Fail the Exam: ”Is everyone still on Exile Island? What’s the plan for tonight?”

Poems and the Faraway Place: ”I’m going to keep grinding and confirm the monster drop tables on the island.”

My hamster’s name is Guagua: ”I heard those Rotting Prisoners are disgustingly badass. I’m gonna go check them out.”

Battle Bliss: ”Less talk, more action. I’m heading to the island to start fighting!”

Mushroom: ”I’m planning to scout out the small fortress first. The final boss of Exile Island should be in there. Bros, remember to tab out and check the group chat when you have a moment. I’ll post updates there.”

He was met with a string of ”OK”s in reply.

Never Air Force Fisherman: ”I’m planning to check out Exile Island too.”

I do Bull’s Push-ups: ”Don’t think any monsters on Exile Island drop bait, do they?”

Never Air Force Fisherman: ”...Can’t I just go for the Wax Oil and equipment? (Speechless)”

Storyteller: ”@everyone, if you have any important intel, remember to @ me. Thanks a bunch!”

[Storyteller sent a Lucky Money packet. Come and get it!]

”Thanks, boss!”

”The boss is so generous!”

Battle Bliss: ”A huge 20-yuan packet, so why did I only get 0.1 yuan (Crying)...”

...

After a brief exchange, Li Miao quickly logged into the game.

Wax Oil gathered and solidified into a human form. He slowly stood up, his Ghost Cloak rustling in the sea breeze behind him.

’I have to grind out that Sword Qi Battle Ash tonight!’

After a glance at the dark sea, Li Miao headed to the shore encampment, weapon in hand.

He was about to charge in and pull the mobs like before, but he quickly stopped and slapped himself on the forehead.

’I’ll just use that cheese strategy Niuniu came up with. Otherwise, it’ll take forever to get that Battle Ash to drop!’

After successfully cheesing the shore encampment, Niuniu didn’t keep it to himself. He immediately posted the unorthodox strategy he’d developed on the forums and in the group chat.

This made many a ”despicable” Candle Spirit grin knowingly.

While you could grind Wax Oil from Rotting Prisoners, for equipment and Battle Ashes, the Gulard Soldiers in the patrol corridors were still the best source.

This turned the towering rock into a popular check-in spot for these ”despicable” players.

However, this method wasn’t foolproof.

This was because there were also Archers among the Gulard Soldiers in the shore encampment...

But for Li Miao, this was no problem at all.

He was the server’s number one... player, after all. A little difficulty like this was no threat to him!

[You have slain a Torch-bearing Soldier]

[You have slain a Shield Soldier]

[You have slain a Defender Captain]

[...]

”Heheh!”

The string of kill notifications brought an involuntary smile to Li Miao’s face.

’A despicable tactic may be shameless, but it works!’

Besides, killing them one by one also increased his proficiency with Gulard Combat Skills. It was killing two birds with one stone!

[Acquired: Soldier’s Light Armor ×1]

[Acquired: Defense Greatsword (Fine)]

[Acquired: Battle Ash·Crescent Moon Sword Qi]

A short while later, while cleaning up the battlefield, Li Miao finally saw the cluster of ashes he had been longing for, and his eyes lit up.

[Defense Greatsword (Fine)]

[Type: Weapon]

[Explanation: A heavy and sharp Greatsword, capable of both killing and stunning. Grants +1 Power when used.]

’These Attributes aren’t bad, but they overlap with my Candlefire Scimitar, and it’s not as agile. I can keep it as a backup.’

[Battle Ash·Crescent Moon Sword Qi]

[Type: Skill Book]

[Quality: Embers]

[Effect: After charging, you can unleash a damaging, crescent-shaped wave of Sword Qi (Usable with all blade-type weapons)]

[Explanation: A Knight once slew a Sea Siren that was churning the seas under a moonlit night. Thus, the Crescent Moon Sword Qi was born and came to be widely used by the Gulard Army.]

’So it’s called Crescent Moon Sword Qi...’

Having finally obtained the Battle Ash he’d been longing for, Li Miao was satisfied at last.

However, after a moment’s thought, he decided to grind a little longer.

’Well, since I’m already here, I might as well grind a bit more.’

’This cheese strategy of Niuniu’s is just too convenient.’

’I wonder if this Defender Captain will drop the armor it’s wearing...’

After muttering to himself for a bit, Li Miao resumed his role as the ”despicable” gatekeeper.

...

Meanwhile, the other players were busy with their own tasks.

Mushroom was now standing beside a Spirit Candle again, facing the small, stone-piled fortress.

Behind him, of course, was his old friend, the Black Stone Gatekeeper. But it only guarded the path up the mountain and hadn’t noticed Mushroom behind it, so for now, it was just a pile of black stones.

’This... off it comes. And this one, off too... All into the Spirit Candle...’

’And this... wait, this one won’t come off. Forget it.’

’Alright, done. Now I don’t have to worry about not being able to pick up Wax Ash.’

Dressed only in his underwear, Mushroom clapped his hands together and looked toward the fortress, full of confidence.

He was dead set on this trip being purely for scouting.

’After all... if I don’t have anything good on me, I have nothing to lose!’
