BTTH: Rebirth of Liu Xi

”Rooaaar!”

The eyes of the Nine Mysterious Golden Lightning flashed with radiant arcs as its massive serpentine body slowly rose. The thousand-zhang-long frame stirred the thunder sea into chaos, waves of lightning surging violently around it.

It had lived too long in loneliness—though it did not even understand what such emotion was.

That enormous dragon head cautiously drew close. A hundred meters was nothing for such a being; in the blink of an eye, it had already arrived before Liu Xi.

The corner of Liu Xi’s mouth twitched. The creature’s head alone was easily ten zhang wide, as large as a tower, and his own frame before it could only be described as ”tiny.”

Just one of its eyes was nearly the same size as his entire body. As the Nine Mysterious Golden Lightning approached, the air thickened with an even more intense storm of violent lightning energy.

The power was so dense that an ordinary Dou Saint would have been shredded instantly, yet all Liu Xi felt was a faint tingling across his skin. The moment the lightning entered his body, the cyan flame within him surged up, wrapping around the energy and refining it into pure nothingness.

The being before him was the embodiment of extreme lightning—its very existence a condensed manifestation of heaven’s most destructive element. If it were to erupt fully, even Liu Xi, with the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame, would suffer serious injury. Not even that sacred flame could refine such monstrous energy in an instant.

Yet through the perception of his Emperor Realm Soul, Liu Xi could clearly sense joy, kindness, and closeness radiating from the creature.

He extended his hand tentatively and placed it upon the tip of the lightning dragon’s nose. Instantly, boundless arcs of lightning surged forth. His long hair snapped free from its clasp and stood on end, every strand crackling with electric light.

The sight was, frankly, a little comical.

If it had been any ordinary 5-Star or 6-Star Dou Saint, they would already have been scorched half to death. Liu Xi, however, only felt a mild current dancing through his veins before the cyan flame devoured the energy completely.

Moments later, he felt that refined essence being returned to him—pure and powerful, flowing through his meridians and transforming into Dou Qi of the highest quality.

Though only a drop in the ocean for his current realm, the refinement speed was astonishing—like trading a slow walk for a speeding carriage. If he could absorb it all, it would be like ascending on wings.

A delighted smile tugged at his lips. Without thinking, Liu Xi rubbed the dragon’s nose again. More frenzied energy poured forth; the tingling grew stronger, but so too did the nourishment his body received.

”Rooaaar!”

A thunderous gale burst out, whipping Liu Xi’s robe wildly. Had it not been reinforced by Dou Qi, he might have been standing there half-naked.

His breath caught, his senses sharpening. Yet he did not move—building trust required patience and sincerity.

The Nine Mysterious Golden Lightning fixed its gaze on the small human before it. It felt a strange, unprecedented warmth, and this man before it was the first being who had ever touched it without being destroyed.

It grew excited.

The change from stillness to motion was instantaneous. And lightning—how fast could lightning move? Liu Xi found out.

A crushing wave of vertigo washed over him as his weight vanished. The next moment, he was pressed flat against the dragon’s head as it surged through the Black Demon Lightning Sea, rolling and coiling like a living storm. The terrifying Black Demon Lightning—powerful enough to grievously wound most Dou Saints—was nothing more than rippling seawater before this beast.

Clinging to a gleaming scale, Liu Xi felt the world spin wildly around him. The lightning’s violent essence poured down his throat and into his body, leaving him gasping for breath and rolling his eyes in shock.

The Nine Mysterious Golden Lightning meant no harm; it was merely playing. Yet a creature with such immense power had no sense of restraint—its ”play” could have turned most experts to dust.

Really... who plays like this?!

A wild husky in dragon form!

Liu Xi grimaced. He remembered the last time he came here—when he was only a 4-Star Dou Saint without the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame. If this thing had done that then...

A chill ran down his spine. He might have survived, but barely, and only half-alive at that.

Now, however, things were different. The torrents of lightning entering his body were instantly refined by the cyan flame. His Dou Qi surged upward like a rising tide, though compared to what he needed to break through to the 8-Star Dou Saint realm, it was still only a droplet in the ocean.

After a short while, Liu Xi adjusted, then calmly seated himself cross-legged upon the dragon’s head, anchoring himself firmly in place.

The winds roared past his ears, his robes flapping like banners, yet his face carried a faint, contented smile. Eyes half-closed, arms open, he let the thrill of flight wash over him as the Black Demon Lightning churned below like hunting hounds, unable to catch up.

Riding a dragon through thunder!

And all the while, a continuous stream of lightning energy flowed into him, refined by the cyan flame into nourishment for his cultivation.

The bond between them had formed—much faster and smoother than he had expected.

Truly, it was a lonely dragon.

For countless years, the Nine Mysterious Golden Lightning had existed alone. Now, for the first time, something sat upon its head—someone to share its world.

In the sea of Black Demon Lightning, it soared and dove gleefully. Below them, the concentrated lightning had turned to molten black lightning slurry, glowing with a suffocating aura of destruction.

And above that black tide, the golden dragon glided lazily, its colossal body half-submerged, only its head drifting on the surface like a mountain adrift at sea.

Liu Xi lay sprawled upon it, feeling the endless stream of lightning energy pour into him, refining into pure Dou Qi.

It was... comfortable.

So much so that he grew lazy. Doing nothing but cultivating idly while gaining strength—how could anyone dislike such peace?

For over a month, he simply lay there, sharing in the dragon’s quiet joy.

At last, he patted the creature’s massive head and rose slightly. Though relaxed, he had never forgotten his true purpose—to gain strength to destroy the Hun Clan.

Even here, his cultivation speed, though fast, was not enough.

”Dragon,” Liu Xi said softly, his tone light and friendly. ”Do you want to have true consciousness? To feel emotions, to think, to see the world beyond this lightning sea?”

He spoke as though greeting a friend, casually and naturally.

The Nine Mysterious Golden Lightning tilted its head. It didn’t understand words, but Liu Xi’s voice carried the resonance of the soul, allowing it to perceive the meaning directly.

”Yes,” came the answer—a pulse of thought, clear within Liu Xi’s spiritual sense.

Of course it did. It had long grown weary of its mindless existence—of not knowing what it was, where it came from, or what it was meant to do. It merely drifted in the dark, an eternal emptiness without thought or will.

”Good,” Liu Xi said with a gentle smile. ”Then I’ll help you gather a spirit. But your immense power will resist the convergence—that’s the will of heaven itself. To awaken consciousness, you’ll have to give up that power first. Are you willing? If so, I’ll draw it out for you.”

”Do it,” came the instant response, without a trace of hesitation.

Liu Xi pressed his lips together, then chuckled softly.

”Dragon,” he murmured, ”you’re such a fool... but an endearing one.”
