Bizarre Voyage: Summoning The Fourth Crisis

After losing an arm, the Law Knight, whose Blood Volume was already low, finally fell to Brother Mangzi’s fists.

Brother Mangzi panted slightly, lowering his trembling hands.

”Thank you...”

The Law Knight, seeming to retain a sliver of consciousness, rasped out its thanks. Its half-kneeling body began to turn to Ashes and gradually fade away.

All that remained was a small, blazing cluster of Warfire emitting a faint glow, the Gulard symbol within it flickering in and out of view.

This time, the drops weren’t stingy at all. The full set of Law Knight equipment dropped.

And a new game prompt solved the doubt that had just surfaced in Brother Mangzi’s mind.

[Warning! You have killed a unique monster in this instance. It cannot be Resurrected.]

”Whew...”

Brother Mangzi let out a breath. For some reason, looking at the loot in front of him, he didn’t feel as happy as he had expected.

’After all that trouble to have such a satisfying fight, it ended with a whimper.’

’Why did the Law Knight act so abnormally?’

While thinking, Brother Mangzi walked over to the Spirit Candle, took out the Warfire Fire Seed, and prepared to see what effect it would have.

As if sensing his thoughts, the game quickly displayed a prompt.

[Do you wish to introduce Fire Seed·Law Knight (Initial Stage)?]

[Your compatibility with this Warfire is: 60%]

[Successful Fire Ignition will grant the following effects: Power +1, Constitution +3, and the new Talent ”Proof of the Law”.]

[Note: After a successful Fire Ignition, you will temporarily be unable to change your Warfire.]

’Four attribute points and a new Talent...’

After finally managing to read through all this information, Brother Mangzi couldn’t help but scratch his head. He didn’t know if he should go ahead with the Fire Ignition right now.

However, after a moment’s hesitation, he put it into his inventory. ”...Forget it. I’ll ask the others in the group chat first.”

...

Brother Miao Won’t Fail the Exam: ”I’m at my wit’s end. Are this Law Knight’s stats bugged or something? My Candlefire Scimitar can’t even scratch it. I have to use Gulard Heavy Strike just to make it lose any health. Is this a bug?”

”Bros, have you guys beaten it yet? @everyone”

At that moment, Li Miao was fuming and complaining in the group chat.

He had been hacking away at the Law Knight in the fortress, but its health barely budged. On the other hand, he considered himself lucky to only get a Severe Injury from a single hit. One moment of carelessness and he was killed instantly...

After he sent the message, no one replied right away.

Just as he was glumly about to go back into the game to continue his suffering, he suddenly saw that Brother Mangzi had spoken.

Battle Bliss: ”Huh? It’s not that bad, is it? The Law Knight has a lot of health, but it’s not like it doesn’t take damage.”

Battle Bliss: ”I already beat it. It dropped a bunch of gear and a Fire Seed for Fire Ignition. Looks like you can use this thing to ignite right away, but it seems more suitable for a Knight. @Brother Miao Won’t Fail the Exam”

Brother Miao Won’t Fail the Exam: ”???”

Brother Miao Won’t Fail the Exam: ”Brother Mangzi, you already beat it? The Law Knight??? For real?”

’What?’

’Impossible, absolutely impossible!’

Li Miao was in disbelief. If it weren’t for the fact that Brother Mangzi was such an honest guy, he would never have believed those words.

Battle Bliss: ”It was a close call, but yeah, I beat it.”

Brother Miao Won’t Fail the Exam: ”...”

Poems and the Faraway Place: ”I beat it too.”

Poems and the Faraway Place: ”The Law Knight’s Tier Two is tougher to deal with. It should trigger at one-third health. Be careful of the bloody water it flings.”

Seeing this, not only was Li Miao dumbfounded, but Brother Mangzi was also stunned.

Battle Bliss: ”Tier Two? What Tier Two? @Poems and the Faraway Place”

Poems and the Faraway Place: ”When it’s at one-third health, it clutches its arm and kneels, then it mutates. One of its hands can fling Rotten blood-water, which applies the same debuff as the Rotting Prisoners in the jail... What, you didn’t encounter that? @Battle Bliss”

Battle Bliss: ”Nope, didn’t know about that. I chopped its arm off with my axe, and then it got up and fought me with one arm.”

Poems and the Faraway Place: ”I see... so the game actually gives you that option...”

Brother Miao Won’t Fail the Exam: ”...? (visible confusion.jpg)”

Li Miao wanted to cry but had no tears. He hadn’t even managed to trigger the Law Knight’s Tier Two.

Brother Miao Won’t Fail the Exam: ”@Poems and the Faraway Place, Faraway, when you were fighting it, didn’t you notice the Law Knight was super tough?”

Faraway was silent for a moment, apparently scrolling through the chat history and typing.

Poems and the Faraway Place: ”Didn’t feel that way. I was using a Wooden Staff.”

”It might be a weapon issue.”

Faraway then @’d them both in the chat, asking what weapons they were using.

After learning the specifics, Faraway’s suspicion grew stronger.

Poems and the Faraway Place: ”Try a blunt weapon. Use more Charged Heavy Attacks.”

Li Miao paused when he heard that, then finally had a sudden realization.

Brother Miao Won’t Fail the Exam: ”You mean... the reason I’m doing no damage is because sharp weapons have limited effectiveness against a Knight’s Heavy Armor?”

Li Miao thought about it, and it seemed to make sense.

Isn’t the whole point of a Knight wearing Heavy Armor to defend against sharp weapons?

And the reason Gulard Heavy Strike was effective was most likely because it’s a type of Charged Attack...

’At this thought, I felt like a complete jackass.’

’It’s true that you can’t see the forest for the trees... but I’ve been completely lost in the woods...’

Poems and the Faraway Place: ”Probably, but we can’t rule out a game bug.”

Brother Miao Won’t Fail the Exam: ”...I’m gonna go try again.”

After Li Miao left, other people started to pop up in the chat.

Storyteller: ”You beat it already? As expected of the experts. I bow to your greatness.”

Storyteller: ”@Poems and the Faraway Place, any new discoveries, expert?”

Poems and the Faraway Place: ”Hold on.”

The group chat fell silent for a little while.

A few minutes later, a new message suddenly popped up.

Never Air Force Fisherman: ”Hiss... This Law Knight is pretty tanky. Took me a long time to grind it down, almost wiped (wipes sweat).”

Battle Bliss: ”?”

Storyteller: ”Huh? Another expert in our midst?!”
