Divine Level Witch Doctor

Zhao Yuan turned around. Seeing the nurse who had followed him into the operating room, he asked with some surprise, ”Why did you come in?”

The nurse replied, ”I thought you might need some help, so I followed you.”

”Aren’t you scared?” Zhao Yuan asked.

”I am,” the nurse said, a bit embarrassed.

Zhao Yuan let out a laugh and shook his head. He instructed her, ”Alright, I don’t need your help here. Just put the White Phosphorus down and leave.”

The nurse was about to agree, but the words caught in her throat. She lowered her head, a strange light flashing in her eyes.

Then, she said calmly, ”Okay, here’s the White Phosphorus for you.”

As she spoke, she reached out to hand the White Phosphorus to Zhao Yuan.

Suspecting nothing, Zhao Yuan casually instructed, ”Just put it on the tray stand.”

But the nurse didn’t follow his command. The hand reaching for him suddenly sped up.

Only then did Zhao Yuan realize the nurse was trying to snatch the Teng Mo he had subdued. He quickly retreated and sidestepped, dodging her outstretched hand. ”Are you crazy?” he snapped.

”Give it to me!” the nurse spoke, her voice completely different from before. It was so sinister it made one’s scalp crawl and goosebumps break out instantly.

”Hm?” Zhao Yuan sensed something was wrong. A guess flashed through his mind, and he hurriedly activated his Qi Observation Technique. He saw a mass of black Qi, thick with the aura of death, churning between the nurse’s eyebrows.

He immediately recalled what he had seen at his hometown on the night of New Year’s Day and blurted out, ”Ghost Spirit possession?”

A flicker of astonishment crossed the nurse’s face. ”I never thought you’d be able to see through me! Give me the Teng Mo right now, or don’t blame me for killing you!”

”Are you Ying Ji’s Ghost Spirit?” Zhao Yuan asked in a low voice.

It wasn’t that he had actually seen the Ghost Spirit’s identity. He simply knew that Ying Ji had a Ghost Spirit, so he asked the question to see if he could trick it into revealing its origin.

The expression on the possessed nurse’s face changed drastically. ”Who are you?” she demanded in shock.

Seeing its reaction, Zhao Yuan knew he had guessed right. This Ghost Spirit was the very one raised by Ying Ji! He was suddenly reminded of Ying Ji’s status as a Witch Cultivator. And wasn’t one of the skills of a Witch Priest Raising Gu?

’Could this Teng Mo have been raised by Ying Ji?’

His expression instantly grew stern and grave.

Seeing Zhao Yuan not answering its question, the Ghost Spirit let out a furious roar. The nurse it possessed lunged at Zhao Yuan like a starving tiger pouncing on its prey.

”Give me the Teng Mo! Now!”

Under the Ghost Spirit’s control, the nurse burst forward with astonishing, inhuman speed, reaching Zhao Yuan in an instant.

This time, Zhao Yuan hadn’t anticipated the nurse’s speed. Caught off guard, he failed to dodge her outstretched hand and was grabbed by the arm.

”HISS!”

Zhao Yuan winced, sucking in a sharp breath of cold air as a piercing pain shot through his arm. He looked down and saw wisps of green smoke rising from where the nurse had grabbed him. The muscle tissue was even showing signs of corrosion.

’Corpse toxin?!’ The term flashed through Zhao Yuan’s mind.

Corpse toxin was a type of attack used by Ghost Spirits, a virulent poison formed from Death Qi and Ghost Qi.

Zhao Yuan’s reaction was incredibly fast. He immediately circulated his Wish Power, spreading it across his arm to block further damage from the Ghost Spirit’s corpse toxin. At the same time, he opened his Storage Ring Space. Since his hands were occupied, he used his mouth to take out a Fearless Pearl from the Storage Ring Space and spit it at the nurse in front of him.

The attack was so sudden that by the time the Ghost Spirit noticed, the Fearless Pearl had already struck the nurse between the eyebrows.

”AHH!”

A sharp, ear-piercing shriek echoed through the operating room. A mass of black Death Qi shot out from the nurse’s body, causing the temperature in the room to plummet instantly, becoming as cold as a freezer!

The nurse’s body went limp, and she collapsed to the floor.

She was an ordinary person. The Ghost Spirit’s possession had drained most of her righteous Qi and Yang Qi, causing her to fall into a coma.

After leaving the body, the Ghost Spirit didn’t flee. Instead, it circled around Zhao Yuan, looking for an opportunity to attack.

Clearly, the Ghost Spirit hadn’t expected Zhao Yuan to be able to perceive its movements. It saw itself as the hunter, unaware that its supposed prey could see its every move with perfect clarity.

Zhao Yuan remained calm, pretending he couldn’t see the Ghost Spirit. While warily scanning his surroundings, he deliberately exposed his back to the Ghost Spirit, baiting it into an attack.

’The Ghost Spirit can fly, and it’s fast. A hasty attack might not hit it. Only by showing weakness to lure the enemy in can I subdue it!’

At the same time, Zhao Yuan quietly opened his Storage Ring Space, ready to pull out an Exorcism Talisman and more Fearless Pearls at a moment’s notice.

The Ghost Spirit took the bait!

Thinking it had spotted an opening, it was overjoyed and immediately attacked. It condensed its Ghost Qi into a single point, forming an invisible spike that shot toward the center of Zhao Yuan’s back.

This Ghost Thorn was incredibly sharp and contained a potent toxin. If it hit, even a Cultivator at the Qi Listening Realm would likely die! In the Ghost Spirit’s eyes, this killing blow was certain to finish Zhao Yuan.

However, events unfolded in a way it had not expected at all!

Just as it closed in behind Zhao Yuan and the killing blow was about to land, Zhao Yuan suddenly spun around and spat.

A dazzlingly brilliant Fearless Pearl shot from his mouth, striking the Ghost Spirit between the eyebrows with the speed of a lightning bolt!

”AHHH—” The Ghost Spirit let out a mournful shriek, finally realizing it had been tricked. It couldn’t understand why Zhao Yuan was able to track its movements. Was it a coincidence, or could Zhao Yuan truly see it?

While it was still reeling in confusion, Zhao Yuan launched his follow-up attack.

Because his hands were busy controlling the Teng Mo, Zhao Yuan could only spit with his mouth and kick with his feet, launching one Fearless Pearl after another at the Ghost Spirit.

The Ghost Spirit was terrified and hastily dodged and evaded. This also made it realize that Zhao Yuan could genuinely track its movements—it wasn’t a coincidence!

’Could this kid actually be a Cultivator at the Qi Listening Realm?’ The Ghost Spirit’s heart trembled. In its current state, defeating a Cultivator of that level was impossible.

’I have to retreat!’

The Ghost Spirit made a decisive choice. It turned and fled, its invisible body passing through the wall and vanishing without a trace in an instant.

Zhao Yuan didn’t give chase. He knew it would be useless; even if he could perceive the Ghost Spirit’s movements, he couldn’t pass through walls and objects like it could. Besides, he had the Tracking Technique. No matter how far the Ghost Spirit ran or how well it hid, he could still find and root it out.

The most urgent tasks were to destroy the Tong Moth Larva and treat the unconscious nurse whose righteous Qi and Yang Qi had been depleted.

At the same time, he wondered, ’When I met Ying Ji last time, she felt a bit strange, but not malicious. Why would she be raising such a wicked Gu Insect?’
