BTTH: Rebirth of Liu Xi

A fierce wind howled.

At the deepest part of the Void Lightning Pool, a massive cyan-flame cauldron nearly a hundred zhang tall hovered in midair, its shape like a coiled dragon, emanating an ancient, majestic aura.

Before the cauldron sat Liu Xi, both hands weaving complex seals as his azure flame burned intensely, radiating terrifying pressure. But what it was refining wasn’t medicinal herbs—it was a bolt of lightning.

That lightning arc gleamed with dazzling golden brilliance, resembling a dragon soaring through the heavens or a serpent twisting across the void. It was none other than the very essence of the Nine Mysterious Golden Lightning—the power Liu Xi had extracted earlier.

The violent lightning twisted the very space around it, distorting the void itself. Under the refinement of the azure flame, the lightning had been condensed to its utmost limit. Hard to imagine that this beam—barely a hundred zhang long—contained nearly all the core power of the Nine Mysterious Golden Lightning.

Beneath Liu Xi, the slumbering lightning dragon coiled silently, half its colossal body submerged in molten lightning plasma. The thick black demonic lightning within ceaselessly surged into the dragon’s body, gradually repairing its depleted strength. Its aura grew stronger by the moment—soon to surpass even its peak condition.

As for the lightning within the cauldron—the extracted essence—Liu Xi could have simply devoured it through his azure flame to enhance his Dou Qi. Yet even then, breaking through the barrier to 8-Star Dou Saint remained uncertain.

So instead, he intended to refine it into a pill—the Lightning Calamity Pill.

This pill would use tribulation lightning as its core material, with supplementary herbs to harmonize and stabilize it. The quality of the pill depended solely on the grade of the lightning—and when refined from the Nine Mysterious Golden Lightning, even the lowest result would still be a 9th Tier Mysterious Pill.

Though Liu Xi’s Emperor Realm soul gave him the confidence to attempt a 9th Tier refinement, time was not on his side. He needed power—fast. Against beings like Gu Yuan, Hun Tiandi, and the Void Devouring Flame, his strength was enough for survival, but not counterattack.

The arc of lightning raged, fierce and untamed, yet before Liu Xi’s vast soul domain, it posed little threat. The condensed golden bolt trembled violently, resisting refinement. Frowning, Liu Xi released a wave of Emperor-level Spiritual Power, a majestic pressure that bent the void itself.

The roaring thunder cracked apart under his will, shattering into countless luminous droplets—each one pure and potent enough to crush a Dou Saint outright. These droplets of liquid lightning dripped into the cauldron, radiating immense energy fluctuations.

Liu Xi’s lips curved. With a flick of his sleeve, tens of thousands of rare medicinal ingredients flew into the air, filling the entire void with a sea of herbs. A rich fragrance swept through the space—so potent that a single breath could intoxicate the soul.

At a thought, the azure flame surged, devouring the ingredients. Under Liu Xi’s Emperor-level soul control, hundreds of herbs at a time melted into flawless liquid essence, perfectly fused without conflict.

Before long, the ocean of herbs was completely refined, leaving behind a massive lake of pure medicinal energy. Despite the monumental workload, Liu Xi showed no fatigue—his spiritual power was vast enough that recovery outpaced consumption.

”Condense.”

His voice echoed as hand seals shifted again. Inside the cauldron, the lightning’s golden essence merged with the medicinal lake, fusing into a brilliant, kaleidoscopic pool. Different herbs, with conflicting properties, clashed violently—waves of destructive energy rippling outward.

Each surge carried enough power to drown a Dou Saint, yet the azure flame steadily guided the process, taming the chaos with flawless precision.

Under the fine control of an Emperor-level soul, Liu Xi directed the reactions perfectly—when to seal, when to release, when to hasten fusion. Every step unfolded as if scripted by heaven itself.

Still, such a process demanded time. Without at least one or two months, a 9th Tier Pill could never be born.

Closing his eyes, Liu Xi waited calmly for the moment of birth.

Nearby, the Nine Mysterious Golden Lightning—now called Erlong—rested lazily, occasionally rousing to gulp down black demonic lightning before dozing again. So obedient—truly understanding!

A month later, Liu Xi’s eyes snapped open.

Before him, the hundred-zhang cauldron trembled violently. The medicinal lake had vanished, replaced by blinding light within which a vague dragon silhouette swam. An overwhelming aura spread through the Void Lightning Pool, so vast that even the surrounding sea of thunder trembled under its might.

The endless bolts of lightning were drawn upward. Dense black thunderclouds gathered overhead, layered upon one another until they formed a storm so thick it blotted out the heavens. Within those clouds, streaks of black demonic lightning intertwined with golden light, carrying annihilating power.

Liu Xi raised his head, lips curling into a faint smile. ”It’s done.”

The heavens roared in reply.

Within the thunderclouds, lightning surged like angry seas.

”Father, do you need Erlong’s help?”

Liu Xi’s mouth twitched. The Nine Mysterious Golden Lightning had insisted on calling him Mother when they first met, and it had taken endless effort to convince her to settle on Father.

He sighed, amused and helpless. ”Very well. Go on then, Erlong.”

”Okay, Father!” came the cheerful reply.

In an instant, a streak of gold shot into the sky. The enormous lightning dragon’s body tore through the void, plunging into the thunderclouds above.

A majestic roar followed—so loud it shook the heavens.

Within the clouds, the black demonic lightning trembled, bowing beneath the emperor of lightning. Even though Erlong had not yet recovered her full strength, she was still the sovereign of lightning. None dared defy her.

The storm churned wildly. Golden light flashed amid the darkness, and soon the thick clouds began to dissipate.

From the fading heavens, beams of golden-black lightning descended, each one pouring directly into the cauldron below.

The Lightning Calamity Pill, which had already stabilized, suddenly flared with renewed power. Its aura surged skyward—the indistinct dragon shadow within grew clearer and more lifelike, resembling Erlong herself.

A pill that had been merely a high-grade 9th Tier Mysterious Pill was now leaping toward the realm of the 9th Tier Golden Pill.

Liu Xi smiled faintly. ”Good girl, Erlong.”
