Divine Level Witch Doctor

Zhao Yuan nodded. ”That’s right! Not only is this scalpel made of stone, but all of these surgical instruments are made of stone.”

Deng Chang’s jaw dropped. He said in disbelief, ”Surgical instruments made of stone? Can these even be used?”

Yang Li and Wu Mei, whom he had called over to be his assistants, were also stunned.

Zhao Yuan replied, ”Of course they can. In Traditional Chinese Medicine surgery, the earliest surgical instruments used were made of stone.”

There was something else he kept to himself: ’Besides, these aren’t just ordinary stones. They’re Spirit Medicine Stones! Surgical instruments made from them are true Divine Artifacts. How could ordinary tools even compare?’

Deng Chang and the others were all ordinary people, mere mortals. How could they possibly see the miraculous nature of this set of surgical tools? They all thought Zhao Yuan was just fooling around!

Just then, Zhao Ling walked into the room carrying a basin of boiling water.

Zhao Yuan placed the surgical instruments inside to sterilize them, then washed his hands with the boiling water. By the time he was done, Shen Lijun and the others came in carrying basins. Steam billowed from the basins, which held towels, cloth strips, and other items.

”Dr. Deng, what should we do? We’re not really going to perform surgery with instruments made of stone, are we? Will that even work?” Yang Li asked in a low voice.

Wu Mei added, ”Stone dulls easily, and it can also crack and chip. If that happens during the surgery, it could easily cause an accident! It might even cause secondary harm to Xiaofeng!”

Deng Chang shared the two nurses’ worries.

But the conditions were this primitive, so he could only bite the bullet and proceed.

Taking a deep breath, Deng Chang said, ”There’s no other way. Xiaofeng’s injuries are too critical. I’ll just have to take a gamble! I hope these stone instruments don’t cause any problems during the surgery!”

Inside, he was complaining, ’I have no idea what this kid was thinking, getting a set of stone surgical tools. Isn’t this treating the patient’s life like a joke?’

Deng Chang turned and also put his hands into the basin of boiling water, wanting to clean them before starting the surgery. However, as soon as his hands went into the boiling water, he was scalded and screamed, ”Ah! It’s so hot, so hot! It hurts like hell!”

Zhao Yuan said irritably, ”This is boiling water, of course it’s hot. I really don’t know what you were thinking, just sticking your hands directly into boiling water.”

Shaking his hands, Deng Chang said in confusion, ”But I saw you put your hands in this water and you were fine.”

Zhao Yuan shook his head. ”Can you compare to me? Bro, I’m trained.”

Deng Chang was stunned.

’Trained? What does that mean? Trained to stick his hands in boiling water? What the hell, is he some kind of freak? What normal person practices that for fun?’

While he was still surprised, Zhao Yuan took a towel from another basin of boiling water, wrung it out forcefully, and shook it a bit to let it cool down. Then, he carefully began to wipe the blood and dirt from around Feng Ming’s wound.

Seeing this, Deng Chang couldn’t help but nod, thinking to himself, ’Although the surgical tools this kid brought out are unreliable, he’s pretty sharp. I haven’t even given any instructions, and he’s already started cleaning the wound. His technique is skillful, too. He clearly has some clinical experience.’

How could he have known that while Zhao Yuan did have clinical experience, the only surgery he had performed before was on the White Cat? This was his first time operating on a person.

Seeing that Zhao Yuan had already started, Deng Chang could only endure the scalding pain and stick his hands into the boiling water again to clean them. After all, the conditions here were extremely limited. There were no sterile gloves, no disinfectants like iodine or alcohol. Boiling water was all they had.

The towel in Zhao Yuan’s hands was quickly soaked crimson with blood.

Although Feng Ming’s wound had been carefully bandaged and a leather belt was tied tightly above it, the attempt to stop the bleeding was not very effective. Blood was still gushing out continuously, and the towel was soaked in a matter of moments.

Zhao Yuan set it aside and instructed his sister, Zhao Ling, ”Take this out, wash it clean, then put it back in the boiling water to continue sterilizing it.”

”Okay.” Zhao Ling’s innocent face was filled with nervousness and fear, but she immediately carried out her brother’s instructions.

Zhao Yuan then picked up another towel, wrung it dry, and continued to wipe the wound.

In just a few moments, the mud around the wound was washed away. Blood was still gushing out. Zhao Yuan put down the towel and quickly untied the leather belt fastened above the wound.

”Why did you untie that?” Deng Chang, who was washing his hands, grew anxious and hurriedly said, ”We used that belt to apply pressure to the artery and stop the bleeding.”

Without looking up, Zhao Yuan said, ”Your idea was right, but you didn’t tie it tight enough. I need to re-tie it.” He quickly took the belt he had just undone and refastened it above the wound. Sure enough, it was much tighter than before, and the bleeding was better controlled.

Deng Chang was dumbfounded.

It had taken several of them working together to get that belt as tight as it was. He never expected Zhao Yuan to so easily tie it even tighter all by himself... The strength in his hands was just immense, wasn’t it?

How could he have known that this was with Zhao Yuan holding back? He was afraid that if he used too much force and tied it too tightly, it would cause harm to Feng Ming.

After re-tightening the belt, Zhao Yuan took out a few Golden Needles and swiftly inserted them into the area around the wound, stimulating the muscles to constrict the blood vessels.

The combination of techniques brought Feng Ming’s bleeding under much better control.

While cleaning the wound and applying pressure to stop the bleeding, Zhao Yuan also saw the tree branch impaled in Feng Ming’s inner thigh.

To complete the surgery, the branch had to be removed.

Zhao Yuan took a deep breath, using his left hand to hold Feng Ming’s thigh steady.

Although Feng Ming was already unconscious, the process of removing the branch would definitely be painful. If the pain stimulated him and he moved, it would be disastrous.

At the same time, he grasped the branch with his right hand and began to pull it out.

During this process, Zhao Yuan used a clever technique to minimize the pain he was causing Feng Ming.

Deng Chang, who was standing to the side, was terrified by this action and exclaimed, ”What are you doing?”

You couldn’t just pull the branch out so easily! The slightest mistake could cause even greater damage to the femoral artery, or even harm the nervous and reproductive systems!

In Deng Chang’s eyes, Zhao Yuan was being unbelievably reckless. He wanted to stop him, but it was too late.

With a dull SQUELCH, Zhao Yuan pulled out the broken branch.

The gush of blood he had imagined did not appear. Even the unconscious Feng Ming barely moved.

The branch had been removed with incredible success!

In fact, it was so successful it was almost unbelievable!

Deng Chang, Yang Li, and Wu Mei were all completely stunned.

They knew very well that while this task looked simple, its degree of difficulty was extremely high! Forget about doing it in such a primitive environment; even in the operating room of a major hospital, it wouldn’t be so easy to remove the branch, let alone do it so cleanly and efficiently!

How on earth did he do it?

The same question appeared in all three of their minds at once.
