Divine Level Witch Doctor

’Perhaps these questions can only be answered after I find Ying Ji.’

Zhao Yuan looked down at the Tong Moth Larva. Perhaps it had foreseen its impending doom, or perhaps the suppressive effect of the Fearless Pearl was weakening. It struggled even more violently than before, so much so that even Zhao Yuan was having trouble controlling it.

’I have to destroy it immediately, or something will go wrong!’

Zhao Yuan stomped on the bag and ground it with his heel, instantly breaking it. White Phosphorus spilled out, releasing a garlic-like odor.

At the smell, the Tong Moth Larva grew even more frantic and struggled harder. It also let out a series of cries like a wailing infant, an exceptionally eerie and terrifying sound.

Zhao Yuan wasn’t frightened, nor did he let it escape. He bent over and shoved the Tong Moth Larva into the pile of White Phosphorus Powder.

”WAAH WAAH WAAH—”

The Tong Moth Larva immediately let out a piercing shriek and struggled even more fiercely, but it was useless. Zhao Yuan’s hands seemed to possess immense strength, holding it down firmly. Soon, a brilliant burst of flame erupted from the Tong Moth Larva’s body, releasing an extremely acrid, foul stench that nearly made Zhao Yuan pass out.

The flames burned for a good seven or eight minutes. By the time they went out, the Tong Moth Larva was nothing but a pile of black ash. The operating room was now filled with the acrid stench. Even holding his breath, Zhao Yuan felt his head ache and his vision swim; it was miserable.

Zhao Yuan couldn’t stand being in there a moment longer. He picked up the unconscious nurse and pressed the switch by the door. The operating room’s steel door slid open automatically. Zhao Yuan dashed out, then quickly spun around and hit the switch from the outside, sealing the door again. He had to close it, otherwise the foul stench would escape.

”What’s going on? What’s that horrible smell?” A doctor from another operating room ran over, pinching his nose. Then, he saw the nurse in Zhao Yuan’s arms and asked in surprise, ”What happened to her?”

Zhao Yuan didn’t tell him the whole story, choosing instead to say, ”This awful smell was released when the new type of parasite was destroyed. That operating room is completely filled with it now, so don’t open the door under any circumstances! This nurse fainted because she was overcome by the stench.”

The doctor didn’t doubt him. The faint traces of the stench that had already escaped were enough to make him feel nauseous, so he didn’t find it strange that the nurse had fainted.

”This won’t do. I have to crank the ventilation in that room to maximum!” the doctor said, then turned and ran to the entrance of the surgical wing, where a workstation with a computer controlled the systems for each operating room.

Zhao Yuan followed behind him, still carrying the nurse. When they reached the workstation, he gently laid her on the floor. He then took out his Golden Needles from his Storage Ring Space and performed acupuncture on her Forehead, as well as her Hegu and Zusanli points, to replenish her vital Qi and Yang Qi.

After about ten minutes of treatment, the nurse opened her eyes. She was still very weak. ”What just happened to me?” she asked in surprise. ”How did I fall asleep?”

She had no memory of being possessed by the Ghost Spirit.

Zhao Yuan said, ”It’s nothing. You just fainted from the awful stench that the Tong Moth Larva released when it died. Just get some rest, eat some Mountain Yam and dates, and you’ll be fine in a couple of days.”

”Really? Why don’t I remember anything?” the nurse asked with a frown.

”You just woke up, so it’s normal that your memory is fuzzy,” Zhao Yuan said evasively. ”Okay, don’t worry about it. Go sit in that chair and get some rest.”

”Okay,” the nurse nodded. Right now, she didn’t have the strength to do anything even if she wanted to.

Zhao Yuan asked the doctor at the workstation to look after the nurse. Then, he went to scrub in again, changed into a fresh set of surgical scrubs, and re-entered the first operating room.

Director Song and Pan Mei were still engrossed in the surgery.

”How’s the surgery going?” Zhao Yuan asked.

”It’s going well,” Pan Mei replied, looking up. ”The wound on the pylorus is repaired. The damage to the heart is a little more complicated, but it’s proceeding smoothly.”

Zhao Yuan nodded. Activating his Qi Observation Technique, he saw that the patient’s vital Qi was gradually recovering, just as Pan Mei had said. Still, he asked, ”Do you need my help with the surgery?”

”No,” Director Song said, looking up. ”This isn’t a difficult operation. I can handle it. You can just watch.”

He didn’t want Zhao Yuan to underestimate him and was keen to show off his own skills.

”Alright. I’ll leave her in your hands,” Zhao Yuan said with a nod, not pressing the issue.

After all, Director Song was the head of the emergency department at City Second Hospital. He wouldn’t have gotten that position without some real skill. Besides, Zhao Yuan had other matters to attend to.

After a few more words, Zhao Yuan left the operating room and changed back into his own clothes. It was only then that he noticed several missed calls on his phone.

There were calls from Lin Xue and Liu Zhu, as well as Lu Qing.

Zhao Yuan called Lu Qing back first. ”Are you at the hospital?”

”I’m here, waiting outside the O.R. Is your surgery over?” Lu Qing asked. On her way, she had asked the E.R. doctors and nurses and found out that Zhao Yuan was in surgery removing a parasite from a patient.

”I’ve removed the Evil Gu,” Zhao Yuan replied, ”but the surgery is still in progress because the patient sustained some damage to her stomach and heart. Other doctors are finishing up, though. I’m coming out now. We’ll go find the person who cast the Gu!”

Lu Qing asked urgently, ”You know where the person who cast the Gu is?”

”I do. I’ll tell you when I come out.”

After hanging up, Zhao Yuan called Lin Xue to briefly explain the situation. He told them not to wait for him—they should either head back to school after they finished eating or find something else to do. Afterward, he pocketed his phone, took a pen and paper from his Storage Ring Space, and seeing that the locker room was empty, performed the Tracking Technique. He chanted silently, ’Tell me, where is she right now—Ying Ji, the master of the Ghost Spirit that just ambushed me!’

The pen in Zhao Yuan’s hand began to move on its own, writing a line of text on the paper: 217 Changshun Road, Wood Garden Villa Area, Building 31. After the address, it even drew a small map showing the location of the complex.

Clutching the paper, Zhao Yuan rushed out of the locker room. In the waiting area outside the O.R., he found Lu Qing and the female patient’s boyfriend.

”How’s my girlfriend?” The young man rushed over the moment he saw Zhao Yuan.

”The parasite has been removed, and she’s in follow-up surgery now. Don’t worry, she’s out of danger,” Zhao Yuan reassured him, telling him to wait there patiently. Then he turned to Lu Qing, who had come up to him. ”Let’s go. To the Wood Garden Villa Area!”
