BTTH: Rebirth of Liu Xi

”This Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame is truly terrifying—it actually turned an entire mountain range into a desert.” Qing Lin stood behind Liu Xi, her small face tense as she gazed out at the blazing wasteland. Born with the bloodline of the Snake-People Tribe, she was naturally inclined toward cold environments, and the intense heat radiating from the sands made her visibly uncomfortable. From this alone, one could imagine just how domineering the complete Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame was. Ranking third on the Heavenly Flame Ranking, any one of the top three flames could make its master invincible beneath the heavens.

With a calm smile, Liu Xi led Xiao Yixian and Qing Lin, keeping their presence hidden behind the crowd. ”Naturally,” he said lightly, ”a Heavenly Flame ranked third under heaven carries the power to purify all things. But don’t rush—look, our pathfinders have already arrived.”

As his words fell, black mist surged across the sky, rolling toward them like a storm before descending in an instant. From within the mist emerged four figures: one middle-aged man, one youth, and two elders. The middle-aged man’s face was cold and twisted with venomous malice, his eyes entirely black without a trace of white. His aura was fearsome—merely the portion revealed was that of a Late 4-Star Dou Saint. The youth beside him wore a wild grin, his eyes sharp with arrogance and cruelty. Judging from his young appearance yet astonishing aura, he was already an Early 2-Star Dou Saint—clearly one of the Hun Clan’s top prodigies.

The two old men behind them appeared ordinary but both possessed the strength of 2-Star Dou Saints, their faces full of self-importance as they followed the youth’s lead, making his identity even more distinguished.

Murmurs rippled through the crowd.

”That’s the Hall of Souls’ Hall Master—Hun Miesheng!”

”After the Hall of Souls’ destruction, I thought this demon had gone into hiding, yet even he came for the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame.”

”Heh, the butcher who massacred dozens of sects finally meets his reckoning. Once, he was all arrogance and fury, but now that his Hall of Souls has been destroyed, even he can’t act untouchable anymore.”

Hearing the comments, Liu Xi’s gaze slid toward Hun Miesheng, a faint smile tugging at his lips. In truth, he owed his rapid Soul advancement to the Hall of Souls—their destruction and the stolen Soul Essence had greatly fueled his growth. ”So this is Hun Miesheng,” he mused softly. ”Judging from that face, life hasn’t treated him kindly since losing his Soul Essence. The once-feared Hall Master of the Hall of Souls... reduced to this sorry state.”

His eyes shifted to the young man beside him. ”And that youth—so arrogant. Likely another genius bearing the Hun Clan’s divine bloodline... Hun Feng, perhaps?”

”The Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame is mine,” Liu Xi said with a quiet chuckle. ”Let them charge in first. Even if the Hun Clan plays dirty, surely they won’t send a 7-Star Dou Saint into the fray.”

As he spoke, confidence glimmered in his eyes. His fingers brushed his Storage Ring—the twin Heavenly Demon Puppets, Ah Long and Ah Huang, both 6-Star Dou Saints, rested within. That was his true assurance.

The Hun Clan’s four figures stepped boldly into the sky, their presence domineering. They stood at the forefront as though they owned the world, their arrogance nearly tangible. None among the gathered forces dared provoke them; after all, before the Heavenly Flame appeared, no one wanted to start a war with the Hun Clan.

But the Hun Clan was far from the only ancient power drawn here. A flash of golden light streaked across the sky, splitting the clouds before descending gracefully. The radiance dispersed, revealing Gu Xun’er—elegant and serene like a lotus blooming in still water, her beauty untouched by the mortal world, her eyes as cold as glacial jade. The air around her shimmered faintly, revealing that she had advanced to the realm of 1-Star Dou Saint.

Liu Xi raised a brow in surprise. Gu Xun’er had come without Xiao Yan—astonishingly, the man had not appeared for the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame.

Beside Gu Xun’er stood three others: a handsome youth gazing at her with open adoration, his strength at the Half Saint level, and two elders. One Liu Xi recognized—the 2-Star Dou Saint who once fought beside the First Tianzun during the Ancient Wasteland Region battle. The other was new, an old man with a kind face but whose aura surged vast as the ocean—a 4-Star Dou Saint.

As the group descended, Hun Miesheng’s dark eyes flared with killing intent, his oppressive aura spreading like a tide. The atmosphere grew instantly heavy until the kind-faced old man stepped forward, releasing a surge of majestic energy to counter the pressure.

”Hun Miesheng,” he said evenly, ”I know the Hall of Souls’ fall stung you deeply, but that’s no reason to glare at us like that. Or perhaps the remaining branches of your Hall of Souls wish to be erased as well?”

”You... Gu Nanhai, you dare—!” Hun Miesheng’s rage exploded. The loss of his Hall of Souls was one thing, but the theft of his Soul Essence cut deep. Gu Nanhai’s words struck right at the wound.

”Hall Master,” Hun Feng interrupted smoothly, his voice calm but edged with venom. ”There’s no need for anger. So long as we retrieve the flame’s essence today, all past failures will be forgiven—and that lord will reward us handsomely.”

He turned to Gu Xun’er, greed flashing in his eyes. ”Your Gu Clan killed my kinsman Hun Yu. Shouldn’t you offer an explanation?”

”Explanation?” Gu Xun’er’s cold voice carried across the sky. Her eyes were calm but glinted with restrained contempt. ”The Hun Clan has slaughtered countless geniuses of my clan. Tell me—shouldn’t you be the ones giving explanations?”

”Jie jie jie...” Hun Feng tilted his head back and laughed wildly. ”Fine! Hun Yu was trash, but he was our trash. You had no right to cleanse him for us. In the flame’s domain, I will face you head-on. The Hun Clan will not be insulted!”

”Anytime,” Gu Xun’er replied icily. Though weaker by one star, she had the Gold Emperor Incinerating Heavenly Flame—against Hun Feng, the victor was far from decided.

”Ha! Such fire in both of you!” A laugh boomed across the horizon as two more groups arrived—one from the Yan Clan, one from the Yao Clan. Each brought three people: a 4-Star Dou Saint leading two proud young elites. Their expressions overflowed with arrogance, but they had the strength to justify it.

In their eyes, only the other Ancient Clans were worth acknowledging. The gathered Central Plains experts, even those hiding their strength like Liu Xi, were nothing more than dust beneath their feet.

Yet, in Liu Xi’s eyes, these proud figures were little more than walking flames. His gaze burned with anticipation as he muttered to himself, ”The Void Devouring Flame’s sub-flame, the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame, the Gold Emperor Incinerating Flame, the Eight Wasteland Destruction Flame, the Red Lotus Karma Flame, the Turtle Spirit Earthly Flame, and the Flaming Cloud Water Flame... truly, it’s hard not to get excited.”
