Divine Level Witch Doctor

When dinnertime arrived that evening, Zhao Yuan called Lin Xue, Yang Zi, and two other girls, invited their instructor Pan Mei, and left the school in a massive procession with the dozens of students from Class 3 of Chinese and Western Medicine Integration.

That afternoon, Zhao Yuan had discussed it with Liu Zhu and the others. With so many people, it was too hard to book a restaurant on short notice, so they decided to just go to a buffet.

However, the buffets in University City had long since blacklisted Zhao Yuan and made him completely unwelcome. The moment he reached the entrance, the staff would definitely stop him. So after some discussion, the group decided to eat at a buffet outside of University City.

They went online and chose a place that was relatively close and had good reviews. And so, the group of several dozen people marched over in a formidable swarm.

When they arrived at the buffet restaurant, named ’International Gourmet Feast’, the sheer size of their group made the manager so happy he couldn’t stop grinning.

But soon, he realized his joy had been premature. While most of the group was quite normal, there were four individuals in particular who ate as if they were reincarnated starving ghosts. Their appetites were simply dumbfounding!

In just ten or twenty minutes, the plates stacked on these four people’s table had already piled up into a small mountain...

The manager made a rough estimate. The amount these four ate had already far surpassed the other several dozen people combined. It wasn’t much less than what a hundred people would eat.

’How long have these four been starving? They can eat way too much! What on earth are their stomachs made of? How can they eat so much and still not be full?’ Dark lines etched themselves across the manager’s face. He had been in the restaurant business for many years and had seen big eaters, but this was the first time he had ever encountered anyone who could eat like Zhao Yuan, Liu Zhu, and their two friends!

It wasn’t just the manager and his staff who were stunned; Pan Mei and the students from Class 3 of Chinese and Western Medicine Integration were equally dumbfounded.

One of the classmates swallowed hard and said with lingering fear, ”It’s a good thing we came for a buffet. Otherwise, with the appetites on those four, wouldn’t the bill have been astronomical?”

Lin Xue and the other three girls simply exchanged wry smiles. They were long past being surprised by the outrageous appetites of Zhao Yuan and his friends; they just felt that their appetites seemed to have grown even larger recently.

And that was indeed the case.

After stepping into the Marrow Cleansing Realm, Zhao Yuan needed both Innate Essence and Postnatal Essence to cleanse and refine his bone marrow.

Innate Essence was Spiritual Qi and Wish Power, which could be obtained through his own cultivation and the gratitude and admiration of others. Postnatal Essence, on the other hand, was derived from the essence of food processed by the digestive system! That was why Zhao Yuan’s appetite was far greater than that of ordinary people. He had to eat a sufficient amount of food to meet the needs of his daily cultivation!

The situation was the same for Liu Zhu, Wang Rongfeng, and Wu Yan.

After days of relentlessly cultivating the Four Saints Technique, although their strength couldn’t match Zhao Yuan’s, they had all stepped into the Muscle Strengthening Realm and, just a few days ago, successfully broken through to the Mid Stage of Muscle Strengthening. An increase in cultivation brought with it a massive increase in appetite! This was because they needed to absorb the essence from food to complete the process of Strengthening Tendons and Bones!

Just as Zhao Yuan and his friends were eating to their hearts’ content and the manager was endlessly regretting his initial joy, an accident suddenly occurred inside the restaurant.

Sitting diagonally across from them was a young couple. They had been affectionately feeding each other and publicly displaying their love, when suddenly the woman’s expression changed drastically. She clutched her stomach and began to cry out in pain. The man rushed to her side, but her condition deteriorated with terrifying speed. She fell from her chair and began rolling on the ground, clutching her stomach and screaming hoarsely, ”It hurts! My stomach hurts so much...”

Her voice was loud at first, but within seconds, it grew faint.

This sudden turn of events terrified the man. For a moment, he was completely at a loss for what to do.

Everyone in the buffet restaurant was drawn by the incident. A crowd quickly gathered, and people started asking all at once:

”What happened?”

”What’s wrong with this young woman?”

The man answered in a trembling voice, ”I don’t know what’s wrong with her either. We were eating just fine, and then she suddenly cried out that her stomach hurt. Next thing I know, she’s in this state.”

”Oh, no. You don’t think there’s a problem with the food here, do you?”

”Could it be food poisoning?”

”Look at the state she’s in! It has to be food poisoning! Someone call for an ambulance! And call the police, too!”

As they spoke, people began to worry. If there really was a problem with the food, they had eaten so much of it themselves. Would they get sick too?

The man frantically pulled out his phone to call for an ambulance, while the manager pushed his way into the crowd and announced loudly, ”Everyone, please don’t jump to conclusions! I assure you, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the food in this establishment! Of course, we will do everything we can to assist this young lady and help her make a speedy recovery.”

Pan Mei, Zhao Yuan, and the others also rushed over. They pushed their way through the onlookers, calling out, ”Excuse me, please make way! Don’t crowd around her; the patient needs fresh, circulating air! We’re from West Hua Medical University. Let us take a look.”

Hearing that Zhao Yuan and his group were professionals, the crowd immediately parted to make way.

Pan Mei knelt on one knee and began examining the woman. ”We can’t rule out food poisoning,” she surmised, ”but it could also be an acute abdomen.”

But when Zhao Yuan saw the woman, his eyebrow twitched.

He noticed her face was flushed red, and when he reached out to touch her forehead, it was burning hot!

Zhao Yuan’s expression immediately turned grave. ’A high fever accompanied by severe abdominal pain,’ he thought. ’Could it be that strange creature that killed three people before? Has it burrowed into this woman’s stomach?’

At this thought, he didn’t dare to hesitate. He immediately activated his Qi Observation Technique and looked toward the woman’s abdomen.

Sure enough, a mass of strange, black qi was churning inside the woman’s abdomen!

This black qi was devouring the woman’s vital qi. Once her vital qi was completely consumed, her heart would vanish without a trace, and her life would be over!

”It’s not food poisoning, and it’s not an acute abdomen,” Zhao Yuan said in a low voice. ”It’s the new type of parasite!”

The moment they heard Zhao Yuan say this, the people around them immediately understood what he meant by ”the new type of parasite.”

”The new type of parasite?” Pan Mei frowned slightly. She had also seen the public information flyers. After a moment of recollection, she said, ”High fever, abdominal pain... Those symptoms do match the ones for the new parasite. Zhao Yuan, what should we do?”

Faced with this difficult new ailment, Pan Mei was out of ideas. Feeling completely helpless, she could only place her hope in Zhao Yuan.
