Divine Level Witch Doctor

The cover of the *Chinese Medicine* journal was unchanged, still bearing the same portrait of an ancient scholar it had since its first issue.

As for who this ancient scholar was, some said it was Hua Tuo, some Zhang Zhongjing, and others Li Shizhen... But there was never a consensus. Even the editorial department of *Chinese Medicine* wasn’t sure.

Flipping open the cover revealed the table of contents.

In the past, the table of contents for *Chinese Medicine* would be at least two or three pages long, listing article titles, author names, and page numbers. But today, the table of contents was just a single page! Or to be more precise, it was only a few measly lines.

The first line read: ”Preface—Two World-Shocking Exam Papers. Author: Yan Shiyun.”

Seeing this, many of the people who had opened the webpage began to grow confused and bewildered.

”A preface? Since when did a journal start publishing prefaces?”

”World-shocking exam papers?”

”Isn’t this *Chinese Medicine*? Why is it publishing exam papers? I’m not looking at a fake journal, am I? Is this some unauthorized study guide trying to pass itself off as *Chinese Medicine*?”

”Pass itself off, my ass! Didn’t you see the author’s name? That’s Yan Shiyun! The editor-in-chief of *Chinese Medicine*! For him to personally write a preface... tsk tsk, that hasn’t happened in years!”

People’s curiosity was instantly piqued. They hurriedly read on and saw the contents of the second and third lines.

They read, respectively: ”Basic Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine Exam Paper, Author: Zhao Yuan; Medical Ancient Texts Exam Paper, Author: Zhao Yuan.”

”What... What’s going on? Zhao Yuan’s Basic Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Medical Ancient Texts exam papers were actually published in *Chinese Medicine*?”

”Are my eyes playing tricks on me? Or am I hallucinating? Isn’t *Chinese Medicine* the top Traditional Chinese Medicine journal in the country? Isn’t it notoriously difficult to get published in? Why would Zhao Yuan’s two exam papers get into *Chinese Medicine*? The exams this time weren’t even that hard. Even if his answers were amazing, that’s not enough to qualify for *Chinese Medicine*, right?”

”Are you all focusing on the wrong thing? Shouldn’t the main point be the two article titles? Even if Zhao Yuan’s answers were godly, at most only the essay question portions would qualify for the journal, right? But why are the titles in the table of contents the names of the two exam papers themselves, instead of titles like ’A Discourse on Yin Yang’ or ’A Discourse on the Five Elements’?”

”Don’t tell me this issue of *Chinese Medicine* actually published the entire contents of Zhao Yuan’s two exam papers?”

”No way! The multiple-choice and fill-in-the-blank questions at the beginning of these exams are the most basic of basics—you can find them just by flipping through the textbook. If *Chinese Medicine* really published Zhao Yuan’s exams from start to finish, they’d get flamed to death!”

The confusion in people’s minds grew thicker.

After the two entries for Zhao Yuan’s papers were articles by other people. But upon closer inspection, all these articles were related to Zhao Yuan’s two exam papers.

”Impressions from Studying Zhao Yuan’s Basic Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine Exam Paper. Author: Li Heping.”

”A Study on the New Punctuations and Translations in Zhao Yuan’s Medical Ancient Texts Exam Paper. Author: Qiao Zhixue.”

”What Can We Learn from Zhao Yuan’s Two Exam Papers? Author: Xiao Xianlin.”

…

Almost every single article was either studying and analyzing Zhao Yuan’s two papers or teaching people how to read and learn from them. Moreover, the author of every single article was a renowned expert in Traditional Chinese Medicine, figures with status and standing even in the international medical community!

A group of Traditional Chinese Medicine experts and professors were actually studying Zhao Yuan’s Basic Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Medical Ancient Texts exam papers with the attitude of a student!

This was simply beyond imagination, completely unbelievable!

Someone immediately took a screenshot of the table of contents from this issue of *Chinese Medicine* and posted it on the university forums.

The post was quickly bumped to the top, becoming the hottest thread. The number of replies soared; refreshing every few seconds revealed another page or two of new comments!

Many people were worshipping in the comments.

”Holy shit, what’s going on? An exam paper can get published in *Chinese Medicine*?”

”Zhao Yuan is making history! I bow down!”

”Is this still *Chinese Medicine*? It’s more like a special issue dedicated to Zhao Yuan, right? Aside from his two papers, all the other articles, even though they weren’t written by him, are all about him!”

”As expected of the pride of our West Hua Medical University! So badass, so amazing!”

Where there were worshippers, there were bound to be haters, especially with Lu Ping and his cronies stirring the pot.

Soon, replies and posts like, ’This journal cover has to be photoshopped, right?’ ’First, the class rankings were fixed, and now even *Chinese Medicine* has fallen from grace!’ and ’The university is really sparing no effort to promote Zhao Yuan. But publishing an exam paper in *Chinese Medicine*? Aren’t they ashamed of making such a spectacle?’ flooded the university forums.

However, these comments were soon proven spectacularly wrong.

Many students who went to the official *Chinese Medicine* website to check out the journal ran back to the university forums after flipping to the main text and seeing Zhao Yuan’s exam papers. They posted: ”Everyone, go look at Zhao Yuan’s papers! The exams he took were completely different from ours!”

The exams were different?

Seeing this sentence, everyone, whether they were supporters or detractors of Zhao Yuan, froze. They all stopped arguing and rushed off to look at the electronic version of *Chinese Medicine*.

In front of his computer, Lu Ping saw the post and couldn’t help but frown. ’The exams were different? What does that mean? Don’t tell me the professors gave Zhao Yuan a separate set of exams?’

The more he thought about it, the more plausible it seemed.

’If it wasn’t a separate exam, then with Zhao Yuan’s ability, why did he take so long to turn it in? If it wasn’t a separate exam, why would the professors have needed to gather around and watch while he was taking it?’

’How ridiculous. I actually thought Zhao Yuan bombed the exams because he was too arrogant to study. Now it looks like not only did he not bomb them, he did exceptionally well. Otherwise, he never would have been published in *Chinese Medicine*!’

A sudden pain stabbed at Lu Ping’s heart.

He had worked himself to death, racking his brain just to get a tiny, insignificant article published in journals like *Shu Region Medical Tales*. But Zhao Yuan? He was published in *Chinese Medicine*! And not for some thesis, but for his exam papers.

It was simply unbelievable!

It also filled Lu Ping’s heart with a profound sense of helplessness.

But he quickly adjusted his mindset, muttering resentfully, ”No, I have to see Zhao Yuan’s papers. I have to see what kind of questions he answered and just how brilliantly he answered them to get published in *Chinese Medicine*! I’m going to study them carefully. I’ll find the mistakes in his writing. Only then can I stage a comeback and snatch victory!”

Even now, Lu Ping hadn’t given up. He still wanted to snatch the crown of the top freshman back from Zhao Yuan!
