Bizarre Voyage: Summoning The Fourth Crisis

BOOM—

A red light erupted on the deck of the decrepit galleon. The bodies of several Living Corpse monsters instantly shattered, their desiccated remains scattering across the wood.

A figure leaped out from a hole in the shattered deck. As he landed, a cold light flashed, taking down two more frenzied Living Corpses.

WHOOSH!

A giant axe whistled as it fell.

Faraway twisted aside, perfectly evading the sneak attack. With lightning-fast reflexes, he followed through with a slash of his own, instantly beheading the Blood Axe Living Corpse.

By now, he had wiped out every Living Corpse on the galleon’s decrepit deck.

But Faraway didn’t relax his guard. Instead, his gaze fell upon the withered, half-kneeling figure in front of the ship’s helm.

He was the very image of a stereotypical pirate captain, clad in a pitch-black longcoat and a tricorn hat. His frame was so massive that even while half-kneeling, he was taller than a Blood Axe Living Corpse.

CRACK.

As if it had heard the commotion, the pirate captain’s shoulder suddenly twitched.

SKITTER...

Innumerable cockroaches and rats suddenly poured from the cavity in its chest, flowing out like a grotesque stream.

SWOOSH—

Faraway’s expression didn’t change. Without a word, he immediately fired a Blood Stone Burst at it.

The red Magic Ball hurtled forward. Just as it was about to strike the creature’s head, a massive Bone Fist, equipped with what looked like a Finger Tiger, suddenly swung out!

BOOM—

Amid the blast of crimson light, a towering figure slowly rose to its feet, its blood-red eyes glowing even brighter than the aftershock of the Magic Ball.

[Pirate Captain]

[Tier: Embers]

[Level: 13]

[Talent: Unknown]

[Skill: Unknown]

[Explanation: In the face of death, chaos and madness become the norm. All will be reduced to nothingness, but the truly faithful think nothing of it.]

WHOOSH!

In retaliation for Faraway’s dishonorable sneak attack, the Pirate Captain returned the favor, raising its massive fist and swinging it violently toward him!

In addition to the black Finger Tiger and scraps of dried flesh, its withered knuckles were now wreathed in the pale yellow Power of Warfire!

Faraway’s eyes narrowed, and he leaped back, barely dodging the punch.

BOOM!

The punch didn’t lose any momentum. Though it missed Faraway, it slammed directly into the decrepit galleon’s mast, which collapsed and crashed down in a shower of splintered wood!

Even for Faraway, who specialized in the Agility Attribute, the pressure to Dodge this monster’s attacks was immense!

However, after a quick scan of his surroundings and a moment of thought, Faraway swapped out the Dagger and Magic Staff in his hands for a Rapid Short Bow.

He then began to kite his opponent with extreme calm.

SWOOSH!

A purple Tail Feather Arrow flew straight into its neck. Upon impact, a purple Poisonous Fog erupted and coiled around its body, beginning to eat away at the Pirate Captain’s life.

Faraway’s Archery was as if honed over a thousand trials; his shots were powerful, and his firing rate was just as fast!

Riddled with several Arrows, the Pirate Captain’s life force rapidly declined. Faraway dodged every one of its powerful Warfire-enhanced punches ahead of time, answering each with another Arrow.

Suddenly, it stopped. It raised its hands high and looked to the sky, its withered lips moving as a blood-red light swirled in its eye sockets.

”Stor...m...”

WHOOSH! WHOOSH!

As it roared, a hurricane gathered, coiling around its fists like serpents, with streaks of lightning crackling within.

SWOOSH! SWOOSH! SWOOSH!

Faraway’s expression was as tranquil as still water, but he drew his bowstring even faster than before.

The Pirate Captain was soon shot until it bristled with arrows like a porcupine; some Arrows had even pierced straight through its body.

Suddenly, Faraway’s hands froze. Then, without the slightest hesitation, he leaped into the hole in the deck.

WHOOOOSH!!!

The Pirate Captain let out a silent roar, its fists flailing wildly. The hurricane coiling around them surged with manic energy, obliterating everything they touched and pushing the already decrepit galleon past its breaking point!

The storm had extended its attack range!

Although its destructive power was less than before, its attack range had increased dramatically!

However, just as the Pirate Captain was flailing wildly, the sound of something slicing through the air rang out once more.

THWIP!

From the hole in the deck, a Poison Feather Arrow shot up with extreme precision, piercing the Pirate Captain’s head from its lower jaw straight through its Skull Cap.

The Pirate Captain’s movements froze.

The next moment, its knees buckled. The towering body crashed to the deck, dissolving into a cloud of dissipating Ashes.

[You have killed the Pirate Captain]

[Obtained: Wax Oil ×21]

After killing it, Faraway’s expression was calm. He lowered his Rapid Short Bow as the illusory Warfire surging beneath his arms gradually subsided.

He hadn’t taken a single hit.

A short while later, he returned to the debris-strewn deck and began to pick up the loot for inspection.

’Unknown... Looks like this will need to be identified.’

After this thought, Faraway collected all the loot, then began picking up the remaining Wax Oil.

...

”A worthy opponent!”

”Hah!”

BANG!

SPLASH!

A burly Candle Spirit Body was sent flying like a cannonball by a single punch, landing in the sea with a splash before turning into Ashes.

In his Wandering Soul State, Brother Mangzi watched the miniature storm in the Pirate Captain’s hands and fell silent.

’This monster’s Power is a bit over the top...’

Brother Mangzi clicked his tongue.

He had just finished slaughtering the mobs in the ship’s hold when he ran into the Pirate Captain. After a fierce struggle, his opponent had summoned the storm.

Caught up in his excitement, the blood rushed to his head, and on some bizarre impulse, he swung his club to meet the attack head-on.

The result was obvious...

He didn’t care, though. He’d died plenty of times before.

Glancing at the black Finger Tiger on the Pirate Captain’s fist, he suddenly felt his own Wolf Fang Club was a bit lacking.

’I wonder if this monster drops that Finger Tiger Weapon?’

’Fist-to-flesh combat, that must feel amazing!’

Brother Mangzi thought excitedly.

But soon, his Ghost began to be pulled by some unseen force...

Only then did his expression fall.

He wasn’t being pulled toward the island ahead, but toward the Gray Mist behind him.

”Crap, I have to make the run all over again?”

Brother Mangzi was vexed.

’I should’ve gone to that island first to see if there was a Milestone Spirit Candle...’

...

Watching Brother Mangzi’s Wandering Soul get pulled back by the Spirit Candle, Luo Ge, who had been observing in secret, was at a loss for words.

’That guy really lives up to his name,’ Luo Ge thought. ’Daring to go up against the Pirate Captain’s sandbag-sized fists with a Wolf Fang Club the size of a toothpick.’

’A classic case of letting his biceps do the thinking...’

’Still, even if Brother Mangzi was a disappointment, Faraway more than made up for it!’

’That perfectly calm mind of his led to such fluid maneuvers. To actually kill the Pirate Captain without taking a single hit... it’s absolutely ridiculous.’

’That kid is still the most dependable one!’

Luo Ge was quite pleased.

After a moment of silent praise, he began to ponder matters concerning the Pirate Captain.

This was the first ”Embers” Quality monster they had encountered, and it also wielded the Power of Warfire.

It was also worth noting that, unlike the run-of-the-mill mobs, this one retained some lingering information, like a persistent obsession.

This allowed the Spirit Candle’s Perception Power to directly pick up on some relatively basic information...

This couldn’t help but stir a sliver of anticipation in Luo Ge’s heart.

’I wonder if there are any sentient beings on this Exile Island we can communicate with...’
