Divine Level Witch Doctor

Xiao Xianlin couldn’t help but laugh. Amidst Yan Shiyun’s mix of threats and cajoling, he faxed the Medical Ancient Texts exam paper to the editorial department of the *Chinese Medicine* journal. ”By the way, Old Yan,” he asked, ”when are you planning to publish Zhao Yuan’s paper in the magazine?”

He didn’t ask *if* they would publish it, because he firmly believed in the quality of Zhao Yuan’s paper. ’Such a brilliant article! Yan Shiyun would have to be out of his mind not to publish it!’

Hearing Xiao Xianlin ask about this, Yan Shiyun said with a wry smile, ”I had already given the order to make enough space in the next issue for Zhao Yuan’s Basic Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine paper. Now, you’ve sent over his Medical Ancient Texts paper... Are you trying to make me turn the next issue into a special edition all about Zhao Yuan?”

Xiao Xianlin, on the other hand, was delighted. He laughed and said, ”Hey, that’s an excellent suggestion! I think you should totally do that.”

Yan Shiyun said irritably, ”Stop adding fuel to the fire. If we really did that, it would cause a huge uproar! After all, since the *Chinese Medicine* journal was founded, there’s never been a precedent for something like this. Let alone us—no medical journal, domestic or international, has likely ever done such a thing.”

Xiao Xianlin continued to persuade him, ”If there’s no precedent, you can be the ones to set it. You said it yourself, Zhao Yuan’s papers are brilliant. If you publish them separately, the impact will be much less than if you publish them together. Besides, while a special edition would certainly cause an uproar, it would also draw countless eyes to your journal. Who knows? Your impact factor might shoot up, you could break onto the international scene, and become a professional journal with real influence in the global medical community.”

Xiao Xianlin’s words were like a Demon’s temptation, and Yan Shiyun was sorely tempted.

Expanding onto the world stage had always been the goal for everyone at the *Chinese Medicine* journal, from top to bottom. However, Yan Shiyun didn’t agree immediately. Instead, he said, ”This matter requires a meeting.”

Xiao Xianlin didn’t press the issue further, because he could already tell that Yan Shiyun was tempted. Pushing any more would be counterproductive.

After hanging up, Xiao Xianlin went back to poring over Zhao Yuan’s Medical Ancient Texts paper, while Yan Shiyun took the paper and called a meeting with his editors.

Zhao Yuan had no idea that his exam papers had attracted so much attention from a whole host of experts and professors.

After lunch and a short rest, Zhao Yuan, along with Liu Zhu, Wang Rongfeng, and Wu Yan, headed to the classroom for their human anatomy exam.

This time, Zhao Yuan was finally not given special treatment; he received a normal exam paper.

Zhao Yuan glanced at the paper and finally breathed a sigh of relief. ’Thank goodness, the anatomy professors are normal. I thought they were going to give me a ridiculously hard paper too.’

In fact, it wasn’t that everyone in the anatomy department’s teaching and research group didn’t want to give him a special paper; it was that they couldn’t.

Unlike other subjects, the content of anatomy allows for very little variation. The locations and functions of organs like the heart, liver, spleen, lungs, and kidneys are fixed; they can’t be changed. So, the professors in the anatomy department’s teaching and research group could only resign themselves to reality and give Zhao Yuan a regular exam paper.

Zhao Yuan took the paper and quickly started working on it.

Inside the classroom, the other students were craning their necks in anticipation.

Yu Ke arched an eyebrow and snapped, ”What are you all looking at? Get back to your exams!”

The students flinched and quickly lowered their heads, returning to their papers. As they worked, they grumbled to themselves, ’Strange, how come the anatomy exam is normal? How are we supposed to cheat now…’

Well, would you look at that. It seemed the exams for the first two subjects had completely spoiled them.

They waited and waited, but no anatomy professors came to watch Zhao Yuan work. Meanwhile, the proctors, Yu Ke and another teacher, stood at the front and back of the room, supervising them with wide-eyed glares.

With no other choice, the students could only accept reality and honestly rely on their own abilities to answer the questions. Even if they were to cheat, they wouldn’t dare to be as brazen and bold as they were during the Basic Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Medical Ancient Texts exams…

Over the next few days, the other non-major exams also returned to normal, just like the anatomy exam.

Although these subjects were not recorded on the Information Leaf, Zhao Yuan, relying on his two ”cheats”—the Soul-Stabilizing Incense and the Concentration Technique—still learned the material exceptionally well. The exams were a breeze, completely different from the Basic Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Medical Ancient Texts tests, and this helped him regain some of his confidence.

After all the exams were over, Zhao Yuan and his dorm mates, along with Lin Xue and her dorm mates, went to Lakefront House for a celebratory meal. They also planned to go to a KTV and sing their hearts out until dawn.

During the meal, Liu Zhu and the others told Lin Xue and the girls about how the professors had gathered to watch Zhao Yuan take his exams, which drew peals of laughter.

”Zhao Yuan, what did it feel like to be watched by everyone during the exam?” Yang Zi asked curiously.

”Don’t even ask. It was as awkward as it gets.” Zhao Yuan shook his head, looking like he didn’t want to relive the past, which once again made everyone roar with laughter.

After the meal, just as Zhao Yuan’s group was about to leave, Hao Li hurried over, pulled him aside, and said mysteriously, ”Little Brother Zhao, are you free anytime soon?”

”I’m free. What’s up?” Zhao Yuan said.

’Even though exams are over, there are still a few days left before the holiday break. During this time, I’ll basically have nothing to do.’

Hao Li was being deliberately mysterious. ”It’s something good, but it’s not set in stone yet. I’ll call you in a few days with the details.”

Zhao Yuan was about to press for more details, but the car they had called arrived just then. Liu Zhu and the others urged him to hurry, so he gave up on asking and just said, ”Alright. If you need anything, give me a call.”

”You got it,” Hao Li nodded and personally walked him out to the car.

Two more days passed in a flash, and it was time to check final exam grades.

The professors at West Hua Medical University were very diligent, usually entering grades into the school’s official database for students to check within about three days. This was unlike other schools in University City, where it could take two or three weeks to get results, leaving students too anxious to even enjoy their holiday break.

Lu Ping got up first thing in the morning, turned on his computer, logged into the school’s official website, and entered his student ID number.

His grades quickly appeared on the screen.

Basic Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine: Perfect Score.

Medical Ancient Texts: Perfect Score.

Human Anatomy: Perfect Score…

One perfect score after another made Lu Ping extremely smug, and he couldn’t help but roar with laughter. ”Just as I expected, a perfect score in every single subject! I refuse to believe I won’t get first in the year with grades like these! Zhao Yuan, oh, Zhao Yuan, just you wait to be crushed beneath my heel! I can’t wait to see the look on your face when you’re crying your eyes out!”
