Divine Level Witch Doctor

Zhao Yuan turned and barked at the stunned nurses beside him, ”One of you, go get me some White Phosphorus.”

The nurses finally snapped out of it. Without even asking what Zhao Yuan needed the White Phosphorus for, one of them immediately went to fetch it. The others stared with a mixture of curiosity and fear at the Tong Moth Larva held fast by Zhao Yuan’s forceps.

Director Song and Pan Mei also snapped out of their stupor and cautiously gathered around.

”So this is the new parasite?” Director Song said, marveling at the Tong Moth Larva. ”I’ve never seen a parasite this big before.”

Suddenly, his expression changed. ”Wait,” he said. ”I remember when you used the Golden Needles on the patient, several bulges appeared on her abdomen. Could it be that there are other new parasites hiding inside her?”

”Rest assured, there’s only this one parasite in her abdomen,” Zhao Yuan replied. He had already confirmed this using his Qi Observation Technique. ”The bulges that appeared on her abdomen earlier were all caused by the ridges on this parasite’s body.”

”I see.” Director Song grew even more astonished. ”It even knows how to be deceptive. Does this new parasite actually have intelligence? And the venom it spits is horrifying—it can corrode even steel, it’s just unimaginable! I’ve never heard of any parasite this terrifying... Oh, right. If it can spit venom, why hasn’t it destroyed the patient’s organs, muscles, and skin?”

Zhao Yuan answered, ”Because its goal is parasitism, not destruction. It lies dormant inside the host, feeding on their vital essence and blood before pupating. Only after it emerges as a moth will it devour the host’s heart and fly out of the body!”

”Pupate? Turn into a moth?” Director Song’s mouth fell open. ”This is the larva of a moth?”

”Correct.” Zhao Yuan nodded.

”What kind of moth could be this terrifying?” Director Song swallowed hard. He’d seen plenty of moths, but never one so bizarre and horrifying. This experience would leave him with a lifelong aversion to them...

”It’s called a Tong Moth. It’s a type of...” Zhao Yuan started to explain that it was a ’Gu Insect,’ but he caught himself and said instead, ”...a type of extremely bizarre parasite.”

’It was better to stick with the term ’parasite,’ he decided. It would be easier for the doctors and nurses to accept.’

Director Song muttered the name ”Tong Moth” a few times, then shook his head. ”How have I never heard of this kind of parasite? Zhao Yuan, where did you learn all this?”

Zhao Yuan replied, ”I read about it in *Southern Yunnan Medical Tales*. It’s an ancient text on Traditional Chinese Medicine that contains information on the Tong Moth, and it even details methods for expelling and killing the parasite.”

The book, *Southern Yunnan Medical Tales*, wasn’t something he had fabricated; it actually existed. And it did indeed contain records of the Tong Moth. Of course, Zhao Yuan himself had never read the book. He only knew all this because it was recorded on the Information Leaf.

Director Song’s opinion of Traditional Chinese Medicine had already been changing, and hearing Zhao Yuan’s explanation left him even more impressed.

Pan Mei, however, raised another question. ”Zhao Yuan, where did you get that pair of surgical forceps? And why are they made of stone?”

Zhao Yuan had anticipated this question and came up with a lame lie. ”I modeled them after a Gua Sha Stone tool and usually keep them in my pocket. Things happened so fast, and since the Tong Moth’s venom can corrode steel, I pulled out these stone forceps. I didn’t expect them to actually be immune to the venom, but they clamped onto the Tong Moth perfectly.”

”Is that so?” Pan Mei remained skeptical. ”But I didn’t see you reach into any pockets just now. Besides, you’re wearing scrubs, and they don’t have any!”

”Well...” A fine sheen of sweat beaded on Zhao Yuan’s forehead. He complained internally, ’Sister Pan, oh, Sister Pan, do you really have to be so relentless with your questions?’

A flash of inspiration struck him, and he came up with an excuse. ”Sister Pan, have you forgotten? I’m proficient in magic! I made the statue on the school lawn appear in the main auditorium. Making a pair of forceps appear is child’s play, isn’t it? I actually had them hidden in my scrubs all along; you all just failed to notice.”

Although the answer didn’t satisfy Pan Mei, it was enough to get him off the hook for now.

Zhao Yuan kept the Tong Moth clamped in the forceps, unable to let go.

This Evil Gu wasn’t completely incapacitated; it was still wriggling ceaselessly. Zhao Yuan couldn’t be sure that if he loosened his grip, it wouldn’t break free, lash out, and injure someone or escape.

So he could only instruct the others. ”Director Song, the patient’s stomach and heart have both sustained damage to varying degrees. You need to start the repair surgery immediately. Sister Pan, you’ll assist Director Song and help him finish the operation!”

His words immediately sobered Director Song and Pan Mei, who bent over the patient to locate the damaged areas of her stomach and heart.

Zhao Yuan’s voice rang out again. ”The stomach wound is near the pylorus. The heart injury is on the left ventricle.”

Following Zhao Yuan’s directions, they found the wounds exactly where he had said: near the pylorus of the stomach and on the lower part of the left ventricle.

The two were stunned.

They couldn’t begin to fathom how Zhao Yuan had pinpointed the locations of the wounds with such accuracy.

It was simply unbelievable!

Though their minds were reeling with questions, neither of them asked anything further. The priority was the patient’s surgery. Even with the Tong Moth removed, the damage to her heart and stomach remained. If not repaired quickly, it could trigger a cascade of complications. They had no time to think about anything else.

Director Song and Pan Mei settled their nerves and began the surgery. The nurses, who had been pale with fright, also returned to their stations. However, whether intentionally or not, they all kept their distance from Zhao Yuan, terrified of being injured by the Tong Moth.

Zhao Yuan noticed this and moved to a corner of the operating room.

After a short wait, the nurse who had been sent out returned with the White Phosphorus.

Zhao Yuan glanced toward the operating table. Director Song and Pan Mei were completely absorbed in the patient’s surgery.

Clearly, this wasn’t a good place to kill the Tong Moth. When burned by White Phosphorus, it would release a pungent, foul odor. If that affected Director Song and Pan Mei, it could cause an accident during the surgery, which would be disastrous.

Zhao Yuan asked the nurse who had brought the White Phosphorus, ”Are there any empty operating rooms available right now?”

”I think there might be,” the nurse said, uncertain.

Zhao Yuan instructed, ”Please check for me. If there is, get one for me. It’s urgent.”

Seeing his urgency, the nurse didn’t dare to hesitate. She immediately went out, asked the person in charge, and arranged for an available operating room.

Zhao Yuan strode into the room with the Tong Moth, and after a moment’s hesitation, the nurse followed him in.
